I'm a bit puzzled with Aston of late, grew up loving them, watching James Bond and all that, but there hasn't been a new Aston I've really desired for ages - I think the last one I really liked was the DB-S, which came out about 12 years ago.
The speedo binnacle reminded me of that in a 1955 Standard 10. The rear is a proper dog's dinner IMO, the front just a sea of blandness with a ridiculous grille (my lad would call it gopping). Side view is ok I guess, but I think I'd have an F-Type of some kind. Great review.

They should've just taken the Revenant front end and replaced both grilles with it.
The windows would be the deal killer for me. Because the doors rise upwards when they open outwards, the windows have to roll down slightly in order to open or close the doors. This happens automatically. Here in the northeastern part of the US and in other colder wintery climates, car windows routinely freeze up during the winters. So the automatic windows attempt to roll down the windows but can’t because the window is frozen, the worm gear breaks, and the window shatters against the door frame. Great engineering there, Aston!
Another fab video from Harry. I do like these but I just couldn’t live with that interior. The DB9 interior was so modern and fresh when it was released. This Vantage’s interior is a generation behind its current competitors.
It sounds a bit uncivilised for an Aston the rear end looks messy and the air vent shape and switch arrangement is pretty grim. Expensive and flawed .Harry’s right!
I think I would be more tempted by an LC500 convertible tbh, pretty much guaranteed better build quality / fit & finish and paint quality / far superior interior & better reliability / dealer network. Plus the Lexus also looks (imho) fantastic and also has a naturally aspirated V8, instead of some borrowed turbo lump from AMG. Main thing you would be missing is the 'kudos' of the Aston Martin name/image. You would also save approx 50k!
Lexus will also be worth more in 5 years time than this. Mercedes lost a lot of SL customers to Lexus precisely because of reliability and residual value- and now that Lexus have the USP of an NA V8 that sounds great...will Aston even be in business in two years' time??

Aston really are knocking out of the park at the moment, with some wonderful futuristic designs. I think this is one of the most stunning soft top cars currently available!😍
Thanks Harry. Another great segment. The problem with this Aston is that as a GT car there are better alternatives for less money, like you mentioned, the Jaguar and as a sports car the better alternatives are the 911, Boxster GTS, etc. And the older model Astons were better looking.
My uncle had a previous version of this car. You ask why it is so heavy. The build quality is very impressive. It's very solid and built like a tank. There won't be any flex on that convertible chassis.
Imagine spending this kind of money on a Ferrari only to find that it has a Renault engine under the bonnet. Or shelling out on 911 turbo S only to find a Toyota engine under the bonnet. The customers in this league buy into the brand as well as the capabilities of the car. They would hope to get a full on Aston experience which includes a characterful engine that hasn't been rebadged from another manufacturer.
I've seen one of these parked in a B&M car park in a pale yellow colour, and with a dark red roof and it looked great and it just seemed alright parked in this establishment. It looks like they are still going for the Nokia, glass panel phone look for the mid consoles of most cars no matter what manufacturer.
That exhaust noise is horrible, especially when changing gear with all the pops and bangs. Just sounds like a boy racer car with holes drilled in the exhaust
Americans like that, it seems. Twin turbo just can't produce that v8 noise, that specific "grumble" so they did what they can. It's not that bad. But that central console and climate vents are horrible.
Lovely review Harry, as per usual old chap.
I was considering selling my DB9 to invest the cash, but after seeing these newer Aston's, the DB9 might prove to be a good investment itself.
Keep your DB9, a proper Aston
You're treating us this week Harry. Graçias!
This car illustrates why Aston are bancrupt and every reason why they should vanish without any vantage.
Gonna be a good Sunday new Harry’s Garage !!! And it’s a Aston review
I don't like the front, I don't like the back, I don't like the interior and I don't like the sound. Apart from that it's a peach.
You didn't mention the price. I don't think Harry liked the price either. N'or do I.
....I like before watching the review - Harry never under delivers.....
@@davecom3 With all the bail outs Aston have had and the losses they are making, plus pinning their hopes on the DBX I must confess I was thinking that exact thing when I was typing out my comment above, will Aston even survive.
@@zlatanmorrison8182 I completely forgot about the DBX! I've read that it's an excellent SUV so perhaps Aston might survive because of it. Theyve put a bit more thought into that vehicle. It's a shame theyve released it at one of the worst times imaginable. Conspicuous consumption isnt 'de rigueur' right now!
