Great video! I’m in the same boat as you but I started changing the 3$ fee last year and it helped a ton. But I also do t require people to pay by card.
What is your opinion on quickbook intuition? Any good for lawn care businesses? Its the one i use because i was told to but now a bit starting to look around for different apps its good very good but i feel its not perfect fit for me
I spent a lot of time developing my own system for invoicing, billing, reciepts and quoting based off google template that I put my logo on and looks great but is such a time suck and hassle. My second year in business is coming up soon and I'm switching to a software like jobber or yardbook. I wish I had know this was free I would have played around with it sooner! Great video Brian thank's for the help.
We are like millions of other businesses, and use Quickbooks Pro (non-cloud) based software. Pay only once, data is not transmitted to Intuit or anyone else, no ads, no hacking, local bulletproof reliability, and no 100% reliance on internet connectivity. Reports/data is one button clicking with Quicken, and TurboTax. Even in San Jose, CA, I've had the internet drop down for 1-2 days before. An on-line only is a non-starter for our company.
Nothing is free. They (Yardbook) have/keep/maintain/mine your data and insert ads. NOTHING is free. You are giving them your customers names/numbers/addresses/prices/etc... etc... etc... It saves you time, but you are giving away the entire farm...

New bee going full time. So I use yardbooks to manage profiles and create and email invoices. Then I need to transfer that data to a quickens or quick books to manage finances and taxes. Does yard book have both features so it’s all on one platform?
I use Yardbook however the only thing I do not use is the QB intergration, other than that I am pretty in depth with it. I run my chemical tracking and program scheduling, time clock, revenue forecasting I am a big fan of yardbook. I eat the card processing fee, to me it is worth it to have that positive cash flow.
I use yardbook and my CPA can do everything he needs to do from my record keeping because I keep up with all of my expenses and payments through the free version of YB. No need to pay extra for quickbooks.
Just recently started a property service business. Started the RUclips Channel 2 years back at that winter season and watched them all through for winter to summer knowledge. Was just wondering if you can make a video on the proper zero turn set up and how you cut your properties from outlining the property to your lines. Maybe in depth on height cut, which way, when to switch and all that stuff! Love the videos man, keep it up!
Also I eat the processing fees and just adjust my price accordingly over time, And I have about 50% of my customers cards on file to charge as I go. The thing that I don't like about that is when you send them and invoice with an option to tip I get average $1000 per season in tips. When you charge them yourself you can't add that tip. So I like to send them invoice email and let them pay it and if within a week they don't I just charge their card
Food for thought, if you biz is bringing in $5000 Per month with a 1% transaction fee, I would suggest that people start paying for yardbooks. It would be the same cost as "free" and they will waiver the transaction fee of 1%.
Yardbook's and currently running the free version but thinking about upgrading to the premium version due to quick book link and bulk email / text option.
I use yardbook. I don’t use it to its potential either but at least all my customers info/payments are in one spot. I did buy the $30 one. I like being able to email and text from yardbook. Also the %1 CC fee from yardbook goes away which pays for the subscription if you look at it that way. Hey whats up with Brandon
off topic but you always seem to read the comments witch are awesome ive seen some brief coverage of some plant types etc... but when i first started it would of been awesomew to find a video about what to trim what to plant wear some watering back then i mostly learned from google but maybe a walk through of site one would help i currently just mow municipalities now but your videos motivate me to get back into some residential if there full service awesome vids keep it up
Using the free version of Yardbook. It's OK, but their navigation and settings is a cluttered mess. Really want to use Service Autopilot once I start generating revenue.
How do I get in touch with a human at YardBook? I've looked online and I can't find a phone#. I use Jobber and am ok with them but for the price I'm paying, I still have to manually "complete each weekly job for each customer " in order to create invoice and hate how time consuming it is.😬 Does Yardwork allow you to just click on ALL Customer's you set under reoccurring jobs and just send all invoices at one time or do I have to click on every single job completed as well!?? Its exhausting.
