It’d like it if the livery matched that of the F59s, also if they’re gonna replace the P42s hopefully they use the same “Wave” that’s on the P42s. And I’d like to see one at the IRM. Although, with a good refurb, then the P42s could still be the big long distance engine we all know and love, and let’s hope they get one!
Really really cool video of the Amtrak sc44 chargers testing on the Pacific surfliner I've never seen those I only see F59phis and p42dcs I'll probably see them at Fullerton if they're there or not but anyways Great viseo
Very nice. I live in Argentina. Always go to LA in vacation. My dream is trip LA to San Diego in the firts class or only in the second floor with the amazing window for see the ocean. Greeting from Argentina!!🚂🚂🚂
Horn + Bell + flashing lights... Americans really seem to like it over-the-top... In Europe we would have none of that at crossings with gates, and just a couple of blasts with the horn at unprotected crossings. But no bells or flashing lights - trains over here don't have those at all. It's just a very different culture.
Even one year later it still feels like f59phis led amtrak surfliners and sadly metrolink retired 882 and 884 so there are no more f59phis that run north of Oceanside!!! At least I thought metrolink would be sticking around for another 3 years or so but nope!!!!! Now the last ones we have are nctd 3001 and 3002!!!
1:33 why is the white headlight on the rear locomotive lit? also all the chargers have the really bright light in the engine room on at all times, i wonder why ... of course when looking at a train from the side you will recognize a charger at night from far away, perhaps that's why.
Its been 6 years. F59s are gone and chargers are breaking down. They shouldve kept the F59s. Now we have to use the genesis dash 8 and F40s plus the comet cars.
It's hard to believe that the F59PHIs will no longer be seen here in SoCal. I just don't know what to think of the Chargers that are replacing them. One thing for sure, I don't like that wedge on the very back. I looks very ridiculous in my opinion. I can understand if it is a fuel efficiency thing but still.
Very awesome video. You have a whole lot packed into this one! That's interesting that BJRR is sending back one of their signature GP39s painted in their colors! I wonder if it is going back for repairs or permanently. Anyone know?
HELLO KEVIN! NJT NEEDS BETTER MANAGEMENT THAN NEW LCOMOTIVES! THEY HAVE NEW LOCOMOTIVES! THEY JUST RUN THEM ON ROUTES THAT THEY ARE HARDLY VISIBLE IN NEWARK PENN STATION. THEY STILL HAVE THE GEEP 40'S,WHICH HAPPEN TO BE ONE OF FINEST RUNNING MACHINES, EVER BUILT! THEY CAN STILL ROLL! AND DONT LET THEM BE PAIRED IN TWO'S ON A STRAIGHTAWAY,AT HIGH SPEED! THEY'RE GREAT HORSES! THEIR 4,200 HSP DIESELS , ARE GREAT AS WELL! EVEN THE LIRR HAS OLDER ENGINES, THAT ARE GREAT AND SEEM TO BE IN GREAT SHAPE! So THERE'S NO NEED UP THIS WAY UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE MONEY! EARL K.JR. 3/21/19. 11:20pm.
John Schuster ohhh they best not! Nobody told them to live near the damn track! I plan to live next to a railroad crossing someday, best not turn all of the county into a quiet zone.
I already miss my 59’s and they haven’t even left yet. I hear rumors that Amtrak is going to buy 6 of the 15 59’s back! Let’s all hope this is true. The rest are going to Metra, including the 6 59’s from the cascades.
Alex the Railfanning Redneck™ incorrect. They are owned by the state of California, not Amtrak. They were only leased to Amtrak. The state has decided to buy Amtrak the chargers for a cleaner locomotive. The state sold their 21 59s to metro. However, Amtrak is going to buy 6 of the 59's, and this time they will be owned in their name.
I Agree miss F59PHI s them I’d rode one on San Joaquin train to Stockton from Bakersfield subdivision but I’d have a good news for railfanning if you guys see a ALC 42 dc Siemens mobility has change all Amtrak locomotives to ELECTRIC POWER DIESEL LOCOMOTIVES cool fact they were built back in 2016 California department of transportation CT they order a.. lot for America 🇺🇸
Good grief... Amtrak's horns are sounding worse everyday. Not liking the strong octave warble on the Charger K5LA's either. I've never liked the F59PHI's so I don't mind the Charger invasion however.
Siemens make beautiful streamlined high speed trains, yet hand over a frankly plug ugly monster. Did they charge extra for slicing the nose off? Or did it not fit in packing cases, meaning they chopped bits off to get it in the box? Why on earth american rail companies and the travelling public put up with this.
Wow, the chargers are much quieter! If they weren't blasting the horn you almost wouldn't hear it coming.
Wow..Did not know this was happening. Take the Surfliner now and the along the coast. This train will make even more special.
I work on these locos, nice looking equipment!
That is a fine ass thumbnail. I love it!!
Nice! I heard some of them will start service here around august or october
Awesome Video! Really like that test train, the double Amtrak train, the BNSF with the LTEX locomotives, and I cant forget the veterans unit.
sweet video man! hopefully they make another run again so i can see it

Amtrak literally needs more cars, maybe they should get the Bombardier cars.
gonna miss the F59s. Still look better with the Surfliner cars than the Chargers lol
Agreed
it'll look much better when they put the logos and the rest of the paint scheme on
Love this engine!
@Henry Dahl chill😐
@@No-le9qf No I agre
Love the surfliner blue
great i heard there was a test train
Awesome catch!

