For the Multi-plane race, here is a statement regarding the pack/story; this is from the official announcement from fall '23. "Mark describes it as another set which leans on the existence of Omenpaths to make a “death race” across three different planes! Mark teases that two are ones which have had sets, and one has never been visited in a premier set before." Given then "one has never been visited in a premier set before." comment, it could a small number of planes or something brand new. Fingers cross on shandalar.
Deadpool should have a word bubble extending below the picture and Deadpool is telling you his abilities. I can't think of a better way for Wade to break the 4th wall than by explaining his own card in a comic book like fashion.
How would it work? The blind eternities will kill all life that goes through them unless it’s Eldrazi, Planeswalkers or Marit Lage. The blind eternities can’t be accessed easily either. You can’t just fly to the edge of a plane to enter them. The only way for the space opera set to work lore wise is to be on a plane.
For that I hope they really go all out with unique alien environments and creature designs in a similar veign to how they are doing with some of the horrors from Duskmourn. Also the Phyrexians are some of the coolest creature designs in Magic so I would love to see more creative aliens. Personally, for that set I don’t want to see any humans save for a few explorers.
unironically the FF set is my most anticipated set I think. I usually dislike UB sets, even LOTR as a decent LOTR fan and food fan in MTG, but the FF set broke my hate streak. I know they are supposed to have representation from every game I just hope they actually do justice to 1/2 and tactics
Multiplanar race is vehicles focused - so Kaladesh and Vryn is my bet (the other clue was one plane we have visited before and another that we have heard of but never gotten a set for).
Good luck! Mine was New Phyrexia and that return happened whole I was losing faith in y he game (and didn't do anything to restore it). Just got back for Bloomburrow though! But I hope Tarkir lives up to the hype.
You and me both. I would love to see Ikoria be revisited, and not have it be remembered for the broken cards, but for the very cool world that's presented.
It’s legit gonna bankrupt me. I’ve never considered completing a set in my life but big chances that this is gonna be my first. I’m already saving to spend an ungodly amount of money on this set, as long as theres no shady stuff from wizards surrounding it…
Proxy, if the groups cool with it. No need for fomo, when you can proxy. Just saying. Long time anti proxy person myself have recently realized the game is more wallets nowadays... That's not the game I love.
The death race set is apparently going to be over 3 planes. One returning (99% kaladesh because of the vehicle shown) and two that we haven’t ever visited
Also recently they said we will be returning to Duskmourn very soon, so I assume it is one of the 3 planes as well. The 3rd I also recall being said was mentioned in a card before, but we have never visited yet (so probably one from either planechase or battles).
It was nice to hear you mention the fact that people didn't like Lorwyn at the time of its release. All the love it receives now makes it seem like everybody loved it then, but I felt like the only fan at the time. It has been vindicating to see the turn.
I started playing after lorwyn, honestly I am excited for it. I loved the lore for the original set and the great aurora twisting everything into its opposite. Elves usually being hateful and rather racist towards everyone else there to being the most afraid of everyone and just wanting peace
I'm with ya. I enjoyed Lorwyn at the time too. I didn't realize until later how disliked it was. To me, it has some of the most fleshed out world building.
Idk I guess it didn't get very good marketing and advertisemen or something. Looking back people see how exceptional the world building was. It's a well fleshed out set with a phenomenal storyline
I started with Khans as well. I did a few drafts during Khans but I quit and went back to playing board games but then I came back with Amonkhet and I've been a MTG fan ever since.
Yeah, As I'm sure others have said the Multiplanar Race set is three planes, two we've been to, one only referenced, as a bunch of racers go through them via Omenpath. MaRo mentioned it back when the Kellan Arc of the current story began. Also, the Blind Erernities are less like outer space and more like the "space" of a threshold.
I’m so excited to see how they do tarkir! The way they left it is like back to the future 2 like “Where did everything go wrong!?” So I’d love to see if there’s some new rebellion going on or maybe they’re gonna try to make a new timeline it’s really exciting cause Temur and Sultai are my favorite colors and there’s a lot of characters on Tarkir I like a lot
Would be kinda cool if the multiplanar race bit was like the Whackey Racers cartoon. Have commanders that partner with their own vehicles, etc. Would be pretty cool to bring back trap instants as well with a commander capable of using them to the fullest.
Since when is LOTR fantasy adjacent? I’m newer to mtg so I might be unaware of some mtg differences in the definition. LOTR is is considered traditional fantasy from my understanding
Multiplanar race sounds to me like X amount of hostile planes now have doors to other planes, and its a race to explore them without planeswalker sparks.
9:26 I pulled a Godless Shrine from my box topper . . . . . and it had a huge indent from being mishandled during shipping. Currently in my Tiamat deck because shiny.
Multi-planar race i think has to do with niv mizzet talking about trying to make ravnica the new center/hub of the multiverse. A race for control between ravnica, innistrad, kaldheim, kaladesh, etc.
I am not the first to say this, nor will I be the last, but I am kind of tired of getting excited for a new set. Only for the next set to come not even 3 months later. Bloomburrow came out August 2nd. Duskmourn released September 27th, with Foundations set to release in November on the 15th. That is 3 sets in 4 months. There has been 1 set per month leading up to Duskmourn starting in April; OTJ, MH3, Assassin's Creed, BB, and DM. I am all for new sets, and I think people with more disposable income might love dumping the bones each month, but beside the absurd amounts of money each set takes to collet. The pure excitement of a new set, the anticipation, the leaks, and then the adrenaline of opening the booster boxes and packs to see what you get while throwing together a deck to play with friends are growing thin. Most of my friends are now playing Modern because we just got tired of the constant new addition of exceedingly rare and powerful new cards each month on top of feeling the quality of the new sets seeing a drop with prices reach all time highs. I long for a set rotation schedule like every 3-6 months. They can even do what Pokemon does with a set theme that multiple sets release under. Like Duskmourn being a theme with sets coming every 4 months like , Duskmourn: Creeping Crawlers, Duskmourn: Decisive Decisions, and Duskmourn: Looming Threats. I can't say what the right decision would be, but I and many others I play with would love something to change.
Lorwyn was my first set I went to a LGS for and the first I went to a FNM for I dont play anymore but I def am going to be buying some when the return drops :)
The snappy glove art on Arcane Signet is pretty sweet. It should feature in some kind of series or TV show. Could be interesting... Edit: Calling it here. Multiplanar race ala The Amazing Race. Jace races other characters to Tarkir with Loot and somehow accidentally unleashes another Eldrazi incursion which requires them all to travel into the Blind Eternities (space opera) to stop.
For the "Space Opera" set do you think we could see something like Gundam cards in a similar way to the Transformers/Jurassic Park cards? Maybe a Secret Lair?
Man! Our thrift stores are tapped for value super fast… people track when new items get sorted and resell as their primary income… good for them, but I’ve yet to find any cards to this point.
I'm a diehard Final Fantasy fan and have been for 25+ years. Extremely excited for a Final Fantasy set and hoping it doesn't only hit the most popular games and instead has representation from every mainline or major game. (For those not in the know, every mainline Final Fantasy game takes place in its equivalent of its own plane. It even has its own equivalents to the Blind Eternities by way of the Interdimensional Rift and The Void.)
I think a lot of 14 only fans will be slightly disappointed. A 14 only set is possible, but I'm sure this set will focus mostly on 7 etc. Probably only a few throwbacks to others. If it's as big as the LOTR set... That one had 125 legendary creatures in it.
I will spend a lot of money with the Final Fantasy set going to get the collectors box and Secret Lair and commander boxes too. Marvel sounds good, too
Isn't marvel running their own card game? Or hasbro is just mishmashing product concept because people will shellout out some money specially for collectorbooster pack for serialized marvel hero or comic panel cards like in One peice card game?
Was going to scroll past then I saw the FF icon. I wonder which FF will be included. Maybe a different FF series for each pre-con? I hope they do FF X.
Can we espect commander precons to come out with innistrad remastered? I'm kinda new to magic and i was wondering if they always come out with each expansion or only sometimes.
I’m really excited for Duskmorne, the whole 70-80s horror movie theme I’m really excited that enchantment creatures are gonna get a little more spotlight and I’m really hoping that they make more horrors so I can get that Captain N’Gathrod deck back to being a proper horror deck cause to upgrade it you really gotta take a lot of horrors out of
Space Opera but only for the lands. Then Llorwyn, Strixhaven, and Tarkir 2.0 have promising avenues to look down. Maybe Marvel, but I'm scared it'll be trash.
I can't wait for the Final Fantasy set, there are so many characters I already want printed in the few games I played I wonder how they'll manage them, like what characters get cut
You know what else is coming out in 2026? The second Lord of The Rings set! All of the Tales of Middle Earth promo stuff was "our first lotr this" and "our first lotr that" mtg always drops that little hint. More One Ring reprints and I bet money another 1 of 1 Ring.
Cautiously optimistic for the Foundations set. Magic NEEDS core sets, straightforward cards with lots of reprints of the classics. Honestly having a core set that rotates after FIVE years rather than TWO is actually a big deal for constructed play. Certainly a big deal for Standard formats rather than being so Commander focused.
I will put a Buster sword in every deck I own if it gets printed pleeeeease and I would kill for an Esper Sephiroth. I wonder if they're gonna have materia as equipment that you can pump mana into to use like classic spells. lightning bolt could be a fire 3 mode on a magic materia and could change depending on what mana you spend to activate the ability. a summon materia can search for a creature or put one from your hand into play? I could definitely see Aerith as an enchantress and cloud having combat tricks a Vincent being rakdos would be sick gaaaahhhh
Excited for Lorwynn return, final fantasy and Marvel, im also intrigued by the race and space opera one, hoping the racing one is not just like karlov manor.
Death Race is going to be like Outlaws of Thunder Junction, as in it’s going to be a theme set. So expect a bunch of random MtG characters in race cars.

