For all Fruit Roll Ups and Fruit By The Foot, you have to unwrap the entire thing, roll it out, and take off the paper before eating.

The potato pancakes are savory. My mother used to make them with leftover mashed potatoes. Good Eats
My mom did, too. She added egg and flour and flattened spoonfuls out into patties and fried them until they were golden and crispy. So good.
yes my grandmother & mother did the same, but for some reason i never liked mashed potato as a child but i always looked forward to the leftovers when they made potato pancakes
Rice crispy treats are only good when they are homemade. The brand name ones have a weird chemical aftertaste.
Agree store bought crispy treats are NOT as good as they used to be. They need a box of Rice Crispy cereal and a jar of marshmallow creme! Recky will really enjoy making those on a "it's not a cooking show". LOL

I put creamy peanut butter and butterscotch chips instead of marshmallows in mine. So yummy.

The store bought treats are not treats. Everything is off, ie., the flavor, the texture, and the absence of buttery flavor is noticeable. I do hope you get to make your own. They’re very easy, but sticky. My friend gave me a tip, though. Before putting the mixture into the baking pan or dish, dampen your hands with water. Lightly press the mix into the pan. You can grease your fingers with butter instead, but water works well and is less messy. I sometimes add a drop or two of vanilla extract to the mix before panning.

Original Rice Krispies Treat recipe - butter, marshmallows, Rice Krispies. They are delicious. It’s all the other flavorings, candies, added sugar, frostings….that makes them taste like crap.
It’s soooo true that the Rice Krispy treats HAVE to be homemade to be good. The store ones are tooo sweet and chemically. And the homemade ones are gooey with the best texture. Messy, delicious fun.

The aftertaste of the pre-made rice crispy treats are the preservatives to make it still fresh longer and it’s 🤢. It’s better with the fresh ingredients without the preservatives. It’s simply to make at home just need rice crispy and butter and marshmallows and a 13x9 pan and you can even make peanut butter ones

Homemade rice crispy treats have no sugar added. The sweetness comes from the marshmallow and is less overwhelming.
Knotts berry farm was a farm in California where the owner created the boysen berry flavor. Overtime, Knotts has become a theme park and they had a restaurant that served really good fried chicken.

I grew up eating potato pancakes. Most people put sour cream on them. But as a child I had to have maple syrup on mine. And to this day I only like them with maple syrup. A Nice savory and sweet taste. 😊

I like your honesty, so I know what I should buy and what I shouldn't. Almost every Christmas I put together gift baskets full of different snacks as presents, so it's good to know what is good and what isn't. The men really love the baskets of snacks lol. I also live in Maryland and don't recall seeing several of those items in the stores. Very generous of the person who sent so many snacks.

Make strawberry shortcake with a Twinkie. Put the Twinkie in a dish then macerated strawberries & then whipped cream. Delicious!
Potato pancakes are served with ham slices, pork chops, & sour cream or apple sauce. You do cook them like pancakes. A great side dish.

That fruit roll up was hard to bite because you have to take it all the way out of the rapper and un roll it there is wax paper all rolled up inside it so that it don't stick into a big blob you ate paper un roll it and peel the paper off lol

Recky, I am with you! I am 75 years old and don't have a sweet tooth. But put Twinkies in front of me and the whole box is mine, lol. I also love homemade rice Krispy treats, not commercial ones! The pan of homemade is all mine! My 2 sweet treat weaknesses. There is a story behind both of those but long and boring to anyone but me, I think.😁
Keep a ball and a glove with your bat, that way it's not a weapon. Sad that you can't (legally) protect yourself in your own home though. If you have to use it in your new home, just make sure the culprit is at the bottom of the stairs when you call the police 😁. Oops, he fell down and go boom.
Home made rice krispies treats are vastly better than the store bought ones. I'd recommend trying to make those if you ever get the cereal and marshmellow fluff to do it.
Chex (checks) cereals are used to make Chex Mix and Puppy Chow (the one with white chocolate and powdered sugar).
Homemade rice crispy treats are soooooooo much better. The prepackaged ones have some kind of preservative chemical in it that throws the flavor way off.
I think the word Carol was looking for was "patty". Flat round disks, maybe an inch or so thick.

Serve the potato pancakes (latkes) with sour cream and apple sauce!! Those are Jewish Hanukkah delicious treats!!!!! My grandmas (and mow mine) recipe is better using fresh potatoes and onions but those are fine in a pinch!!

Potato pancakes are eaten mostly by Jewish people in America. It's not really a pancake, just called that because of the shape. it's just fried potato. You can eat it as a side dish with any meat.
There are numerous Chex Mix flavors. I like the traditional one. I used to love the Peanut Lovers Chex mix, but they don’t make it anymore.😢😢😢
We call what you were describing potato cakes and that’s what my family grew up eating. My husbands family eats the potato pancakes but I don’t like them at all. They are completely different than the potatoes, flour, egg mixture. At least theirs are. I’d be curious to see if you like the potato pancakes so you gotta do a “ what’s for dinner” with that one Carol 😁

To make potato cakes with leftover mashed potatoes, add a couple spoons of flour, choped green onions, salt, pepper, garlic powder and some onion powder. Drop by spoonful into hot oil in a skillet. Make sure they are browned good before flipping to brown other side. Good with just butter on them.
Chex party mix is ALWAYS best when you make it from scratch as you can add just the amount of butter and spices that you personally like! There are several recipes for Chex mix, salty, white chocolate, powdered sugar and cinnamon! Yummy! Also, I would never buy a Rice Crispie treat, I would always make it myself and eat it fresh and soft!

Store bought rice krispie treats are horrible. Homemade are really good. Rice krispies cereal, marshmallows and butter. Our family also adds a teaspoon of vanilla.
The extra cheesy are my favorite Cheez its.

The fruit roll ups need to be taken out of the package and unrolled and paper removed. It’s thin and flat . I think Carol was trying to bite through the paper and it was too tough. Potato pancakes, or Jewish Latkes, are delicious with a little sour cream or apple sauce. They’re savory, not sweet, kind of like hush puppies, but with potatoes, not corn.

but they're hard & crispy but they make CHEWY granola bars now which I like better. Amazing box & we have German potato ball mix I can get in the military commissary. my German ex-mother in law always use to make with venison pot roast with hunter gravy she pours over the balls & the meat is in & we usually had red cabbage with them. she would make German pancakes & have applesauce & powdered sugar on them. I love watching you guys try our crazy food. & so glad u are honest about the taste if you like it or not. we're always sad when your videos end I just can't get enough. you & your entire family make us all so happy & we all could use a smile & laugh everyday. thank you , love you both & the beautiful kitties 🐈🐈⬛🙏🤎🖤
