Tom Cruise is way bigger than the Rock Robert Downey Vin Diesel or Ryan Reynolds i respect Tom for he's dedication
He has been in the industry longer than them. So knows it inside out.
The rock movies are junk food. No real classics. Keanu had some garbage movies. But he also got classics. The rest got just one franchise.
rdj career started from 2008 and peaked in 2019
tom was already established a lister and highest paid actors in 2008 itself
@@random-jn8ec RDJ's career started back in the 70s. He's in the same era as Tom Cruise, Bratt Pitt, Leonardo Dicaprio and Keanu Reeves
And just who were those other guys you mentioned?
I'm always baffled by the crap he gets about jumping on the couch. He had just gotten engaged/married whatever and was head over heels in love and he jumped up and exclaimed that he loved her. How is that a bad thing in any way? Isn't that how we all want to be and feel? Isn't that the sort of thing a character would do in a romantic movie the audience would all aww over? He didn't do anything crazy or outrageous he just jumped up in excitement. He isn't some presidential candidate that needs to look super formal and calm all the time. Nothing wrong with it at all, I'm glad he was so happy.
This month I am rewatching all of his films and it’s been so entertaining. Tom Cruise is dazzling, the greatest living artist, he becomes his characters and he puts everything on the line to tell these incredible stories.
Yes! I can’t think of many actors who are literally putting their life on the line fro their movies. Have fun with the Cruise Marathon.
@@ScottyDunn Thank you! 🙌
He doesn't become the characters; he's mostly always Tom Cruise. Only two films has he not been: Interview with the Vampire and Born on the Fourth of July. his two best performances.
Yeah i thought about that also when watching last of the samurai which is quite a weird movie - but still he really made a character feel real even if the script really shouldnt be able to pull it off. He really is a good actor.
@@orangewarm1 Tropic Thunder!
Been a fan of Tom Cruise since I was a kid in the 80s. I didn’t abandon him back in the mid 2000s like everyone else. So to see him now, at age 60, still a star and still relevant is very heartening. It’s great to see that that whole fiasco is not even an afterthought now.
Some thoughts about his rant on the MI set:
1. Those crew members didn’t follow protocol before and were warned, not fired.
2. The 2nd time (the rant) they still weren’t fired.
3 he was right in his rant. Hollywood and movie theaters are on the ledge of a cliff teetering. If it wasn’t for Maverick, a lot of theaters would be even closer to going broke. MI will probably help them more.
He has every right as the boss to chastise people on the set who jeopardize the entire movie being shut down by the health people and losing tens of millions of dollars every day. They were lucky they weren’t fired…again.
Absolutely!
they should be fire then...
@@memd777 yes. It’s too risky to have two dummies jeopardize hundreds of millions of dollars like that.
@@pduidesign couldn"t agree more brother my uncle owns a theatre here in nepal and because of covid and ott he said it's tough to handle the expenses and then comes three movies RRR from telegu, KGF2 from kannada and the man TOM CRUISE with maverick. He was so grateful for these movies that i could actually see it in his eyes while he was speaking. I am sure maverick brought happiness to all the theatre owners across the globe.
Would be good if spoke up like he did about mental health
Seen top gun 2 a couple of weeks ago.
This guy just seems to get better .
Best film I've seen in ages
It was great seeing it in IMAX!
wish I could but I can't justify spending 30 bucks for the imax seat. 20 is the most I would go but not 30. at this point I will watch a pirate copy for free once it is online somewhere.
I saw Top Gun and Jurassic World around the same time. The difference in quality and coherent storytelling was just staggering. I never left a theater early, but came close with JW. Top Gun was simply brilliant.
Going to see the movie a second time. This time with a couple of beers. ;)

Don't deprive yourself ot won't be the same .
It's clear Tom is a) utterly committed to the craft of movies, b) enjoys life, c) respects the audience and everyone on set - he's the ultimate team-player , d) he MUST be a great leader - no-one talks about this but to Produce and star in that many movies, he must posses staggering leadership skills.
I saw Maverick last week and was suitably impressed - then on the weekend I re-watched Collateral - which is a unique movie and character in his catalog. The man knows how to stretch himself. Respect.
Thank you for been so honest about saying everything about people. Actors like Tom Cruise. Yes his on the '"CRAFT" I should explain it little bit. CRAFT meas his on some kind of CULT of course nothing to do with are lord Jesus Christ. But om not texting nothing else hopefully you get the idea...
His rant was absolutely justified, and I don’t have to have a billion dollar franchise on my shoulders to know that. Those morons should be glad they weren’t fired on the spot, and the way he phrased his sentences, made it clear this wasn’t the first time.
