    s stands for single .....C Stands for continuos af-s af-c a are widely used terms can't watch a video if it starts of wrong like that sry

  • @goosesPOV
    @goosesPOV 4 года назад +6

    Doesn’t S stand for ‘single point focus’ not stills?

    • @LoveTheBasics
      @LoveTheBasics  4 года назад +1

      That’s probably correct but you’d only want to use that feature when taking stills

    • @tominfhl
      @tominfhl 4 года назад +5

      @@LoveTheBasics Well you also need continuous autofocus for shooting stills of moving subjects or if focal plane is changing by some other means such as when dynamically trying different compositions.

    These setting actually work perfect on the S5, no pulsing, decent focus speed. I find maxing the settings lead to pulsing.

    • @LoveTheBasics
      @LoveTheBasics  3 года назад

      I’m so glad to hear that! I did notice the pulsing too

    • @jlaws80
      @jlaws80 3 года назад +1

      @@LoveTheBasics yeah I first got my S5 I maxed the focus setting and pulsing was bad. I also tried -3 speed and -1 sensitivity, that wasn't bad, but focusing want as responsive. Also noticed AF worked better on HLG vs Vlog.

    • @LoveTheBasics
      @LoveTheBasics  3 года назад +1

      Yea I think that’s cause it’s a contrast based AF system and HLG has more contrast

    I've checked your gear list and noticed that you don't own any Lumix Lenses. I know that autofocus with Lumix lenses is better than other brands, have you tested also the Lumix 24-105? It could be interesting making some video talking about native lenses. Thanks!

    • @LoveTheBasics
      @LoveTheBasics  4 года назад +2

      I might be able to rent some lumix lenses but they’re just so expensive idk if I could afford to own them. That’s why I went with the sigma L mount. But yea it’d definitely be interesting to test the native Lumix lenses

    • @mirceablue
      @mirceablue 4 года назад +1

      I have the 24-105 lens and I can tell you that the only autofocus mode that works is eye tracking the rest are useless.

      I use the Lumix S 24-105mm F4 with 1-Area autofocus and it gives great results. You can see plenty of examples on my channel.

    • @AndrewJSims
      @AndrewJSims 4 года назад +2

      I agree with this statement, that you should consider the native lenses when the opportunity presents itself. I have the 24-105 kit lens and the 24-70 Sigma Art L-Mount. The autofocus is much more accurate and properly sensitive on the native lens. You also have to consider your aperture, which I don't see a lot of videographers mention. Focusing depth at f4 is going to be a lot less sensitive and appear "sharper" than f2.8 or faster. Yes, you'll sacrifice depth but quite honestly anything faster than f3.2 you should probably go manual because that's a lot of trust you're giving your camera to be accurate.

    So. NO. CAF improves with FRAME RATE. So, since you think "S" stand for stills, maybe RTFM? Google RTFM. The camera can record internal 4k 24/30/60 WHILE recording/triggering an external recorder AND performing CAF. Watch Richard Wong's review. Seriously, offer advice only when you've read the manual and have reviewed your superior competitors. BOGUS!
