      Being in net is euphoric, IMO.
      I’m sure I haven’t kept up with my stretches enough during lockdown. We just opened up for stick and pucks for the first time, since March 2020, on June 30 (2021). I think I want to spend a few weeks making sure before I resume with my on ice coach (my 21 year old full right goalie son). Haven’t had an injury yet and don’t want one. 🤞🏽

      @@goalietraining Thanks Maria! My biggest physical issue by far is hip strength. My butterfly flare is okay in that it looks like a butterfly, and I can get a decently wide flare, however, holding it wide is a real challenge, especially while staying upright and not having my internal rotators "bounce" when I land on my knees. I'm 183cm tall but my inseam is only 76cm. Basically I am all torso and neck. If I can maintain staying as upright as possible while down in the fly, I will deny a lot of the upper net. The sacrifice I make right now to do that is my flare is very narrow. If I can dial that in and get really strong stable hips, I can get over the weakness of exposing more on ice net.

So, yeah I can definately use these as I am now cleared from everything to be back on the ice. Maria, this definitely came at the most opportune time - age has been stated by others so at 71 have just played my 16th goalie game. Have played & still am a D guy - goal is as an alternate.
    Low shots frustrating but these exercises will help me balance & move , help extend . More Hybrid & trying 1/2 BF than full BF so mobility is key - trying to model after Brodeur before he BF & then add Price patience & mobility .

    Thanks for all the great tutorials on body mechanics and exercises to elevate our game no matter what level we play at! I'm going under the knife soon for a complete ACL repair. Doc says 9 months until approval for contact sports. What would you recommend I focus on during the slow rehab process?

    • @goalietraining
      @goalietraining  3 года назад +1

      That guideline sounds good - - I would also budget a little more for getting back to playing goal. Typically the return to play is 9-12 months (9 is early). There is an entire progression you need to follow after ACL reconstruction - starting with getting back your quads activation and full extension all the way up to functional strength and stability drills. And you need to do it all at the right time based on graft healing (know that for the first few months your graft is actually getting weaker... then it starts to establish a blood supply and get stronger). Here's what you should focus on- - finding a great sport physio who has rehabbed ACLs and then do exactly what they say for the next year. It will make ALL the difference.

I find my leg that load leg when recovering doesn’t feel solid & find myself falling forward.I’ve gotten used to only recovering w/ my left leg. I’d like to be able to play 2 more years, but right now I’m discouraged. I just watched your video for adult goalies and will start w/ those exercises.
