When you said "we don't have to go into crazy photoshoots or hire amazing artists, we can just use our imagination to create them", you are actually implying that they will actually not get those jobs now. People WILL actually lose their jobs, if they haven't already.
Times change and we have to change with them. Ignoring the advancements and not using them yourself goes against embracing change and can negatively effect your own marketability.

I think the issue of you as a samurai warrior was to train the AI not to make you Japanese but to use a version more realistic to you. Add that to the prompt and see how it turns out.
Luma is basically Instant NGP and uses NeRF AI. i've been given access to it and it works well but it's very resource heavuy. And Dalle2 is scarily good. Like, i create amazing pics from my existing images. Because the people in my images are all made using AI, what i do is i upload it to Dalle and then erase out their body and bg and then generate realistic, detailed body with bg!! i will swear by that AI forever.
I was really inspired by your video! It reminded me of another AI-based design tool I came across, known as Stylar ai. This web tool has a feel similar to Photoshop, offering features like LOGO/architectural design styles, and it's more user-friendly. However, it's still quite basic and seems to be in a beta phase.

I’m sure artists like Stefan Kostic, the illustrator mentioned in the prompt on Lexica, don’t appreciate machine learning applications being trained using their original works (i.e., intellectual property) without their consent or approval. Likewise, I’m sure artists wouldn’t appreciate fellow creatives, designers, or other commercial entities using AI to replicate work in their style instead of hiring them. This all seems morally objectionable to me. I realize the adoption and use of these tools is inevitable, but we should be talking more about the ethics of AI art tools. AI shouldn’t be trained on living artist’s intellectual property without consent, and people shouldn’t be using living artist’s names in their prompts.
I think this is an interesting debate. The border between inspiration & imitation was always a hot discussion topic. Does imitating or referencing classic artist is ok vs living artists? All new work is remix of old ideas in a new way
Using generative AI applications like DALL-E 2 and Stable Diffusion to generate art in the style of another artist is not the same thing as taking inspiration, imitating, or referencing that artist. It takes significant time and effort for a person to develop the artistic ability to produce an original piece of art of comparable quality to another artist’s master work. These applications have been built to eliminate the need for skilled labor. They are intended to be a replacement for artists and illustrators. Saying that it’s “inspiration & imitation” is a mischaracterization of what’s happening. The use of this software won’t lead to a new generation of skilled artists inspired by the works of others to create new transformative works. If anything, these ‘tools’ will likely dissuade many young people from pursuing the craft. I don’t see anything wrong with using artwork that is in the public domain (i.e., classic artists) to train machine learning algorithms. These works are no longer covered by copyright law. The problem I see here is that these applications were trained on data that was scraped from the web, including vast amounts of copyrighted works from living artists without any consent or compensation. They are stealing from artists to build an application that is meant to replace the artists they stole from. It’s absolutely not ok.
@@mwellsworth is it really your main concern that people will require significantly less time to produce comparable results to those who take the time and effort to develop skills? you can keep doing the hard work for as long as you wish, others will take shortcuts using new technology. My second argument was that it is unethical to use a living artist’s name in prompts to replicate their style instead of hiring them. Speaking to your point, it’s my understanding as well that many artists and designers struggled when the industry shifted from traditional tools to digital tools. I would argue that this is a much more significant change to our industry than that. This is not just some new toolset that illustrators and designers must adopt to stay relevant. This is a replacement for the need to hire illustrators or designers at all. These tools will continue to improve as more and more people use them. Ultimately, there will be fewer jobs for illustrators and designers, because businesses will choose to write their own prompts instead of hiring someone else to do it for them. I agree that people should anticipate this and reposition themselves as needed to avoid any impacts to their livelihood.

