- Опубликовано: 22 сен 2020
- Checked out these two brands of synthetic ice for my at home goalie training. And here are the pros and cons of both the Revolution synthetic ice tiles from www.HockeyShot.ca and the Can Ice synthetic skating tiles from can-ice.com/
If you have been thinking about upping your at home goalie training game with synthetic skating tiles, but wondered how they feel with your goalie skates or how well your goalie pads will slide on them, here's the scoop.
I paid for all of these tiles myself, this video is not sponsored and there are no affiliate links at all.

I have Can-Ice at home. The price is pretty high, especially since I have 2 garage bays full of them. The quality I found to be significantly higher than other brands though (especially Polyglide, which I used to have), so I found it to be generally worth it.
Thanks for sharing your experience - wow a garage full sounds awesome. Sometimes I get a little close to the edge of my little area :) Appreciate your input GC!
I have xtraice synthetic panels and the shavings suck and stick to everything. I should have gone with can-ice... Thanks for the review.
Yeah, when I first got my Revolution tiles, I was just so happy to be able to skate inside... but then after a few months cleaning up the shavings started to be a bit of a drag.
I would like to see a vid on you doing a skate practice on the tiles please
I've got it on my list to shoot that video Tobias - stay tuned!
I have 8x8 ft of the PolyGlide ice which I guess was featured on Shark Tank. Found a coupon code that got me free shipping and 20% off which ended up being around $450 total. It's slick when wearing just my knee guards, but my pads don't slide at all (my pads are a little worn which might be the cause). So I got some of those pad covers which hopefully make them slide a little better.
Overall happy with it though :)
Awesome - great to see more options in this space - that will lead to better and better products.
So funny. I was just asking about PolyGlide and someone suggested I watch this vid. So for me, it looks like it comes down to PolyGlide or CanIce. Been a while since you posted this. What's your take, now, on PolyGlide? Have you tried anything else since?
@@DaMickster Well, my local rink has year-round ice now, so I haven't used them much in the past year or so.
Still think they are worthwhile if you're looking for at-home training. Haven't tried any of the other synthetic ice products out there.
We can Can-ice. We love it
Yes, they are awesome aren't they?
A training video on the synthetic ice would be fantastic.
Already did one :) You can find it here - ruclips.net/video/RJOM5DiaBpg/видео.html
Do you think you will get 8-12 years per side as advertised for the can-ice pro series panels? I’m looking to get them for my garage.
Since there is no shavings… is there dust? I’m just not understanding how it doesn’t produce anything.
Not sure if I will get 8-12 years, depends on how much you use them probably and how clean you keep them. There is no dust, no shavings, very clean.
For the uneven tiles, I use tuck tape on the underside of the tiles right under the seam
Good idea - - I mounted mine to a plywood plank and that has helped for sure.
@@goalietraining yes but remember to use supports every 12 inch center to center to prevent your plywood from bending
@@francoisguay546 Thank you François - - Paul built it for me, so it will be good and sturdy!
I purchased KwikRink. Almost as expensive as your new ice. Shavings aren’t as bad as the revolution, which I had before my KwikRink. Shipping was very expensive, as well.
I think these things are just so big and awkward to ship and probably not a lot of volume that the shipping system isn't as smooth as it could be. These tiles basically have no shavings at all - that's a nice perk. How does the KwikRink compare to your Revolution tiles in terms of real-ice feel?
GoalieTrainingProTV The slide of the KwikRink is considerably better. Well worth the cost difference.
@@pjpalpant Awesome - thanks for sharing and letting us know.
We also bought KwikRink V. The price was like 1/2 the price of CanIce per sq. foot. and so far we're pretty happy with it.
@@PyroJay27 Awesome!
I want it for my bday and can you give me some tips , I post on my RUclips channel hockey content
couldn't you put some material on your pads to decrease the friction, making it more similar to ice and maybe less rough on the hips
maybe - - I don't know.
Great content as always, thanks!
Heads up, the can-ice url mentioned in the video description should be hyphenated. I went to canice dot com (didn't want to create another link to this...), and the page was sort of shady. Asking to install some plugin or something.
Oh wow- thanks Joseph - I will make sure it is right in the description there. Thank you.
Seems like the link in the description is wrong. I think it should be can-ice, not canice. CanIce without the "-" was blocked by my browser.
Thank you - gonna fix it right now!
Do you think if I bought the double sided ones rather than the pro ones would be worth it for a smaller space?
The Can-Ice are double sided - - I think it really depends on your budget and the price difference - there hasn't really been a lot of wear on my tiles yet - no where near close to wanting to flip them yet.
@@goalietraining thank you also did you get the pro tiles if so do your pads slide alright?
@@thesportsquad4531 I have the pro - fewer seams - - but they were really expensive to ship because they came on a pallet - - I explain it in the video - - the smaller tiles might be cheaper to ship because they are smaller - not sure. Pads slide just fine.
@@goalietraining awesome tysm for telling me
Do uou have any ideas for keeping them still? I keep skatinf on my synthetic ice, however it keeps sliding
Yes, you can get these rolls of a rubbery kind of material - they are designed to put under a rug or linking your cupboards to prevent your dishes from sliding around. I put those under the synthetic ice and it works well.
@@goalietraining oh ok. Do you know what they are called?
@@beamngcrashes1181 No I don't, sorry.
I'm looking at buying extreme ice
Awesome - let me know how you like it!
i have the x hockey
How do you like them?
@@goalietraining Great but the crease scratches very easy
@@hockeyforlife5825 Good to know - thanks