Nice cool shots of p42dc 11 good work have a awesome time sincerely Steven Gonzales csx331
What is it with hanging off the horn constantly, would hate to live anywhere near a railway over there

Nice video Michael!
This is a stupid question I know, but are the SC-44's for the Pacific Surfliner going to be in this paint scheme or is it going to be different?
Even one year later it still feels like f59phis led amtrak surfliners and sadly metrolink retired 882 and 884 so there are no more f59phis that run north of Oceanside!!! when will there a Amtrak daylight train San d to San Fran ?
I wish lol
1:33 why is the white headlight on the rear locomotive lit?

FRA rules
so SC-44 loco's taking over pacific surfiner trains very soon right ?
Eventually yes.
I hope that the new locomotives at least have the k5la horns
5:27 nice lashup
Super video!
Not sure about you, but I do not like the look of the Chargers. It's very unpleasing to see the F59PHI's go. Nice vid by the way.
Its been 6 years. F59s are gone and chargers are breaking down. They shouldve kept the F59s. Now we have to use the genesis dash 8 and F40s plus the comet cars.
What is the engine type?is dieselect or gas turbine?or electric??ı couldn't see the loco close enough to see what's what!!👍👏
Sweet video!
Great catch and lucky because I saw the same train in Tustin but I could not tape it for my channel

Siemens locomotive train use which V block engines ?
V16 quad turbo
What are the best places to spot trains in california? your videos are awesome!!!!
Very awesome video. You have a whole lot packed into this one! That's interesting that BJRR is sending back one of their signature GP39s painted in their colors! I wonder if it is going back for repairs or permanently. Anyone know?
Thanks Jeff! I know the 2 BJRR units are heading back to Larry's Truck and Electric in Ohio, not sure on why tho. Most likely some mechanical failure.
What is that lighted 'X' area on the charger?
Great job! I may be going to SoCal in a few weeks. Will the chargers still be doing tests to San Diego? Would be really awesome to see them
Thank you! I'm not sure if they will be doing tests, but it's always worth it to keep an eye on it. Enjoy your visit!
MichaelLovesTrains thanks!
Did NJT put in a bid for them too? I mean they are using locomotives from the dinosaur era.
HELLO KEVIN! NJT NEEDS BETTER MANAGEMENT THAN NEW LCOMOTIVES! THEY HAVE NEW LOCOMOTIVES! THEY JUST RUN THEM ON ROUTES THAT THEY ARE HARDLY VISIBLE IN NEWARK PENN STATION. So which one blows the horn loudest? The GE, the EMD or the Siemens?
SouthCalifas619 probably the chargers, Neighbors will start complaining!
John Schuster ohhh they best not! Nobody told them to live near the damn track! I plan to live next to a railroad crossing someday, best not turn all of the county into a quiet zone.
On BNSF section, what was name of diesel number 3 and 4.
why are the ditch lights so slow on the chargers?
It's a train, not a techno clubbing...
And have wonderful day railfanning

F59 lashup or one chargy boy?
I know nothing about trains. why were the ones at the end of the video going backwards?
Watch this! ruclips.net/video/qyN_YRGSKX0/видео.html
Will the Chargers replace the F59PHI's?
John Schuster yes it’s suppose to replace all amtrack locos
Ethan Hodges just the state trains are getting these.
That's sad 😞
Ethan Hodges not sure about that
The sc-44s will replace coaster's F40PH2s next year
They must have been speed restricted heavily. The Siemens seemed so slow and they’re barely pulling anything with them
4:46 imagine it's actually 1 train. Amtrak P42DC Mid Train DPU
why do American loco drivers have to honk the horn evert 5 seconds
Its fun
I Agree miss F59PHI s them I’d rode one on San Joaquin train to Stockton from Bakersfield subdivision but I’d have a good news for railfanning if you guys see a ALC 42 dc Siemens mobility has change all Amtrak locomotives to ELECTRIC POWER DIESEL LOCOMOTIVES cool fact they were built back in 2016 California department of transportation CT they order a.. lot for America 🇺🇸
Anybody know when the SC-44 is supposed to run on the Surfliner in service?
GarrettCrashez184 around next year or 2020
ok thanks
Isn’t this the one like Cal Trans?
No, CalTrans are in Norcal. The Chargers are running tests on the Surfliner for a few months or a year until. So any Chargers now are a test.
Good grief... Amtrak's horns are sounding worse everyday. Not liking the strong octave warble on the Charger K5LA's either. I've never liked the F59PHI's so I don't mind the Charger invasion however.
Those are such ugly locomotives please bring back the F's.
Sc-44 look like Cat on heat and awaiting to be mounted.
duong sat tot vay
it's sound heards like ALCO engine
I hope they get ride of the F40's
Those newer engines are horrible
Old technology
Superior German engineering! Where is that freaking GE? Perhaps in bushes somewhere?

Nothing here

Why on earth american rail companies and the travelling public put up with this.
Exterior design is in large part up to the customer. Also no need for packing cases: the locos are built in Callifornia.
I don't like the charger's horns, they suck, I like the original, my God!! Stop updating everything jeez 😡
And America is still behind lol
