Temperature measurement with Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTD)

Temperature is the most frequently measured parameter in the process industry. This video explains the measuring principle of commonly used Pt100 thin-film platinum sensors. Pt100 temperature sensors are resistance temperature detectors, in short: RTD. This particular sensor type's electrical properties are of 100 Ohm at zero degrees Celsius. The electrical resistance of the sensor changes with the temperature. The video also shows a typical process installation and describes the evaluation of the signals using temperature transmitters and displays.