Paraphrasing, but 4m 30s “now you don’t need to hire photographers or artists”, 8m 30s “now you don’t need to hire writers/copywriters” …just two of the half dozen examples I felt directly contradicted your assertion in the intro, that these technologies aren’t going to impact the workplace landscape or job market of designers, when creatives and makers of original art are clearly being impacted. The art hanging in your friend’s bar comes to mind. 😅 That just seems incredibly naive given the very early stage of these technologies. Given that it is literally already happening, and you describe it happening. Will it take 2, 5, or 10 years before I could craft a prompt that generates a “good enough” version of this very video, …slickly edited, intoned and presented by a charismatic, fully AI gen’d host, softly lit by red and blue RUclips lighting…selling me something in perfect AIDA form. Not to say *you* don’t bring something special, my human, you do. Seriously, don’t be so dramatic. So what if you can create a piece of art for your own bar, I mean he could’ve asked his 5 yr old cousin to draw him something to hang, would you cry that he took a job away from an artist? What about his grandmother knitting him a sweater? No need for fashion designers, I guess. Oh no, his sister made a meal of a recipe. Guess chefs are out too.. People became digital artist at some point and found ways to utilize it for themselves. People will master the Art of being an AI-artist, unlike most people that won’t know more than some basics. If you’re an artist you’re an artist. That means something way beyond any means or tools. Everybody can pick up a pencil, brush or install some software, but the result will never compare to that of an artist’s essential knowledge/creativity to that of some ‘anybody’ doing something for fun or for themself.
You assert at the top the AI is not going to replace artists, and then you proceeded to talk about how you’re generating paintings for a restaurant using AI. Look, Buggywhip sales have gone way down since automobiles came into existence. So I’m not arguing that things can’t change. But there’s some thing fundamental about the idea of an artist who is actually creating a work, and then using tools whether it be a paint brush, a pen, Photoshop, etc., to generate art that has been bought, to the actual idea of an artist, the AI takes away. Not only this, but one could argue that because the AI is using other artists work to train, there’s actually a form of plagiarism going on here. In other words, not only are those who are talented as artists no longer getting to be paid between 100 and $1000 for each of the paintings you put up in your friends restaurant, but arguably their work, or artists work like them, is being adopted directly so that you can have this opportunity. It’s fortunate that websites like deviant art are starting to provide protection from this sort of theft, but to pretend like this isn’t going to put artists out of work is crazy. People with absolutely zero talent can come in and get what look like paintings without giving any attribution or payment to the original artist. It is a bit tricky, because any human artist will have looked at the works of other artists, and be inspired by them. And they don’t necessarily have to attribute or pay those artists for getting those influences. That said, whether you think that there’s a way to give payment to the original artist or not, there’s no doubt in my mind that the idea of an artist is going to be very limited Once this AI gets trained up. But what’s funny to me is that you think that because you are learning to do good props that that’s going to give you a job. While it certainly will in the short term, you realize that these prompts are very likely being saved within the AI as well. Which means that it won’t be long before there will be an AI that can craft a prompt just like yours. That means in short order, this new tool that you’ve grown to use won’t need you anymore. Your friend the restaurant owner will just go to the AI prop system and it will help them craft a better prompt, and they won’t need you.
You can’t own a style much less copyright it. And just because it uses existing pieces as building blocks, it’s mostly changed significantly. And just because AI makes it easier, it’s not something one couldn’t have done before with likes of photoshop or a glue stick and some scissors. It’s like saying recipes are unethical towards professional chefs, allowing anybody to just make the same dish at home. Why deny everybody from creating some form of a nice meal at home or a piece of artwork for that matter. Didn’t wipe out pro-chefs/cooks either. There is still the ‘artist’ vs ‘anyone’. Where the artist will imagine and create their own original that will always be more valued and desired, same as the culinary artist. If anything the originals from a specific artist will probably rise in value later on because of it being originals. And besides, I’d feel pretty proud to have people use my work/style as their inspirational foundation to finally have a means to help try and envision their imagination, that before remained lost in incapability. As for the Artist, time to level up, like when someone became a digital artist, now become a AI-artist and utilize it to all kinds of creative/production benefits, unlike everybody else just knowing some basics if at all. There will still be extreme differences in results made by an actual artist and their knowledge/creativity and that of just any random ‘promter’. See it as a new level/opportunity to proof being an artist is more than that!
@@M.D.M.X A few things here First, my main point was that the author of the video was suggesting that AI would not replace artists, and then turns around and says how he’s using AI to replace artists. I think it is naïve to believe that a lot of artists won’t lose work because AI is democratizing decorative art. Second, if you follow the court case with blurred lines, you will discover that juries apparently are starting to think that you can in fact copyright a style. I actually don’t agree with that court case, but if you watch carefully, I think you’ll find that that form of copyright is going to change. Third, if you are an artist and you want AI to use your art and you don’t care, that’s your right. However, I’ve seen several videos that now show that AI is doing more than just “borrowing style”, artists have been demonstrating that the AI is basically taking their entire background of a work that is a Portrait, and then replacing the face with a different person. I would argue that that is more infringing than being inspired by someone style. So I guess my point really