  • Without a doubt, the Milwaukee Road by Dan Lewis is the most impressive N-Scale layout that I have had the pleasure to visit. The structures are a combination of Craftsman Kits, Kitbashed Kits, and Scratchbuilds, and they are nicely combine with some realistic scenery. Enjoy!

Pleasing to look at. Balance between scenery and structures compliments both. And best of all everything is weathered. Thank you . This just popped up and goes well with my morning coffee.

I think I saw this layout when I went to the Narrow Gauge Convention in Detroit. Beautiful N scale layout.

When Dan visited my remedial layout, he was very kind in his compliments and offered some suggestions. A very nice man indeed. Its really nice to know such a nice person is behind such a beautiful layout.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful layout tour! The Milwaukee Road ran through some beautiful parts of Montana and Idaho 🚂

Thanks, Joe. I believe that Dan (the modeler) at one time lived in Montana.

You’re welcome Bruce 👍 I had a chance to explore the old Milwaukee right of way from Ringling MT, to Wallace ID. in various locations. His layout brings back memories of those trips. Dan did a good job capturing the look and feel of the area.@@JerseyHighlandsBruce

I wish I hadn't looked at this. Now I feel ashamed about my modeling skills. This is not the next level of modeling but the next, next, next level, just amazing. I didn't think this kind of perfection could be reached in this scale. Greetings from the Netherlands.

Jef, I have visited many N-Scale layouts, some very nice. But Dan's is a "League of its own"! Thanks for checking in. BTW, all 4 of my grandparents were born in the Netherlands. (Vroegindewey, Smit, De Jonge, and Van Housen.)

@@JerseyHighlandsBruce Remarkable that your grandparents were born in The Netherlands. I suppose your parents still speak the language.

Jef, I'm an old guy, and my parents are gone. However, my mother and grandmother would speak Dutch whenever they didn't want us to know what they were talking about. 🙂

@@JerseyHighlandsBruce Sorry to hear you lost your parents. I'm also an old guy with no parents anymore but that is what's happening when you get older. Now we only have the memories of them. It most have been funny and frustrating to hear your mother and grandmother speak in a language you didn't understand. In the Netherlands people speak different dialects. When my mother did not want us to understand her, she spoke in a dialect with her mother. But we learned the dialect very quickly when we were young because we spent our summer holidays at my grandparents home. 😂😂😂

Every thing was professional and I enjoyed it. If possible I would like you tell me if is it normal to have rolling stock of various rail road names. I am a beginer. I started a little late I will be 82 this month. Thank you for your time and efforts for me! I have purchased 9 locomotives new to represent the Milwaukee Rd in ho gauge. How ever I have planned on a second track of N gauge.

Drew, a number of years ago, I read an article by a fellow who did a study on real railroads and produced data on how many 'home road' cars you should own and how many cars you should have from other railroads. I don't remember the specifics, but it showed that you can have a mix. The cars from other carriers should be from roads that either interchange with yours or are close enough geographically to be plausible. That also depends a lot on the era that you model.