Brian, I have a question about the yard book system, I mow yards on a monthly basis and show up every week year-round. would yard books work with an auto invoice and auto payment system. Also is there a way to send a notification to the client every week to let them now we cut the yard that week
Thanks for the software insight. I split the difference with our customers. Residential 2.00 processing Commercial gets it too. Projects get a processing of 3.75 Only one customer in 4 years has complained.
Dude I can totally relate to you experience! I had been using quick books i wanted to get something i could take in the field and I could schedule things so I went to Jobber. I love it so far but I know its not the only way to go
In yardbooks how do you create jobs that you haven't scheduled yet. Ie add all your spring cleanups and then schedule them as you go depending on the weather etc
I have 5 crews out working for me. I’m looking to put a tablet in each truck that takes them with gps to each job site, allows them to clock in at that job, and clock out when they are done and on to the next one. I don’t want it to take them off the clock. I just want to see how long they are spending at each job to make sure they are paying good enough. I found one that does it but it shows what the job pays and what every job I have ever done for that customer. I don’t want my employees to have access to that for obvious reasons. Any recommendations?
Only one thing that gets me with yardbook is they don’t have a easy on the go app I can use my phone (iPhone) with. Jobber has the app and I’ve contemplated using service autopilot to see it it’s any better but I got used to jobber and I know it can do more than I use it for just haven’t sat down to fully understand it yet
I have had yardbook since 2018. I think it’s great in a lot of ways. However the no app for your phone thing is killing me. I need to be able to easily use it in the field. I’m looking at fresh Books now. Not sure what I’ll do but if yardbook had an app I would stay for sure
I am certainly not the brightest crayon in the box so curious to know if this is something you've brought up to your CPA for discussion because I have no idea how one would even begin to compare these. If the processing fees are tax deductible isn't that more in your favor to cover to reduce your overall tax liability? Versus passing the fee over the client and now losing that deduction?
I found LMN to be more geared towards BIG companies. Sample budgets and contracts are in the millions. Was a little frightening, went with yardbook for this season
Your best bet is to use Quick books all the other software companies all integrate QuickBooks to begin with so you might as well just use QuickBooks for everything I use the free version and I am able to do everything for my business invoice credit cards whatever
I use the free version of Yardbook. I did try LMN, but did not like the setup. I will say the budget tool is amazing. Keep crushing it. Thanks for all you do.
Have used adkad groundskeeper for years. Find it to be the easiest. I tried yardbook alongside the adkad for one year to see the functionality. I stayed with the adkad.
I also put the 3% fee to the customer for an online payment... And most of my sumters that do that also include a tip. Don't know why, but they do. Lol
I'm looking for a software program to keep track of all my customers and info, and setup routes with the proper customers in each route, does Yardbook do that ? I don't want it for billing, CC payments or anything like that just customer info, job type schedule etc. just that stuff. does yardbook do that or is there anything else you guys can recommend. Thanks

Perfect timing for this video! I’m using my first software this year and it is of course the Yardbook software. I’m a part timer and was curious in how you handled the fees. This year I may eat them. Next yr I may just charge $3 convenience fee. Like you said it’s gonna add up. I wasn’t too crazy about the 1 week fund availability. It is what it is I guess. Also waiting on Yardbook a to have an app for iPhone.
I'm not sure why you go through this every spring.. pick one program and stick with it. You shouldn't be changing software like you change out equipment. This is your core backbone of your business. Just my .02!
Tons of reasons...they are all OK, but none do it all great and its 2021...software isnt new. They need to get it 100% right. QB 2-way integration being one. yarsdbook is winning this race IMO though.
Hey Brian! Thank for your videos! Who does your videos for your channel. Looking to launch my RUclips channel for my landscape biz? Super appreciate you.