They were probably doing their jobs and needed to talk. Tom lost the cool because there was a very real danger of shut down if an outbreak happened.
@@bighands69 Yes, they fucked up. I was the Health & Safety logistics coordinator for Knives Out 2, people go out of their way to fuck it up. Do I like it myself? Absolutely not, but there are rules for a reason and quite simply they have to be followed.
@@alexman378
It is not easy working a job and not being close to people. Especially in the heat of the moment when there is an issue. Tom just lost the cool and they probably were too focused on running the set and just made a mistake.
@@bighands69 Again, I’ve been there, I know how it is. Is it easy? No, but none of us are forced to be there. Most parents try to talk their kids out of going into film, not the other way around. If you’re there and you’re working there, you accept the difficulty that is being on set and you go along with it. Cruise didn’t lose his cool, he responded in a manner that he’d be listened to, and again, they were lucky they weren’t fired on the spot.
I really enjoyed this video. I had the opportunity to work on the film Collateral. I got to see 1st hand what he is like on a set, and I have to say, he made all the difference. An amazing guy who works hard, cares about people and loves to laugh. Meeting him changed my life. He gave me some advice that I would like to share. He told me: Be where you love to be. Work with people that you love and admire. I was calling him the ambassador of hugs because he gave so many away to the many extras, stunt people and crew. A really really solid guy. Thank you for making this video!
Hey thank you! I really enjoyed Collateral. Very different role for him at the time. It’s cool hearing he’s a good guy in real life. And very cool that you were working on set alongside him.
@@ScottyDunn He's the real deal. I can honestly say he helped me change directions. A solid brother through and through.
Collateral is my favorite Tom Cruise movie, he did an outstanding job! Except for the ending, he should have own the gun fight. 😔
Loved Collateral!
No way! You got to work on "Collateral"?! That's one of my favorite movies ever! And thanks for sharing that advice; I'll try to remember that too!
Tom Cruise movies are like its own genre. That's how good they are
I'm not a fan of any celebrity but there are handful of artist that I deeply respect and admire. Tom Cruise is one of them. His sheer commitment and will to evolve his craft is just extraordinary.
There is no one like him. I grew up watching his movies from the beginning of his career. Living legend.
He's gotten almost as big as Will Smith. Impressive!
@@genox3636 tom cruise is way bigger of a movie star then will smith ever was.
@@mrpk1719 no, will Smith is a megastar
@@mrpk1719 Tom cruise is nowhere near his level.
@@genox3636 really? You seriously believe that?
He's been a star for 4 decades. Four. Freaking. Decades.
He should consider playing more villains bc he's one of the best ever in Collateral.
For some reason. I also have been watching all the Tom cruise past movies which I’ve watched them all already in the past. I almost forgot how talented and entertaining he’s always been. I hope he never stops making movies. I don’t think Hollywood would be half as glamour as it is today had Tom cruise not be in it. He’s truly a excellent actor. What a classy Super star.
I’ve loved Tom Cruise ever since I was in 1st grade when I saw MI: III. Truly an amazing actor who I’m glad is FINALLY getting the respect he’s owed
He totally deserves the respect he’s getting.
How are you today? I hope you keep enjoying my movies,so where are you from? And which of my films would you say is your favorite?
He is an actor who never gets old, of course I mean his acting not his age, many of his movies I can watch again and again.... Risky Business, Edge of Tomorrow come instantly to mind. Whatever he does you believe it, he settles into any character naturally and comfortably, I can watch 2 completely different movies of his back to back and get invested each time. I think his secret is he picks his roles well and he does whatever it takes to make the best experience he can for the viewer and he surrounds himself with talented like mind people. An all round winner
Tom Cruise hasn't aged
I started watching Tom Cruise on the big screen with Risky Business. He was amazing. Ever since then, I have been a huge fan of him. The jumping on the couch thing? It didn't bug me, nor his Scientology gig either simply because nobody / very few people can do what Tom has done. As far as I am concerned, Tom can walk down Times Square buck naked and I would not think less of him as an actor, and an amazing performer. And as you noted, his longevity alone is, well, unparalleled. I can't think of anyone whose career that has lasted for such a period of time, and let's not even talk about content (doing his own stunts, and flying his own planes & helicopter). Bigger than life? That is Tom. And I am so very happy to be alive in this era of Tom, to witness his stardom and to enjoy his movies. Tom is the definition of living life to the fullest and doing what we should all be doing - living the dream.
Thanks for the video recap!
