low lvl mantras aswell as a lack of elemental effects could be a downside? but tbh they should just nerf the dmg output of attumentless mantras since they get a bunch of talents and can have high wep stats

Ok… right now (surprisingly) I find the game more balanced than most people think it really is. Attunementless is whatever it’s just true strength and pretty straight forward and well rounded See attunements they’re a bit more complicated as they rely more on gimmicks but let’s just focus on single attunements 1 we still have heroblades and legendary weapons so let’s go through all of the build archetypes Gale Curved and wraith claw. Curved is still pretty damn good for suffocation application gale also has INSANE mobility and aerial combos Wraith claw is more insane on the more aggressive side of gale as it is accompanied by a guard break that can be move stacked with gale dash and heavenly wind and quickly used after other mantras but that’s multi attunement territory Flame ok this one kinda got nerfed but it’s still good, flame wisp still heals, phoenix impact also still heals (quite noticeable as well) as long as accessing extra damage buffs with flame within and charged return which with immolation allows you to basically have blazing enchant EVEN with lava serpent to proc emperors flame and that has pretty nasty combos with jetstriker or chainwarden not to mention it has pyrekeeper which got tweaked to be more consistent Frost draw ima be real I don’t really know much about it but it is still really good, I mean frozen legs is utterly broken especially with kyrswinter like come on that can NO LONGER ROLL??? AGAINST THE UNDODGEABLE CRIT??? This literally means frostdraw gets actual true combos that alone I believe makes it truly strong along with powerful crowd control mantras Shadow I feel as if it’s really underrated and people fail to understand how good it’s ether draining really is and how it ultimately decides the fight I mean visionshaper shadow is toxic as hell not only doe the user have dark rift which compliments its off field mantras truly being a menace to the zoning play style, also infinite shadow chains my beloved Ironsing… did you guys really forget the amount of buffs this thing gets? The only downside tbh are the mantras which are slow and require zoning and spacing but for most of their fights they mostly outlast their opponent Thundercall ok this one… this one needs an actual buff surge path is fine but base thundercall buff it this needs a genuine buff or at least fix its talents that’s all I ask, only BROKEN thing right now is the static allure tech with shadow vortex… if you get tethered once or a few times it might be wraps buddy because there’s actually no way to counter this, can’t parry can’t dodge it can’t block it. I haven’t even really gone over the legendary weapons but yeah attunementless is strong but it’s not the best imo, the fact there are so much polarizing sides just proves this game is more balanced than people think and it all stems from the fact that people are just different… but a good player… will always adapt to any build and know how to deal with it and that’s why a lot of good players use attunementless it’s well rounded and gives the right tools to win, revenge is good for snuffing out approaches, the strength mantras are deadly and can bait parries pretty easily, they don’t really have end lag so you can use their crits almost instantly, and the list can go on and on. And well buildmaking really is the beauty of deepwoken. If you’re going reinforced armor I recommend doing that post shrine or investing more in fort since the damage reduction scales based off the required amount of fortitude (idk if you were running reinforced tho)
attunementless is supposed to be a stat-saver for mid talents and a decent weapon in exchange for top tier talents, but for some reason they decided to add a ranged block break (table flip) and made skyshatter one of the most comp mantras