is, if you are currently an artist to actually create new works, whether you think that you as an actual artist being inspired by Leonardo Vinci or Van Gogh, or whoever is infringing or not, the truth of the matter is that within a short amount of time, I guess five years, if you are a portrait artist, a landscape artist, someone who paints elevations for architects, I believe you will find yourself out of work. And sure, you can learn how to use these tools to do the work faster. But what you’re also fine is that your clients are going to be paying a lot less, and it’s my observation as a former full-time graphic designer that unless you got on a track with a big company, most small businesses don’t really care about the details. Good enough is good enough, and so when somebody’s cousin‘s nephew is able to throw a website together, they almost don’t care if it works or not. They just wanted to have something up. I found that I could no longer make a living building websites because I couldn’t leap up to doing server coding, and now nobody was willing to pay for good quality low end coating. And of course things like square space etc. that have pre-built templates also undermines that as a business. Which means that if you think about it, if you were an artist, these AI art creating tools are going to put you out of business. Maybe you’ll still be able to make some money, but you’re going to actually have to get a lot more clients in order to make the same money. Hopefully, there will be people who will value actual artists who are doing physical work in a physical medium, but I suspect that digital artists especially are going to be highly impacted by this over the next five or 10 years. The ones who survive are going to be the ones who are better at business, because the only way to make the same money is to get more clients. There will be a fraction, I’d say 10 to 20%, who may continue to do OK because they have relationships they give them ongoing work. But the truth of the matter is, much like industrial production is going more and more towards automation, so to all the creative arts. I would guess in 100 years, not only will artists and graphic designers essentially be obsolete, but so will writers, actors, and many other types of creative people. Which I’ll end up with is the richest folks having access to the best technology and one person will in fact be able to create an entire movie, marketing campaign, or other creative works without the input of other folks. At that point, it will be interesting to see whether or not there is a backlash from society that will look to get “authentic“ works from actual people rather than somebody putting in a prompt into an AI.
@@EliotHochberg On your first point, it’s not replacing artists - it’s simply an alternative to ‘art’ for those interested and/or at this point even remotely capable of (successfully) creating. Could in cases be an unfortunate change in preference over a (current employed) artist, sure. But that artist will still be an artist and there will still be a market for them. The value of authentic, original and human made art will stand its own, like it has for centuries. Physical art painters weren’t wiped out by digital art. Yet people are yelling ‘the sky is falling’ like AI-art is being sold for thousands left and right…. But to be fair, although harsh, no one is obligated to hire an artist for any type of (decorative) art that’s also heavily dependent on personal taste. It’s irrelevant whether it be for one piece for a local corner cafe or the global product/marketing of an international business. Specially if done cheaper and faster. With that said, it’s actually not only naive, but selfish and short sighted to stand in the way of a possible innovation that can globally reach countless people, occupations, businesses, fields, organizations etc which could simplify, enrich, enhance or any other beneficial aspect. Not to mention the potential to help initiate any other (unrelated) innovations and what/who that may affect. Making (in this case) an artists potential/temporary loss of employment unfortunate, but unavoidable. Like many innovations that we are all currently using have caused numerous loss in jobs, those losses are still a fraction of the provided betterment it gained for many, if not most. Second, copyright law may tighten slightly, or it may in lieu be loosened slightly. Nonetheless, style is relative at best and not specific enough to pinpoint to claim ownership. It’s grouped things that are (non factually) used/made/considered to look similar and/or fit together in some way. If it would, it would extent to and crippling many other ‘free will’ choice outlets, such as fashion, music/film etc. Third, I agree that if it is clearly someone’s art with just some detail altered and not significantly changed beyond comparison there should be some kind of preventative measures in place to the intent of owner protection/compensation by either have name/term be removable from ‘prompt’ usage. Or have the artist be payed per ‘prompt’ use like for example musical artist with song streaming. But beyond that, I think you’re underestimating how essential artist are, always have been and will continue to be. It’s one of the oldest form of beauty ‘occupation’ from cave drawings to priceless musea pieces to Spider-Man Movies. Innovation might come firs, but it’s the true artist that will master it and then make it their own. So many times that there was a new significant change or additional form within the art or creation space it wasn’t the new thing that allowed what it was, it was the artist that took that new tool, upgrade or tech and people wanted and specially businesses needed them to stand out and use human imagination. Small businesses care enough to go (specially nowadays) with the current times or lose out, like now, they might not be super advanced, but will pay accordingly for a professional. So it’s either they don’t care enough for this new thing and continue to pay for a current level digital artist or pay more for someone offering this new and more difficult tool. Digital times that gave tablets, procreate, photoshop, illustrator etc it never had been easier for non artist to make art and yet it remained basics for most people, but it were artist that took and ran with it beyond any expectations that no company could resist. Last few things: 1. You underestimate the importance and never ending need for creativity, it’s what fuels evolution. 2. Speculating about what will (not) be 100 yrs over this has no point for now. 3. The most expensive pieces of art currently in world are all made many generations before any current complaining digital artist.

