Hey Dr Seth, my own prep is coming to the end and I’m going to compete at raw nationals in a week. This is my first non-local meet so do you (someone who has done quadruple the amount of meets I have lol) have any advice for managing stress before meet day?
This is kind of stupid advice but I make it a point to not worry about anything at all lol. My attitude becomes MEH towards everything as I soak into the hotel bed haha. Part of that is anticipating that traveling to a meet will always kind of be a shit show, so if you expect a shit show you can kind of cruise through and just watch it hapening.
I have a plan going into every session, but nothing is written in stone. Everything is finalized in the moment based on feel. And for myself, I loading is more of a knowing how hard something needs to be pushed to get the desired effect - similar idea to RPE, except I am not attaching a number to it. When coaching lifters I'll use a combination of RPE & calling weight ranges for them depending on the lift and where they are in relation to their meet.
Couldn’t even edge to this, I exploded immediately!!! Clean up on aisle MY PANTS
Glad to help (?)
Woah there cowboy, simmer down now

@@dr.sethalbersworth thanks for the advice!
Do you program before hand? Or do what feels good due to extensive experience?
Also RPE? Or 1RM%? If you do program
