Great detailed explanation of a technique and I don't know why other guys on youtube don't go into detail when explaining a technique like you do because in the end it saves everybody time.
I'm still getting a feel for my bass, but I was still able to catch on to this within minutes! Excellent job with your thorough explanations; I love videos that are easy to understand!
This is the only good lesson I could find, I'm more of a beginner but your lesson made it extremely easy to understand and start doing. Amazing content!
I just found this two years later as of this comment. I am totally blind and your explanation really helped me understand how to get started with this really fun technique. It is challenging but worth it. Thank you so much.
You get like and subscribe for this one for sure. Nice, example of how to teach sweeping arpeggios on bass guitar. I figured out how to do this several years before the explosion of RUclips and have yet to see another bass player really ever demonstrate it. Very cool technique, not overly useful at high speed but still cool. Gotta remind the guitar player who’s boss occasionally lol
Thanks for the lesson, I got the same issues on the down-picking motion too and I found that we can roll up our thumb a bit more upwards (like Tosin Abasi's thumping technique) and could use the side of our wrist like guitar players. That gives us an easier approach to do the sweep arpeggios in my opinion. As a second way, we can try to do Dominic Lapointe's way of doing the sweeps, but I couldn't figure out how the higher strings can be suppressed without using our right-hand side forearm.
Thank you very much for this lesson, also side note for you, since I watched another of your videos detailing the different sounds when using different pickups to pluck from, I have begun using that in my own playing and it has already proven to be excellent, so thank you again
Hey Mark, your videos are always a treat to watch, and amazing explanations I can't get anywhere else! I've got a question though, do you play or practice guitar at all (regular six or extended range)?
Dude this video is a year old, and the sedon of yours I tried to get through. This one, no demonstration o the final product. - you need to edit yourself, like 75% of this is just you rambling -
Yeah, nobody has a teaching video this thorough on the sweeping technique. Well done in my honest opinion!
Thank you so much! And thanks for joining the live stream yesterday!

You're very welcome! That means a lot to hear.
thank you very much the best tutorial out there!
Glad it helped!
that intro sweep sounded a lot like the intro in ancient covenant by the faceless, so sick!
That’s a dope one!
I think it was the same scale roughly 1/2 step down. Thank you for this comment, by the way. I never heard the song before, and it sounds sick!
Hell yeah Mark.... I didn't know you were posting on RUclips!!
Yella! Yeah getting back to getting some content uploaded...posted a lot years ago and kinda stopped for awhile.
Me encanto tu explicación, muchas gracias!!!
Thanks for the class!

Thank you so much! I don’t really, I wish I had more time (or a good guitar to begin with 😅)
Great video!
Thanks!
really cool
Awesome video thanks! Ive seen some other bass players using more then one finger on the up sweep, would you advise against this? Thanks!
Not really - the idea is to make it as simple as possible. I’d keep it minimal!
@@LowEndUniversity Awesome! thanks for the responce!!!
Here I am 1 year into bass and I know I am gonna learn this sh*t one day.