Tom Cruise is a crazy F!@#$ genius. His movies look amazing because he does his own stunts. He's 100% committed to all his roles. Makes great original ideas, not all sequels or known IP. Outside of the MI movies, which he made a franchise, he's done two sequels and one was this year after he's been acting since the early 80s. The man is a legend.
I think it is more than just his stunts I think he has an understanding of what makes a good movie same as what Clint Eastwood and Spielberg have. Those instincts cannot be taught.
@@bighands69 he sticks to old school way of entertaining the audience.
I have no issue with labelling Tom Cruise the GOAT! Living legend!
I only ever considered Tom Cruise as a ‘movie star’ until I saw Eyes Wide Shut and at that point I realised he was also a superb actor. There are so many moments in that movie you get lost in his performance. After that I realised you can be a great actor and a movie star at once, but few achieve that.
You should watch Magnolia and vanilla sky too what a performance it was 😮😮
Very good documentary. Tom Cruise is an absolute legend for us film makers and movie lovers. I'm definitely excited about his space movie now though, lol.
Thanks Patreck. That space movie is going to be insane. Tom's doing a lot of personal record breaking lately with Maverick becoming his biggest hit ever and now space.
To stay relevant for decades is a hard feat to do for anyone, especially to someone whose been (and still is) a favorite target of the public to shame.
Top Gun Maverick's success will always be a big reminder to people that Tom Cruise is an epitome of a movie star whether they want to admit it or not.
The man is undoubtedly a legend
Regardless of what you think about his religion, the Oprah thing etc He's one of the best actors of his generation. The number one reason .... his work ethic. The training and stunts he does for movies like The Last Samurai, Mission Impossible movies, Collateral to name a few. Second to training like this is Keanu Reeves. Cruise is the guru or master to which all others has to follow. He can also act in movies that don't require stunt, fighting etc. He's my favorite actor!
I really like Cruise in "The Firm", "Minority Report" and recently "Edge of Tomorrow."
I wish he still did more dramatic fare nowadays. I like action movies fine, but stuff like Jerry Maguire and Magnolia are unforgettable and legendary. Even still, Tom is a wonderful actor and personality to behold. I’m glad we still have him.
Magnolia is an example of how loose Cruise can be with roles when he wants to. Same with Jerry Maguire. I feel like Jerry is his funniest role.

I suspect that he is now 60 years of age he has wanted to do more action movies before he decides to hang those boots up.
And will then go back to more drama driven movies. He could make those movies for a fraction of what it costs for the action movies and they would still be big hits.
@@bighands69 American made was pretty good. It had him flying which he likes but it wasn't really action driven.
I hope when he retires from acting, he goes for directing. Tom has an eye on how movies are made. Could easily make some terrific Banger movies.
The ultimate star who puts everything on line for his performance.Nobody can dare to do the stunts he perform himself risking his life... That is the commitment. Tom Cruise a name that evokes billions of emotions. My respect sir
Cruise is a phenomenon in himself. Mad respect and admiration for this man, regardless of how crazy some might think he is.
I don’t get why should we care for what he believes in or what he does in his own time. He’s not our friend, his decisions affect himself, we get no say in that. What his responsibility to us is, is to deliver a good movie with a thrilling performance, and he always seems to go above and beyond for that. He’s amazing at what he does, and he indeed is always respectful of his audience, so why should we make it our business what he thinks or does in his own time?
The Firm was my favorite until Top Gun: Maverick, now they are tied! The Firm represent!
I don't need every actor to go above and beyond like Cruise does, but of course i'm going to respect and support it when they do.
no matter how yer pissed with him as scientologist... tom work ethic and discipline is remarkable
You would say the same about a Muslim?

Tom Cruise is the very definition of separate the artists life journey from his art. He's one of those artist that made me less care about everything he does on his private life and just appreciate his hard work, and we should always treat great artist that way. Unless they can't backup their personalities with great work, well they do deserve to be criticized
Just watched the first mission impossible a couple days ago - Tom is great 👍
I love the first one 😎 the intensity was spot on. Also one of the simper Missions yet very memorable.
Hes so good
The dissapointing Days of Thunder was a fun movie with great filming and a fantastic soundtrack worth a watch from time to time. His worst films are pretty good.
It wasn't until I saw Tom Cruise in Interview With A Vampire is when I became a believer. I had never seen him act like that before. And then to find out everything that he did to prepare for the role is a testament to how good of an actor he really is. I hated The Queen of the Damned and not sure how I feel about the new Interview with a Vampire series absent Tom Cruise.
He was excellent in Rain Man, Born on the Fourth of July, A Few Good Men and the Firm to name a few.
