Its been awhile, but I remember laughing at how Jaden casually steamrolls through almost the entire season, outside of the last three duels. I loved that he was painfully aware that he was the main character and he ruined peoples lives by proxy.
I mean, even compared to the other 3 series of this show I've seen, I think GX might be the most chaotic. They all have their ancient magical BS to explain why card games decide the fate of the world, but GX feels like it has several different varieties that are barely connected to each other.
And gets you out of jail, which is why the prison guards are smart enough to confiscate your cards. And yet that somehow didn't stop prisoners from getting cards. Also the Zexal world literally revolves around a card that created it.
@@metanightmare4454not really gx was three cards that threatens the world like the god cards,a guy who wanted to make a cult,a yandere who wants to kill everyone to have the protag, and a manifestation of humanity demise 5ds had guys with giant duel monsters that threaten the world and machine gods that went to the past Zexal was more chaotic a guy wanting all the number cards because he was possessed by a evil emperor of aliens and a war between three dimensions to genocide each other with the fighting over a thing that made the universe
@AfifFarhati more of a joke than an actual comment. But Alexis suffers from being a female supporting character in early Yugioh syndrome. She's supposed to be this bad ass duelist on the level or close to Jaden and the other top teirs. But she has almost no duel feats and is usually a damsel for Jaden to save (but not always). My memory is vauge it's been a while since I've watched all of GX
@@optimus0 asuka(alexis) isn't so much a damsel aside from s2(when EVERYONE got mind controlled except judai(jaden) and sho(cyrus), and in s3, where literally all of judai's friends became damsels because he was rushing off to save his boyfriend and they forced themselves onto his quest and got captured as a result. Otherwise, she's just...kind of there.
"They didn't even try to translate this part" I like that the last duel was inconclusive, because it was the first duel in like 2 full seasons where the outcome very literally didn't matter
also, kind of funny that for everyone involved in that duel, it was just a fleeting dream due to the magic involved in it so when yugi and atem meet jaden again in bonds beyond time neither of them remember that they even had that duel doubling down on its insignificance. they do however remember the duel with paradox after its over, but thats more due to the time travel in that being done in a different way so they ended up remember the changes to the timeline that time for the same reason the rune eyes trio, the signers and the ones near the signers were not affected by the falsification of history; namely, yugi & atem where protected from the alteration by the millennium puzzle and judai was protected from it by "the gentle darkness"
Oh that’s not all. Another world filled with monsters(that Jaden conquers and use to genocide). Amazon Weretigers wanting nerds to fuck. Jaden having to fight a DIFFERENT Evil Darkness Incarnate! The cards he made as a kid became REAL ALIENS IN SPACE! So on and so forth!
One of my favorite things about this show is that there was literally a character who practiced drawing cards so much that he could draw any card he wanted from his deck. He wasn't cheating, and it wasn't the heart of the cards, he just practiced drawing cards so much that he could do that!
The funny or sad (depending on how you look at it) thing is that this is LITERALLY half the plot of the last season. Jaden stopped being able to have fun from playing the game because of the sheer amount of duels he, his friends or the ENTIRE WORLD was in danger if he didn't win. He literally had PTSD from PLAYING CARD GAMES
Also he rejected his main love interest in favor of Yubel, and let her inside him forever, then when Alexis was going to confess she just let him go away... Very fckd up.

One day Jaden and the boys were doing random shennanigans around the school, having duel lessons and stuff. On my next appointment I see Jayden is now an evil overlord in a castle and the new protagonist seems to be some dude who carries around AN ALIGATOR on his back
The episodes where the cult brainwash Jaden’s friends one by one haunted me for years because I never saw the episodes where they’re snapped out of it.
Yup, how most shows went for me as a kid with no cable too 😂 or when we had cable it be a few months and shows i return to things are seriously different and a bunch of weird stuff happened. For example in icarly they were all just friends and then suddenly freddy is dating sam and they got kidnapped for some reason and everything spencer makes catches on fire. Or for the avatar, aang was still searching for teachers then come back and he having nightmares about firelord ozai and is friends with zuko then suddenly there is airships and sokka may have accidentally murdered like 1k worth of men and aang took firelord ozais powers and he kissed katara who last i saw was pining for jet. And a ghost panda happened somewhere in there. But for the most part rarely had cable so i missed out on what happened in first yugioh, watched the start a lil bit and the whole pegasus thing and next thing i know we in yugioh zexal and then the one with motorcycles. But man i thought normal yugioh got weird with the forced puberty and the pharoh in me part and the battling to keep one soul, but this does sound extra crazy.

