Their tribal look included sustainable fabrics from DOST - PTRI beaded, embellished & designed by Macky Combe. For their summer look, the group’s stylists combined Ilocos Sur Pinilian polo and bucket hat, patchwork kumot top, inabel blanket from La Union made into a shirt, and weave pattern kumot polo. Jane De Leon supported ALAMAT’s vision by wearing a tribal mermaid outfit by Lanz Angelo and Tboli brass chokers and bangles from Nawa Philippines in the music video.
Thanks for the reaction, Kelly! ^^ Jane De Leon plays as Magindara, a mermaid goddess from Bicolano mythology. The pattern integrated in her dress was inspired from what we call a 'butanding' or like a whale shark. :> Also, Jao made the choreo.
Ohh I see, thanks for letting me know! Bicolano myths are so interesting. And I recognize 'butanding'! I remember that bc Stell said it in 1 of his vlogs lol 😅
Jane also played Darna (Philippines' most famous heroine) in a series which SB19 referenced in their song Gento in Josh's line "I don't need to swallow a stone, I'm not like Darna". Darna needs the stone to swallow in order to transform.
this song has been on repeat for me since they dropped the music video!!! i freaking love alamat, my favorite ppop group by far! everything about them is always on point T___T
Thanks Kelly for your awesome reactions to Alamat's latest videos. Just a bit Trivia, it is the Alamat co-member JAO who personally choreograph their dance in this mv. To all MAGILIWS out there, pls. Continue supporting our very own pride ALAMAT.
Philippines being an archipelago, it makes for a lot of legends including jungle creatures that are human, mermaids and so forth. Aswan still exists in rural areas and so on. Thanks for your reaction and promoting PPop particularly ALAMAT because they are really very talented as much as SB19 although SB19 is more popular because they have a much larger fan base. Believe ALAMAT has great songs too and more culturally inspired .
Fun fact, they filmed this during Taneo's birthday I believe? So they definitely did have fun during filming 🤎🤎 Plus, the dance break with their tribal fits, I think it was also referenced from the Battle of Mactan the first battle where Filipinos repelled outside power by force. I'm not entirely sure if this was confirmed by their team tho
The T'boli is a tribe native to the province of South Cotabato in Mindanao! Their culture is known for their colorful woven fabrics, beadwork and metalwork (the bangles and necklaces). 😀Thank you for your video, loved your reaction!!♥
05:04 Mo, Jao, Taneo outfits are from fabric of Sparrow bedsheet. It's a dated design from our grannies era. 06:19 seems water bending. I saw a vid when Thomas was joking about it. The red outfit looks do good on Jao.
Magindara is not a singular persona. It is a collective term for merpeople in Bicolano myth. In some tales Magindara are creatures portrayed as beautiful and vicious at the same time. They lure fishermen to their death
I watched the recording session. I don't think I got all the references behind the song, since there were no English CC, but I tried my best to follow along 😅
The Filipino verses in the chorus and the bridge are in Visayan and their "outfit change" is most probably inspired by Visayan free people class. The pants and the vests is definitely free people class.
6:45 "I should have worn mermaid themes like seashells and clips." You can still do it, Sis in their upcoming videos related to Day & Night. Usually they release: 1. BTS 2. Dance choreo 3. Acoustic version 4. Wish Bus version So you can try different mermaid outfits while reacting to those 4. 🤍💙🕺🧜💙🤍
We always use this Bisayan Expression: AyaYayy Porbida!!! (OMG) 😊,/// Adlaw (Day), ug (And), Gabei (Night),, Tribal Outfit from the province of the Philippines Mindanao and Visayas..
Not sure if you also noticed but they used 3 languages in this song - English, Tagalog, Cebuano/Bisaya. Some Bisaya iconic phrases are "adlaw ug gabi-i", "gimingaw kaayo ko nimo", "basin diay!", "ay ay ay porbida" :) ALAMAT consistently shouts Filipino and I really really love them for it!!
The "ay ay ay porbida" part plays nonstop in my head haha. They're so unique for that, I love hearing them incorporate different languages into their music!
Thank you! I try my best to acknowledge the creative team in a lot of my reactions. I feel like they often get left out of recognition, and I just want them to know that I appreciate their work! ❤️
Mabuhay! How's it going? By the way, thank you for watching their music video. Im loving the reactions!!! 😄 Here's some exciting news!!! They're dropping a brand-new MV on November 3rd at 6 PM PHT. It marks their comeback with a full LP. Are you up for checking it out? But, before the official MV release, you can get a sneak peek through their MV teaser, "Dagundong." Maraming Salamat po! See you and enjoy! 🤩🤎
I watched it last year, so I won't be doing a RV to it. It was actually the 1st thing I'd ever seen from Alamat, so definitely a very intense intro to the group haha 😵💫😅

Her dance at 5:08-5:10 was inspired by a Bicol courtship dance called Pantomina.

Jao is the one doing the choreo with a touch of folk dance to it.. magindara dance is also jao choreography .. thank you for reaction
We truly don't deserve Jao, he's too talented for this world 🥹

this song has been on repeat for me since they dropped the music video!!! i freaking love alamat, my favorite ppop group by far! everything about them is always on point T___T
I feel you, I've played this song an unbelievable amount of times haha. They hit gold with this one!

That's so interesting, thanks for sharing. They did this during Taneo's birthday? If so, that must've been a very memorable birthday for him haha 😄
I really love your voice Kelly! Always watching your reactions! More PPOP group reactions in the future, please!

Thank you! More PPOP group RVs coming your way soon! 💕

Ooh so interesting! ❤️❤️
It’s about time filipino talents or Original pilipno Music (OPM) be recognized globally 🎉

Adlaw - Day
Gabie - Night
Tomas hair. From Porque to this. Applause
Jao actually got cuts on his feet from filming your favorite part of the MV 🥺🫶🏻 soo glad they pulled it off effortlessly
Oh nooo poor Jao! It's not an Alamat MV unless someone gets hurt on set during filming haha 😭
I think the dance and some costumes is inspired by the tribe Bagobo Tagabawa which is from Mindanao. If I’m not mistaken. 🤎
Hi Kelly I hope you watch their BTS vlogs and Recording Sessions... you will surely enjoy it and know more about the references behind every song ❤

Ah good to know, thank you! I might start using "AyaYayy Porbida" in daily life now haha 😅
@@kam11522 Ur welcome ☺️
Amansinaya? The Filipino goddess of the sea🐚🐚🦐🦞🌊🌊🌊
Or Lidagat since the language used is Bisaya. Pero either of the 2, Jane can surely pull off both of the goddesses.