I can do aeration + pre emergent, fertilizer My fear is the herbicide, cause damage to the yard.I know that the aeration is at the moment, and the pre emergent fertelizer too, but I don't know if I can do it together, thanks
What do u use for payroll?? I'm using yard book for management but I'm paying people out of pocket to help me work. I'm on my employer learning curb. How can I get past this.
i found applications for a mechanic to get customers are there any apps like that for lawn care....I want to start my own business and thought well if an app had a customer base and the yard man can log into and select the job he wants to do and goes and does it.....Like the instacart shopper app
Thank you thank you!! Thanks for being REAL not just selling your self and your channel I follow about 10 different you tubers about lawn care, and CLEARLY LMN is trying to get more owner operators or small business or more business. About every channel is trying to get sell LMN to small business @ $200 a month is ridiculous. It clearly has a place, but NOT for owner operators or a business that has a few crews. YARDBOOK is perfect. All in all I pay for the premium on YARDBOOK cause it links with my quick books. Hands down its worth $35 per month. Once again thank you for being REAL. I’ve lost some respect for some YOU TUBERS promoting LMN for a owner operators, and LMN has its place, but for business that does a lot of business.
Hey bud you bet. I’m glad people have sponsorships, doesn’t bother me at all. I’m just offering my perspective on what works for MY sizes business. I’m sure LMN is great for the Troy Cloggs. Doesn’t make sense for the BLM’s for example. Respect.
I have started to pass the fee onto the customer. I understand that you may not have many senior citizen customers, how do you get them to use a credit card? Mine wants to send me checks, which takes some time to get the money. On the upside they pay quickly though.
Simple, if they don’t want to, they just aren’t an ideal client for me. Every other company does this. Verizon, ATT, Mortgage. This isn’t exclusive to lawn care. I have one guy I receive a check from, he’s also 94. Everyone else, they pay by CC. Sorry not sorry :)
I’m using the premium Yardbook. The free version will not let you send certain emails to your customers(that after the trial date). I been using pay on line with stripe but I do not like that they hold 50% percent of your payments for 28 days. They have also holds they first 50% for a week before you see any money. They or Yardbook state you receive your payments in 2 days. That is not right. I do pass on a $3.00 convenient fee to the customer for the use of the one line payment.
Hope you guys enjoyed the video and found some valuable tips inside!

Great video Brian, I have been using yearbook now since 2014 when they started and it saves a lot of time!
Nothing is free. They (Yardbook) have/keep/maintain/mine your data and insert ads. NOTHING is free. You are giving them your customers names/numbers/addresses/prices/etc... etc... etc... It saves you time, but you are giving away the entire farm...
@@garrettstevensen2467 lol
@@garrettstevensen2467 you are giving your info, customer info, And data to any crm's, but you pay for it. Either way their getting all your info and can be hacked despite if it's being paid for or not.
Me and my dad ended up switching to field rocket its free with the same features as jobber... may be worth trying for your biz
Using yardbook since the beginning.
Nothing is free. They (Yardbook) have/keep/maintain/mine your data and insert ads. NOTHING is free. You are giving them your customers names/numbers/addresses/prices/etc... etc... etc... I'm amazed that anyone would put anything of value in there. A hacker's greatest dream.
That's really awesome.
Keep track of the fees.
They’re a write off for your Accountant

I use yardbook and my CPA can do everything he needs to do from my record keeping because I keep up with all of my expenses and payments through the free version of YB. No need to pay extra for quickbooks.
Me and my dad ended up switching to field rocket its free with the same features as jobber... may be worth trying for your biz
How and what do you use for credit/debit cards?
I use yardbook, free version. I really like it. Much better than writing Bill's by hand like I used too..
Yard book changed the game for 100 + customers.
Great video brother. Couldnt express it better try the free versions of all before making your decision which one to use.

The tips are very nice :)
I do miss the tips!
They are also a boost in confidence when times are stressful.
The tips! I usually split the tips with employees for incentive for them to do quality work.

