  • Customers Concern - Airbag light keeps coming back on, light was cleared more that 3 times and keeps coming back.
Scanned vehicle and found SRS fault code (9-3) stored in airbag module, fault code description shows "Faulty driver's seat belt buckle switch".
When testing, found seat belt buckle switch does not correctly recognize when seat belt is intserted. Cleaned switch with electrical contact cleaner. Verified switch now reads correctly when seat belt is being used.
    Cleared fault memory, verified repair.
If problem returns and fault code is stored again, seat belt buckle will have to get replaced complete with buckle switch.

What type of screw driver did you use, seems like mine has a small nipple in the center to stop a regular

Yes, you cannot use a regular TORX bit. It is a "Tamper TORX" bit, these have the hole in center to allow for removal.
      Thank you for the comment.

This ended up being a 3-6 code for me, later on I scanned again and it became a 9-3. 3-6 codes are just a range of possible codes due to poor ground or some other electrical fault that the computer module cant discern. Honda had no idea, I was stumped too. Just clear it and scan again until it becomes a meaningful code.. 3-6 ... thats just what it means, its in the service manual if you search deep... you're welcome.

I’m gonna do this method to my 05 civic 4 Dr lx. I don’t have a scanner with airbag srs capabilities, can I do this without it?

This car the airbag light would turn on and off on its own. Its possible after you fix and give some time the light might turn off (system sees there is no longer a problem), just not 100% sure.

@@thatonecarguy5201 Ok thanks I'm gonna do it anyways. I just don't feel like spending more money on another scanner.

Do I need a scan tool to reset the code, or can an auto parts store do it?

This one needs a scanner able to connect to Airbag/SRS system. The auto parts stores will only clear the engine computer codes for the check engine light.