I think it's gonna be a 1/1 golden chocobo with other colored chocobos also being serialized
I know it’s stupid, but a Yugioh universes beyond would be so epic
@@Bubblenuts13 I now want a double-faced Yugi planeswalker!
I’m so stocked for a “return to lorwyn”. It gave me tribal staple for so many of my decks.
Multiplanar race is vehicles focused - so Kaladesh and Vryn is my bet (the other clue was one plane we have visited before and another that we have heard of but never gotten a set for).
Tarkir is my birthplace, where I really opened myself up as a magic player and understood a set as it was coming out for the first time.
Me with capenna
@joekline5554 I bet the keyword counters helped a lot for understanding all the keywords and how they can be used diffeently!
Good luck! Mine was New Phyrexia and that return happened whole I was losing faith in y he game (and didn't do anything to restore it). Just got back for Bloomburrow though!
But I hope Tarkir lives up to the hype.
For the Multiplaner Race I thinks it's supposed to be more of a vehicle death race kind of set. Still really want to go back to Ikoria
And is a standard set!
Certain articles call it the Death Race set. I'm actually pretty excited for it, despite how wacky it might be haha
You and me both. I would love to see Ikoria be revisited, and not have it be remembered for the broken cards, but for the very cool world that's presented.
Going to love if there are a bunch of sick vehicles and equipment
What did the rakdos clan get stuck on kaladesh?? Lmfao
I’m most excited about going back to Tarkir. I came back to Magic during Dragons and I’m stoked.
Final Fantasy is gonna ruin me.
Same, I want my black magic deck!!!