Food for thought, if you biz is bringing in $5000 Per month with a 1% transaction fee, I would suggest that people start paying for yardbooks. It would be the same cost as "free" and they will waiver the transaction fee of 1%.
$35k a year is your break even. The paid plan is $34.95/mo.
Yardbook's and currently running the free version but thinking about upgrading to the premium version due to quick book link and bulk email / text option.
I use Lawn Buddy!
I use yardbook. I don’t use it to its potential either but at least all my customers info/payments are in one spot. I did buy the $30 one. I like being able to email and text from yardbook. Also the %1 CC fee from yardbook goes away which pays for the subscription if you look at it that way. Hey whats up with Brandon

off topic but you always seem to read the comments witch are awesome ive seen some brief coverage of some plant types etc... but when i first started it would of been awesomew to find a video about what to trim what to plant wear some watering back then i mostly learned from google but maybe a walk through of site one would help i currently just mow municipalities now but your videos motivate me to get back into some residential if there full service awesome vids keep it up
I try to in our fall clean up videos. I’m not a plant expert but we’ll see what we can create this season for you, great suggestion ty
Using the free version of Yardbook. It's OK, but their navigation and settings is a cluttered mess. Really want to use Service Autopilot once I start generating revenue.
How do I get in touch with a human at YardBook?
I've looked online and I can't find a phone#.
I use Jobber and am ok with them but for the price I'm paying, I still have to manually "complete each weekly job for each customer " in order to create invoice and hate how time consuming it is.😬
Does Yardwork allow you to just click on ALL Customer's you set under reoccurring jobs and just send all invoices at one time or do I have to click on every single job completed as well!?? Its exhausting.
Just email and their customer support chat. They respond pretty quick actually.
Brian, I have a question about the yard book system,
I mow yards on a monthly basis and show up every week year-round.
would yard books work with an auto invoice and auto payment system.
Also is there a way to send a notification to the client every week to let them now we cut the yard that week
Yes, it would work for you that way.
I do the same but I think is annoying having to do that way but it does work
I think the Yardbook free version is awesome! That’s what I use! Great video!
Me and my dad ended up switching to field rocket its free with the same features as jobber... may be worth trying for your biz
Yardbook since last season so far so good really enjoy it 👍
Initiated with 'YARDBOOK' I can grow in to it! 👊 gonna iinclude the QB option, I didn't know about. Thanks!
I don’t see where the upgraded version of yard book is necessary. The only feature I wish was in the free version would be mass Email.
Thanks for the software insight. I split the difference with our customers. Residential 2.00 processing
Commercial gets it too.
Projects get a processing of 3.75
Only one customer in 4 years has complained.

Keep up the great videos! Are you using Yardbook for your snow removal as well?
Super cool intro!!! Always great content. Starting lawn maintenance business this spring and kicking it off with Yardbook.
Thanks John!

Great advice and great video as always, Brian!
Dude I can totally relate to you experience! I had been using quick books i wanted to get something i could take in the field and I could schedule things so I went to Jobber.
I love it so far but I know its not the only way to go
Me and my dad ended up switching to field rocket its free with the same features as jobber... may be worth trying for your biz
In yardbooks how do you create jobs that you haven't scheduled yet. Ie add all your spring cleanups and then schedule them as you go depending on the weather etc
Quickbooks is overkill, thanks for the vids Im a few years behind where you're at Brian.
Thank you for the info. Going to sign up for Yardbooks; Is there any code I should put in as to who referred me so you get credit? Thank you again.
How long does it take for stripe, through yardbook to send your money to your bank account. My first payment is taking almost a week so far??
4-5 days.
@@BriansLawnMaintenance ok thanks
Yes
I found LMN to be more geared towards BIG companies. Sample budgets and contracts are in the millions. Was a little frightening, went with yardbook for this season
Yup
Me and my dad ended up switching to field rocket its free with the same features as jobber... may be worth trying for your biz

I stayed with the adkad.
adkad doesnt offer mobiles. they need to catch up with tech. i own it from way back but i dont use it