Another fantastic video Harry. I know you haven’t got time to read my opinion, but you forgot to mention the Merc AMG GTC. I think it looks better, cleaner lines & when it comes to the interior, a country mile nicer. Thank’s again for a super channel, Si.
What a beautiful car! My dream car indeed!😍
I'm great full we still have reviewers like Harry!! Informative and we'll sorted. Reminds me of EVO reviews.
Aston really are knocking out of the park at the moment, with some wonderful futuristic designs. I think this is one of the most stunning soft top cars currently available!😍
Until you look inside.....
Thanks Harry. Another great segment. The problem with this Aston is that as a GT car there are better alternatives for less money, like you mentioned, the Jaguar and as a sports car the better alternatives are the 911, Boxster GTS, etc. And the older model Astons were better looking.
Really don't like the way modern cars do that weird farting noise when changing cogs, really puts me off.
It is being done to anti-lag the turbos, but I agree it sounds sh1t.
Pbthbthb.
Yes, but on the plus side, at least it will be reliable.
I can't take you seriously if you're comparing a Mercedes to Toyota. Just no point in reading further.
@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks You misread that.
Love these reviews for those of us that will never get to drive something like this
Thanks for another great review Harry 👍🏻 What a disappointment 😞 I so wanted to love this car. Guess I'll stick with the F-Type for now!
I've seen one of these parked in a B&M car park in a pale yellow colour, and with a dark red roof and it looked great and it just seemed alright parked in this establishment.
It looks like they are still going for the Nokia, glass panel phone look for the mid consoles of most cars no matter what manufacturer.
I think that’s Harry speak for “its crap”
like when he took the Lamborghini Urus and thrashed it around a field...
Nice video Harry - now watch Doug DeMuro’s review - completely different style yet both are very enjoyable and informative.
The rear end locks worse as it gets further away, how have they managed that.
I just cannot see any reason why I would upgrade my 2006 v8 Vantage... not sure if that makes sound sense for the car company...
So many modern exhausts have those pops, bangs, crackles and farts. Some people may like that but to me it sounds cheap, tacky and awful.
Lovely review Harry, as per usual old chap. I agree with you about the good bits but was about to suggest a late Mercedes SL63s as a great alternative to this, with the same engine, when you brought up the Boxster. Good call so I will now re-watch your review of that to settle my mind. It needs settling because when I win the lotto tonight I need to know whether to venture into Bordeaux to order the Aston or over to my local Porsche dealer in Limoges...
3 Grand for 20 inch rims and tyres, a grand for black painted calipers, Aston Martin, get your pricing sorted preferably by someone who understands comparable value.🤔🤔🤔😂
That'll be the new owner. Got to pay for his son's weekend racing habit somehow.
New CEO carries the can for customer dissatisfaction
@@askiff1415 I hope it's a big can and he's got what it takes to carry it.
Luxury and exotic brands, Ferrari and Lamborghini being the two worst I've seen, options pricing on there cars is ludicrous. At least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask whilst he robbed people. In this Carbon accent obsessed world, the manufacturers are absolutely raping and pillaging well off must have it showy brigade. Alot of money, little common sense when speccing a car , the practice of hideous options costs is scurrilous beyond belief.
The front end view and the outer rear lights reminds of a Mazda MX-5.
5k quid for the most mundane paint color for your Aston...
What's wrong with Silver man? Totally posh!
@@oreally8605 Also almost never needs washing. :)
Not sure why anyone would want their sporty Aston in a colour I'd associate with a boring commuter car
@@oreally8605 nothing wrong with silver grey. It's just one of the most common colours of all cars. what is the colour that doesn't cost money then?
I would take a free colour and spend my Cora £5k having it PPF or wrapped so it stays mint.
Very nice but I think I will keep my F Type convertible as it offers better value for money and still has a great presence on the road. OK I admit it, its the exhaust pops and crackles that does it for me.
I found myself getting irritated every time it backfired.
me to it offends my mechanical sensibilities....
Then it's not for you, simple as that :)
I believe that that the vent under the bonnet is for feeding outside air to the turbo's for cooling purposes and not a part of the air intake.
I could do without the farting.
Beautiful from the side.
Nothing else positive to say about the rest of the exterior or interior.
And it sounds like a Mercedes.
As a current shopper for either the Targa or this car, I can say the sense of occasion with the Aston is what makes the difference. Completely agree about the headlights, however.
This or a Targa. There is no competition. The Targa is better in every respect. Surely?