I have been using AI since 2000 to create art work. Edit my photographs. Write books. I also use AI to produce music. It's very useful. From the beginning they told people computers are AI. Any software we use inside it is a tool. Thank you for this video. It's very informative.

Few solutions here: I advice artists to add spelling errors intentionally, Use deliberately watermarked Images and develop unique codenames for their product designs every other Instance when we share our work online. let them develop their own Databases and buy images from Artists.

Who owns the final artwork that you used for your client's work? This is a question that I have found very few video posters willing to discuss. IP is going to be a treacherous road to navigate if left unknown. If you used someone's stock photography image and altered it. Is it yours? Is it public domain? Is it property of the AI engine? If it is not yours does that mean anybody can use it? Does that become a problem for the original photographer whose work you used?
Improving the productivity of employees by necessity reduces the number of available jobs. That doesn't mean the technology is the problem. But we cannot just embrace AI without recognizing the ramifications and pushing for policies that will mitigate those issues, which ABSOLUTELY includes job loss. Being among the few who survive the fallout should not Blind people to the Costs, and instead should recognize their responsibility to help work towards ensuring that the adoption of new technologies goes hand in hand with updating policies and social and economic paradigms to ensure the cost isn't a, never before seen, body count. Not a denial of the existence of potential consequences.

These applications have been built to eliminate the need for skilled labor. They are intended to be a replacement for artists and illustrators. Saying that it’s “inspiration & imitation” is a mischaracterization of what’s happening. The use of this software won’t lead to a new generation of skilled artists inspired by the works of others to create new transformative works. If anything, these ‘tools’ will likely dissuade many young people from pursuing the craft.
I don’t see anything wrong with using artwork that is in the public domain (i.e., classic artists) to train machine learning algorithms. These works are no longer covered by copyright law. The problem I see here is that these applications were trained on data that was scraped from the web, including vast amounts of copyrighted works from living artists without any consent or compensation. They are stealing from artists to build an application that is meant to replace the artists they stole from. It’s absolutely not ok.

you can keep doing the hard work for as long as you wish, others will take shortcuts using new technology. Pushing pixels around to create illustrations and design was once considered a threat and cheating.