@@mikephelps7421 never heard of it. I’ll check it out.
Thanks
Sure it can. You don’t have to use every feature not by any means but it is great for staying organized.
@@BriansLawnMaintenance Thanks Brian , I actually down loaded yardbook last night to see how it works, Its a great program, I found out about it on you're channel thanks again.
Usually when people use acronyms and initials, they'll establish the meaning first. What's "crm" stand for?
Customer relationship management software. Phew. That’s a mouthful
@@BriansLawnMaintenance 😂 indeed. thanks.
Hey Brian . Can you use yard book on your iPhone? Is there an app because I didn’t. Find one
Just desktop that I know of. I think they have the beta if you email them
Hi Brian, my name is Wil fro Q's Crew Lawncare from Deltona Florida. I love your channel, thank you so much for all the in brother you always bring us to make things better !!!
What can I do to set the credit cards on yard book? Or, is it a way to contact a customer support team from them? I can't seem to find a way to contact them and I can't get it set up.
Hey buddy, we did a whole video on cc on file!
Do you use any software to get dominions for a job. Like from a satellite
There is an Iphone app in beta, but it's not very easy to work. I have it, but I never use it.
Me and my dad ended up switching to field rocket its free with the same features as jobber... may be worth trying for your biz
Every spring I go through this same dilemma. These smaller cost programs are close, but no actual home runs yet.
I have been using yearbook.. I WISH they had a easier routing way….I would love to see a drag an drop
I’ll pass that along!
I work for lawn doctor and we use realgreen
Good Breakdown of the services. Macro and Micro.
Hey Brian! Thank for your videos! Who does your videos for your channel. Looking to launch my RUclips channel for my landscape biz? Super appreciate you.
Congrats man
I use the free version. I don't see a need to get the premium everything I need is free anyway.
great video! is there a yardbook ios app?
I believe so, but you have to email them for it.
Almost a year old, but after using the free version of Yardbook it's great however they should look at the Jobber app. UI. I know it's free, but texts and bulk emails would be a huge bonus.
Me and my dad ended up switching to field rocket its free with the same features as jobber... may be worth trying for your biz
Hey I use quickbooks and it was great for doing big work excavating and snow removal.. but looking to get into something else im assuming yardbook would work. Quickbooks Is nice but it gets confusing.
We still use Yardbook 3 seasons later. I love it. Quickbooks for finances and taxes.
Brian I been using Freshbooks I been thinking of switching to QuickBooks what do you think of those ? And you talked about square and the service charge I add a 3.75 percent to credit card transactions.
Would like hear your opinion on what you think or anyone else for that matter. Thank you btw I love watching your videos
I’ve never used or heard of them sorry but we do utilize QB for our back end office work!
I know this is a super old post. Hopefully you see it. I have used yardbook for years. I’m currently thinking of switching to fresh books. Do you like it? Pros? Cons? Anything will help thanks
I can do aeration + pre emergent, fertilizer My fear is the herbicide, cause damage to the yard.I know that the aeration is at the moment, and the pre emergent fertelizer too, but I don't know if I can do it together, thanks
I have had great luck with yardbook!
How many days does it take for yardbook to process the payment into your bank account?
A couple days with Stripe, maybe 4-5 days I think.
Premium version of Yardbooks for the win!
Your topics are great!
SERVICE AUTOPILOT HAS THE ONLY 2 WAY SYNC WITH QUICKBOOKS IN THE INDUSTRY I BELIEVE
Is yardbook and soo to or just a web page
What do u use for payroll?? I'm using yard book for management but I'm paying people out of pocket to help me work. I'm on my employer learning curb. How can I get past this.
I use a local place by us
Hey I don’t know why I type yard book on my iPhone and look’s like a golf yard age book. This is the one?
Not for iPhone unfortunately
Thank you Bryan great video 👍🏼
I want to get a lawn care maintenance business system ,how can I do that easily thank for your advice
I would suggest a franchise, but I personally would learn on your own from great resources online for free or nominal priced training programs.
i found applications for a mechanic to get customers are there any apps like that for lawn care....I want to start my own business and thought well if an app had a customer base and the yard man can log into and select the job he wants to do and goes and does it.....Like the instacart shopper app
Respect.
How do you get started on jobber Brian,I need couching on soc med thanks
I don’t use Jobber sorry
Reach out to Stripe, after you process 10K or more they are usually considerate to release funds next or 2 day, they did for me