He is not the greatest actor but one of the best modern performers that knows how to entertain.
I loved him as lestat, and read the books before the movie was even on the radar. Tom really gets into character.

Seen Top Gun Maverick 4 times in theaters, and actually would love to see it again...
Tc is never over exposed on social media.... he has kept his aura like has denzil, decaprio.... whereby someone like will has damaged his most recently.... he has that big box office appeal that makes u wanna go to the theater.... even after flops...
Let me tell you something about "Days Of Thunder"! I watched that movie as a child back in the day plus several more times 'til present day. I liked it very much then and I like it very much now! I think it's a good movie! And Cruise's scientology thing is his business, not anyone else's.
He's a great and successful actor mostly because he puts himself on the line, works his butt off, and really wants to deliver. He's not one to phone something in, he wants to leave a mark. And he has done that with a consistency that's pretty unparalleled in this business. In his personal life, he might be pretty nutty, but as an entertainer, I respect him immensely. My personal favorite is The Edge of Tomorrow, but I'm a sucker for movies like Groundhog Day.
Risky Business, the OG Top Gun, The Color of Money, A Few Good Men, Born on the 4th of July, Days of Thunder, the MI series, Vanilla Sky, Minority Report, War of the Worlds, Rain Man, Jerry Maguire, Eyes Wide Shut, Magnolia, Oblivion, Edge of Tomorrow, The Firm, The Last Samurai, Collateral, Valkyrie, American Made, Top Gun Maverick and last but not the least - his insanely funny performance in Tropic Thunder. I have enjoyed every single Tom Cruise movie I have ever watched in my life. And I cannot say that about any other actor. For me, he is not just the biggest movie star alive today but the greatest movie star of all time.
The guy has been doing it for 40 years. Unreal.

Anthony Mackie, the Falcon from the MCU but real intellectuals know him as Clarence from 8 Mile, talked a few years back about how the era of movie stars was over and the superheroes and franchises have become movie stars. Tom Cruise is awesome.
Super stardom all comes down to the curiosity of the unknown . Social media killed celebrities, the magic is gone. Michael Jackson and Tom Cruise were/are the last of their kind.
Good point about the mystique being gone. That went a long way in giving stars that X factor.
I feel like we could still name a bunch of "movie stars". Like Tom Cruise, Will Smith as cited in this video, even Johnny Depp. There are no words to describe how ADORED Johnny Depp is, for example in Asia. Now I'd say the difference between Tom Cruise and the other two for example, is that at the end of the day, Tom Cruise didn't sacrifice his identity and wants to big studios. Yes, he's part of huge movies like the Mission Impossible movies, but he's also the main producer of these movies: so they go as he wants them to go. I'd say the difference between Tom Cruise and the other two is that Tom Cruise used his power as a movie star to make HIS movies as he wants to make them, and WHEN he wants to make them (ie: Top Gun Maverick, or the recent MI movies). Contrary to, again, Johnny Depp who got eaten by Disney (and WB tbh), and Will Smith who kinda suffered the same fate with yknow, sequels that weren't so worth it (for example, the last Men in Black movie). I do feel like the two cited above prefer smaller scale movies, whereas Tom Cruise wants more and more, and that also differenciates them. Where Johnny Depp and Will Smith don't really seem to thrive on Hollywood power and its use, Tom Cruise is like a fish in the sea, he does what he wants and he's not afraid of it. He's super high in Hollywood and he's perfectly comfortable in that seat, whereas we can easily see that Johnny Depp kiiiinda never wanted to be there? On the other hand, I believe that Will Smith for example, is the "movie star" that pleases people who want to see "a family man", that image works perfectly for him and on that level, Tom Cruise cannot compete lol. (I also feel like "old school" actors are also movie stars, like Bruce Willis, Jackie Chan, Harrison Ford, even Schwarzenegger who attracked a huge crowd for the last Terminator movie... unfortunately it was shit. But they're mostly not doing movies anymore, so they're in the backburner, when Tom Cruise is still front and center. But for example, were Jackie Chan to promote a film today, he'd attract A LOT of people).
I am beginning to realize that my top 5 favorite films are being overtaken by Tom Cruise movies. It used to be just The Last Samurai was in my top 5, now I don't think I can leave Maverick off the list, and MI Fallout is fighting for a top spot as well. He is the last movie star for sure, there may never be another like him, we should be glad to live alongside him.
Glad to hear from you.
Thank you for your love and support.
Where are you watching from?
On the note that you'd wish he could sit and watch TV for once: he makes an effort to watch a movie (or an episode) a night (day, I don't know his sleeping schedule).