Wait what? So the GAYYYYYEEEST Man's childhood was underneath the Yu-Gi-Oh academy and possibly playing Yu-Gi-Oh? And in SCP, the Gayest Man is basically what the comment said, a dude who can make people high with his very presence via something, idk maybe his pheromones was crack or something. He also referrers to himself as the Gayest Man alive, despite possibly not knowing what Gay actually meant. Oh and so you believe it's an SCP, he sometimes tells people to stop breathing because he had too many people following him, and they do it because they so far down the rabbit hole they will willingly stop breathing even when they pass out in an effort to please the Gayest Man.
Fun Fact: The vampire duelist had her own Castlevania-like theme, was a LEGIT vampire that appeared in a multiparter, was dueling to resurrect her kind, and when Jaden beat her, she turned to dust and died. The GX Sub was kind of effed up.
She did not just die she wagered her soul on Illusion Gate, a card that destroys all your opponents cards and then let you summon any card you want at the cost of you have to wager someone in the rooms soul so if you lose after playing Illusion gate that person has to go to hell. She beat Zane by wagering his brothers soul causing him to avoid winning to not send his brother to hell, but when she dueled Jaden he had been given half rock from the irl card Gravekeepers Assalient come to life (she was pretty hot) and the other half of the rock from the primary antagonist of season four that when combined protected Jaden and his friends from being wagered and then the rock was never seen or used again. Since she still wanted to play Illusion Gate despite Jaden and his friends being off limits she arrogantly wagered her own soul to pay the "cost" thinking she could win since she spied on Jaden to know every card in his deck however he plays a new never before seen monster to turn the tables and she claims he cheated but he just says he thought the monster would be good against her and added it to his deck before the duel and she had no counter play for it and loses and goes to hell.

That and Banner’s ghost is just, around, forever, inside of his cat. Like specifically inside of his cat’s stomach, pretty sure Jaden’s the only person that even knows Banner’s ghost was around at all frankly. Him and the cat, arguably not even the cat possibly, he just saw a glowing ball and ate it.
Also banner is a alchemist who made a homunculus body that falls apart after one duel so he hangs out as a ghost that's constantly getting eaten by his cat and in aformentioned duel, jaden debuts a fusion monster he uses all of three times because it sucks and after Banner dies, Jaden gets a Philosopher's Stone spell card (which banner was using as a bookmark in his Emerald Tablet which in this case was a book Banner was trapping everyone he defeats as a Shadow Rider in and it's his Shadow Charm) he uses all of once.
Jaden accidentally started New Game+ before finishing the story. This is why you double check the memory card currently in the system if you share it with family
Judai’s season 1-2 character becomes a lot different when you realize he was probably lonely since nobody would play with him after the whole yubel coma incidents, and the whole shock therapy as a kid.
It's entirely possible that the shock therapy is what caused his happy go lucky personality in the first place. He couldn't remember anything bad ever happening in his childhood so he kept that childlike innocence even after reaching high school. Once he does remember everything though he immediately changes and stays changes until the very end of the show.

I do want to add that though the duel goes conveniently unresolved, the actual last scene of the series is Jaden in some desert (???) with his professor’s cat and his professor’s ghost, which is contained inside said cat. and yes, Yubel is still there as well. perfect set up for a wacky spin off series tbh.

Don't forget about that one kid they have locked in the school's basement (to put it lightly), that they claim puts everyone to sleep if he plays card games. The ONE THING you come to this school to learn.

To then escape only to return to find that the isekai was actually a demonic ritual that summoned denizons across dimensions to use as sacrifice including humans, super humans, harpies, etc that feature in the card game. In watching some of GX I think the bizarrest aspect is that no one seems to be phased by duel spirit, the out of place monsters in the world, traveling to the stars... the original series had everyone in shock and awe over anything that happened :P
If it helps, the current show has more credulity. It would kind of have to, with cat-people that are conflict-avoidant, 3-meter-tall women that are work-avoidant, floating hats that duel by just waving a deckbox at each other and then knowing who will win thru precognition, and Jersey Devil aliens from a Planet Jersey that are always dressed in jerseys. Also an immortal boy-king that turns whole planets to ice because he's that bad a mangaka.
My suggestion for a next video should be focused on Chazz. Namely that his brothers intended to rule the world through politics, business, and card games. Also the fact that he somehow survived being in the arctic by himself climbing glaciers, with nothing but his temperate-appropriate clothing, his wits, and an annoying yellow fucking goblin who refuses to wear anything but underwear in said arctic environment. And then proceeds to beat 50 fucking people in a row. And develops a sort of cult of personality in the process. And then in the next season where he literally joins a cult and proceeds to beat the entire academy... twice. And is still somehow not the best duelist at the academy next to Jaden.
Chazz is 1 of the 2 rival characters across every series to have 0 losses on screen. The only reason he isn't considered the best is because he was too busy being awesome, while Jaden was off saving the world for the 3rd time that week or something.