Wonder what type of commander decks:
- hero one with cloud as the face?
- villains with sehpiroth
- creature deck
- artifacts amd equipment heavy
Just as long as they stay away from Ravnica for a few years geez I'm so tired of that plane
These return sets are perfect for players like me who started very recently and didn't get to experience those
The death race set is apparently going to be over 3 planes. One returning (99% kaladesh because of the vehicle shown) and two that we haven’t ever visited

Idk I guess it didn't get very good marketing and advertisemen or something. Looking back people see how exceptional the world building was. It's a well fleshed out set with a phenomenal storyline
Innistrad remastered is the perfect place to reprint Edgar Markov, so that's probably where they'll do it to hype up the set
Khans of Tarkir was when I first started playing magic, so exited just to see that plane again after all these years
I started with Khans as well. I did a few drafts during Khans but I quit and went back to playing board games but then I came back with Amonkhet and I've been a MTG fan ever since.

Plot twist: Star wars is often referred to as a space opera type of film
it IS a space opera, and its glorious

Pretty stoked for Tarkir! And I’m intrigued byThe Amazing Race set 😂
You mean proliferate not populate for nine-lives familiar
You can also blink it to reset its counters
If there’s not a Dastardly Dan and Muttley partner pair in the set, we riot! Can’t wait for Wacky Races!
I don't care the new ones... I only want more Bloomburrow..
Universes Beyond: Aesop's Fables
Yes
No more flurry shit thanks
Eh I am excited for lorywn lol my very first booster box I bought
Well shadowmoor but same plane lol
Space Opera, that's the one I want. I hope they decide to go all out on the artwork and use a style reminiscent of Frank Frazetta.
Multiplanar race COULD have partner with vehicle or something like that
Apart from singles, I'm interested in the "Space Opera", Strixhaven and Marvel sets.
Since when is LOTR fantasy adjacent? I’m newer to mtg so I might be unaware of some mtg differences in the definition. LOTR is is considered traditional fantasy from my understanding
Yeah most, if not all modern Western fantasy is based on it to some degree.
Are you talking about "The Amazing Race"?? Loved that show lol
Nine-Lives Familiar looks like it'll go well into Innkeeper's Talent decks.
multiplanar race just reminds me of the south park episode when they all freak out about wacky races comeing back
The show was called The Amazing Race.
The Amazing Race is what you were thinking about in Multiplanar race.
Imagine "Space Opera" being a Civ collab, and then you get late game leaders mixed with ancient times leaders and all the fun that could lead to.
Whew maybe I can finally save some money with all these retread sets. Will be nice to get a ton of reprints too to bring prices down generally
Was literally just watching stargazing vids and find out they have a space opera set coming finally a set that I might be more intrigued in
Multiplanar race sounds to me like X amount of hostile planes now have doors to other planes, and its a race to explore them without planeswalker sparks.
