One good thing about this game is its minimalistic HUD, enabling more screen space for the action. Something all games of all genres could do with. I hate games when a third of the screen is plastered in health bars, numbers, radars etc.
Okay, here's the thing: I've never been a huge Dead or Alive player, Tekken has always been way more appealing to me because of the character's. I simply love Tekken's Style, the soundtracks, the stages, it simply hits my taste perfectly. So I suggest that you take a look at gameplay of both games and decide which game appeals more to you. Just don't expect to whoop ass as a beginner.Tekken especially takes patience, because of its deep system. But that shouldn't scare you from playing it.
doa moves are more with combo strings. counters, stuns. tekken characters have over 60 moves each having different properties. low crush, high crush, nosebleed stun, counter stuns, side tracking, homing moves. wall splat. some strikes will stun on the first, mid or last hit (Depending on which move you delay). also tekken has very complex grappling game (left throw, right throw, back throw) . DOA5 is a deep fighting game but tekken has a deeper fighting mechanic.
Once you learned the fundamentals of Tekken, you learn a lot by simply playing the game. Doing the moves and the combos is fun by itself, so that should get you started. You can also customize every character and change the music of each stage in TTT2 (Tekken Soundtrack is always really great though, it gets you in the fighting mood).
As you can see, I'm pretty biased in that regard, because I'm a huge Tekken fan.The thing is that I don't know what is more fun to you. BUT, TTT2 is really balanced, which means you can basically play ANY combination of Teams. Some Teams just take more creativity than others.I suggest you rent both DoA5 and TTT2 and decide then, it's basically the only way
Truthfully, I think Team Ninja should had only focus on developing more original fighters rather than to bring in three fighters, later on one more, for DOA5. And this is coming from a Virtua Fighter fan.
Haha, yeah, Tekken 3 is still my favourite too! This game is perfect! Stages, Soundtrack, Endings, voices, outfits, announcer.....just flawless. It was the first Tekken that I've played, and I immediately fell in love with it ^^ So there is a lot of nostalgia involved. For that reason, Tekken 3 will always be my all time favourite game. I feel like TTT2 comes really close though....it certainly is the best Tekken since TTT1. Tekken 4 was alright, didn't really like T5 and DR, 6 was good again
Tekken is a very intricate game and has a deep system. There are a lot of factor's that a player has to consider if he wants to be good: Movement(Backdashes,Sidestepping etc), Frame Data, Execution, Mindgames, Okizeme, Character knowledge, Combo's and Punishment. Dead or Alive isn't all that much about movement and by far not as deep as Tekken. It is more about Countering.
I do own both tekken tag 2 and doa 5. They are both good fighters in their seperate ways. You can get them to low cost now, so why not get them both ?!
also DOA 5 has 24 characters, TEKKEN Tag Tournament 2 however has 59 each with great unique motion captured fighting arts that seem pretty realistic cause ther based off existing fighting styles. the characters all have nice cinematic endings some use unique animations and this is the best online fighter to date also its the best-selling fighting franchise in the world. as a full package fighter this is the way 2 go TEKKEN which translates IRON FIST
I would have definitely preferred a new Bloody Roar with the highest "Bringer of New Age" chapter quality (BR4 was average, but the 3rd on Xbox was lame) over this game above, but I know I'm deluding myself and we'll never see another BR. :-\
I agree, indeed Tekken 4 has been mostly underrated, while it's a quite deep, complete game, but I must say that I like pretty much Tekken 5,(but not the Ps3 Dark Resurrection which I find kinda pretextual and also I don't like HD versions/collections in general, they look weird and artifact,in fact I strongly dislike Tekken Tag HD)though it has surely its flaws, plus the arcade versions included are not in the proper resolutions,so I prefer once again the Psx counterparts.;-) Nice talking with ya.:)
I'm surely not a Tekken expert in depth like you, but TT2 is a great fighting game (3D visuals are stunning and gameplay is always enthralling), though probably my favourite in this awesome series is still Tekken 3 (Psx version), dunno exactly why, maybe affection matter. ;-)
In the 32 bit consoles era, the encounters beatemup was a very popular genre and the games were quite numerous, too bad the actual trend is otherwise. :-\
There is no one certain TRUE best fighting game...its all preference...some people like one thing, some people like others...nuff said..I, prefer DOA and TEKKEN...others may disagree...but that is the magic of life...the fact that people are different from you.
I disliked the triangle mechanic. After 5 hrs of training I lost around 300 matches and only won 60. Kept losing to just button mashing gamers. Sold the game the 2nd day after purchase.
I purchased the game from PlayStation store. I think that they fuck me. I downloaded the game. Only thing is unlocked is the training and versus mode. Even the options are locked. I'm only getting 4 characters. Can't even unlock the rest of the characters. I been playing for hours. Nothing. I think that PlayStation store sold me the free version. But I paid for the full version.
So BASICALLY, I should just get TEKKEN because TEKKEN is GREATER and FAR superior than this game, but only if you invest the time to learn all the things you told me, right? so get Tekken?
DOA relys on well timed hold counters and is alot easier to pick up on and they have stupid big boob physics. its buttons go punch, kick, grab and hold witch is also block. TEKKEN is a shit load different it has alot ov long lengthy combos 4 u to master, the latest game Tekken Tag Tournament 2 balences attack and defence alot better it uses aireal combos quite alot and has good training options cause thers characters have 80-140 moves roughly. the buttons leftArm,rightArm,leftLeg,rightLeg Tag
This game is so terrible doa 4 was the best entry in the series lots of characters easy to play the character models look original and how they are suppose to be the are thick the stage when great excellent sound track the game play was smooth and like an arcade feel it had every thing until this crap came out I know why this game is game is horrible cuz itagaki did not make this game fact this game shouldnt even be called dead or alive 5 thats how much of a disgrace this game is

It breaks immersion

The one area it counts the most....the face lol

Enjoyed the talk too, thank you! :]
I think Christie and Lee Chaolan (Tekken) are related?
Dead or Alive 5 is the best fighter for me! I love this game!!
Finally! The Dead or Alive Fighting Franchise Returns With SEGA Virtura Fighters?
This is just my personal opinion but I do really like Tekken better mostly cause I like the fighting style
Tekken is a very intricate game and has a deep system. Also, Dead or Alive relies a lot on Attack strings and it has a Rock/Paper/Scissor system.

Doa5 for me is easily all time top 5 fighting game of all time.

Which would you recommend then?
its been 6 years now is time for dead or alive 6 . So much DLC for last round they should have enough money to make it by now
Darby Reviews team ninja is ending the updates for doa and is focusing on dissidia final fantasy at the moment

Tekken 5 is worth it just for tekken 3
dead or alive has more ninja's and tekken is made by a different developer!!!!
I hate that there's no wiiu release.
Instead of uploading reviews on RUclips months AFTER the game came out, maybe you should upload both on GT and YT simultaneously?
decent review
The counter system in doa
Whoa
So BASICALLY, I should just get TEKKEN because TEKKEN is GREATER and FAR superior than this game, but only if you invest the time to learn all the things you told me, right? so get Tekken?
Mila is Spanish, not American!
LOL! thanks!
How is Dead or Alive different from Tekken? please someone answer me!
The counter system is terrible online
DOA relys on well timed hold counters and is alot easier to pick up on and they have stupid big boob physics. its buttons go punch, kick, grab and hold witch is also block.