Don't forget that classic momment when the villian took the former of a character's father and took advantage of his survivor's guilt from the fact that he chose to save his dad instead of his mother in a car fire to leading him to realize he should have chose to die with both of them in the fire intends. Oh and the time chazz dressed up like an ojama
This is probably one of his many "kick Jaden out of Duel Academy" plans. He can't get Jaden expelled, but Crowler CAN make him leave of his own volition if he reveals his entire future to him. Jaden would be so thoroughly broken, that he'd never so much as pick up a trading card ever again!
Sad thing is the closest thing she had to a character arc (aside from her wanting to become a teacher in season 4) was missing her brother. And even then it's Jaden who duels and frees him. She also joined the society of light for a bit if that means anything.
Don’t forget that he saved the world from evil light by hiding and protecting an activation key for an ORBITAL LASER WEAPON. That’s like playing mtg for the nuclear launch codes
Yu-gi-oh: Started as a show about giving people PTSD and became a show about card games. Yu-gi-oh GX: Started as a show about card games and became a show about a guy getting PTSD.
This video gave me the idea of a series with really ludicrous lore which everyone takes seriously. Apart from one guy. That guy just randomly shows up sometimes and defeats people by pointing out how ludicrous everything is and then finishing them off by using a line like: "Go and defeat the light of evil and save mankind, Space Hitler." Which does so much psychic emotional damage they get knocked back like a bullet got shot through their head, while having one of those profuse anime nosebleeds.
Sounds like Ys. Adol Christin, the protag, is the chosen one. But not just the chosen one. He's the chosen one for multiple prophecies each located in a different continent. Stopped multiple potentially world ending calamities all within a mere seven years of traveling. Saves a blue haired girl every adventure. Can't pilot a boat without sinking it. Best friend punches hard and breaks walls like the Kool-Aid Man. It took like 7 games before one of his rivals breaks down and just shouts why HIM. AGAIN. WHY. No one even has an explanation and moves on to stop the next apocalypse beast of destruction. It's like if Link from Zelda was the same one dude in every game.

To be fair, Takahashi was only partially involved after Duel Monsters. I mean, in a world where card games decide if you go to jail or not, most people have to learn to put up with random bullshit happening.
I mean, even compared to the other 3 series of this show I've seen, I think GX might be the most chaotic. They all have their ancient magical BS to explain why card games decide the fate of the world, but GX feels like it has several different varieties that are barely connected to each other.

@TheAzulmagia that doesn't make it not a bit fucked up
Well you forgot bout the part where the embodiment of darkness shows up and captures the entire world expect for Jaden and they duel for the fate of the world
i mean considering an important thrust of s3 is how jaden/judai formed toxic friendships based on obligations of his strength, and how that leads to all his friends dying because of his crippling immaturity [and his obsessive attachment to the one friend, jesse/johan, until that point he didn't consider a burden in any sense], it is ironically probably the first actual relationship he forms [or rather repairs] in the series that actually features an equatable sense of give and take.
which ya know, kinda goes to show how badly things in general have fucked up by that point. but hey, they get better!

Hey now, the exorcising of demons happened on season 3.
Season 2 was about using orphan Football players raised up as child soldiers drugged with a meteor to carry out terrorist attacks on schools through Japan while saying they were aliens and the protagonists getting increasing doses of PTSD.
Then everyone plays a football game and everyone is happy again. At least until a guy tries to start a war with football in season 3...

Also a time traveler from a dystopian future tells you to follow him into the past so you can team up to fight masked maniac from a post-apocalyptic future who wants to destroy children’s card games, and who accomplishes this task by committing a terrorist attack in domino city and destroying Venice with a giant dragon.
why Venice specifically if they had the time and budget it would have been great if it was Duel Academy itself though at that point the main cast had graduated but they could have been having a reunion
In the undubbed season 4, Zane comes back. From having a heart attack. In another dimension. How? He washes up on the shore. No really, that's it. There's absolutely no further explanation or resolution. He's alive now and less evil, apparently. And the heart attack was due to his cards, not the electric shocks.
