- In wenigen Tagen geht es für das kleine Orang-Utan Mädchen Rieke nach Monkey World. Da ist der Besucherandrang gerade jetzt besonders groß. Wer Rieke noch einmal live sehen möchte, kann dies noch täglich bis Sonntag (22.02.) um ca. 12 Uhr im Affenhaus bei der Futterküche tun. Für alle anderen gibt es dieses kurzen Video von dem kleinen Filmstar!

That little guy is so adorable
I really admire this man. Hes not only caring for a crying baby(well orangutan) its sounds so much like a human baby its unbelievable. But he's doing it in front of a huge group of school kids. He's so calm an attentive to the baby yet also remembering the kids wanna see everything. This is simular to the place i stood as a 5year old kindergartener and desided i wanted to be a primatologist. I still love the great apes and like most females yes the babys are my favorite. I've yet to ever see one this young and small. My guess is it may have just been born minutes ago and this man is helping it out for a little bit while mommys being taken care of. Just simply another beautiful addition to their happy little place of newborns. I'd love to work at Berlin! They have an exceptional facility and seem to have wonderful carers! Gotta love 'em they're to adorable not to!! Prayers for you little one and wherever mommy is.❤😊
Me too. My favorite of our closely DNA related mammals. When my money is right, I plan to travel to Borneo for one of those tours to see to the orangutans up close.

Our Zoo is really good. Maybe you could ask for volunteering and then get a place there to learn. I would ask! I sometimes thought of it, too, when I was younger. But it is really hard work, you have to clean the huge places where the animals live.

How can they be raised by humans from birth and then sent to the wild?
I feel so bad he/she wants to hug the zoo helper and cling like they do their mother for the first 1 or 2 years of their lives.
Big props to the people who take care of these lovables, it must be hard not to hug them, love them " alot" because eventually they will have to go to the jungle ...
Read were a female orangutan was sent to the wild , after having gone to training school, etc., but the wild orangutans killed her. She didnt speak their language or know their ways. Gosh it was 😭😭😭😭

This would have been a wonderful video if you had not played the annoying music throughout. I, and many others would much rather have just heard the sounds of the infant orangutan rather than the music..we can hear music anytime anywhere..the infant orangutan..that is a special event and for many the only opportunity to hear the noises that she makes.

She moved to Monkey World, a sanctuary for apes and monkeys in England, in 2015.
