Punter was definitely approached for the job during Ganguly's tenure as the BCCI president. I don't think Jay Shah has formally approached Ponting. There may have been an informal approach just to get an expression of interest, if any, but that should be about it. I think someone like Punter should at least be approached for a mentor's role during big tournaments, as India has failed in big matches. Sometimes, when you have someone like that who has won many world cups sharing his experiences and mental approach, it can rub off on the players and be crucial in big matches.

For you to enjoy any league for a long duration you need to support a team in that league. Pick a team and start supporting it, you can't enjoy Premier League or IPL if you're just watching every Single game as a neutral. Yes, IPL will be at least 4 months long in the Future with 16 Teams or more & i wouldn't mind it at all. It's so so much better than redundant Bilateral International Cricket.
