The tablets were used to control turnouts in the class yard.

Nice layout! But I'm disappointed at the lack of scenery.

A number of the modules included in this layout were built specifically for this event on a short deadline. That includes the two staging yards and the main classification yard of Dallas. Functionality trumped scenic detailing for a number of the modules present. This also goes to the function of this layout. It was on display to any convention goer that cared to visit, but its primary function was to be the 'game board' used to teach folks about operating under time table and train order rules. Scenery would have been nice for that function too, but industries and passing sidings were much more important to the operating plan.

Your voice over remarks spoil the video. (No one cares about your technical issues with your equipment BTW.) Just because the layout is assembled in Texas doesn't mean all of the modules are from/or representing Texas. You must be new to the concept of modular railroading - and evidently you're not a fan of it. Folks have traveled from all over the country - and thus represent the roads THEY model in their own respects. It's not about building one giant realistic proto layout. This specific layout was about introducing people to model railroading operations. Your veiled criticisms makes me wonder why you bothered covering it with a video.