Speaking to your point, it’s my understanding as well that many artists and designers struggled when the industry shifted from traditional tools to digital tools. I would argue that this is a much more significant change to our industry than that. This is not just some new toolset that illustrators and designers must adopt to stay relevant. This is a replacement for the need to hire illustrators or designers at all.
These tools will continue to improve as more and more people use them. Ultimately, there will be fewer jobs for illustrators and designers, because businesses will choose to write their own prompts instead of hiring someone else to do it for them.
I agree that people should anticipate this and reposition themselves as needed to avoid any impacts to their livelihood.

Paraphrasing, but 4m 30s “now you don’t need to hire photographers or artists”, 8m 30s “now you don’t need to hire writers/copywriters” …just two of the half dozen examples I felt directly contradicted your assertion in the intro, that these technologies aren’t going to impact the workplace landscape or job market of designers, when creatives and makers of original art are clearly being impacted. The art hanging in your friend’s bar comes to mind. 😅 That just seems incredibly naive given the very early stage of these technologies. Given that it is literally already happening, and you describe it happening.
Will it take 2, 5, or 10 years before I could craft a prompt that generates a “good enough” version of this very video, …slickly edited, intoned and presented by a charismatic, fully AI gen’d host, softly lit by red and blue RUclips lighting…selling me something in perfect AIDA form.
Not to say *you* don’t bring something special, my human, you do. But so does the struggling artist whose work is not in a bar, the photographer, the copywriter, and on and on down the line… where does it end?
To be clear, I love these technologies, and I know there is no going back. It’s too exciting in a way to want to go back! But we have to be more wide-eyed and honest about the impact, for all creatives …and yes, also designers. ❤

So what if you can create a piece of art for your own bar, I mean he could’ve asked his 5 yr old cousin to draw him something to hang, would you cry that he took a job away from an artist? What about his grandmother knitting him a sweater? No need for fashion designers, I guess. Oh no, his sister made a meal of a recipe. Guess chefs are out too.. People became digital artist at some point and found ways to utilize it for themselves. People will master the Art of being an AI-artist, unlike most people that won’t know more than some basics. If you’re an artist you’re an artist. That means something way beyond any means or tools. Everybody can pick up a pencil, brush or install some software, but the result will never compare to that of an artist’s essential knowledge/creativity to that of some ‘anybody’ doing something for fun or for themself.

You assert at the top the AI is not going to replace artists, and then you proceeded to talk about how you’re generating paintings for a restaurant using AI.
Look, Buggywhip sales have gone way down since automobiles came into existence. So I’m not arguing that things can’t change.
But there’s some thing fundamental about the idea of an artist who is actually creating a work, and then using tools whether it be a paint brush, a pen, Photoshop, etc., to generate art that has been bought, to the actual idea of an artist, the AI takes away. Not only this, but one could argue that because the AI is using other artists work to train, there’s actually a form of plagiarism going on here. In other words, not only are those who are talented as artists no longer getting to be paid between 100 and $1000 for each of the paintings you put up in your friends restaurant, but arguably their work, or artists work like them, is being adopted directly so that you can have this opportunity. It’s fortunate that websites like deviant art are starting to provide protection from this sort of theft, but to pretend like this isn’t going to put artists out of work is crazy. People with absolutely zero talent can come in and get what look like paintings without giving any attribution or payment to the original artist.
It is a bit tricky, because any human artist will have looked at the works of other artists, and be inspired by them. And they don’t necessarily have to attribute or pay those artists for getting those influences. That said, whether you think that there’s a way to give payment to the original artist or not, there’s no doubt in my mind that the idea of an artist is going to be very limited Once this AI gets trained up.
But what’s funny to me is that you think that because you are learning to do good props that that’s going to give you a job. While it certainly will in the short term, you realize that these prompts are very likely being saved within the AI as well. Which means that it won’t be long before there will be an AI that can craft a prompt just like yours. That means in short order, this new tool that you’ve grown to use won’t need you anymore. Your friend the restaurant owner will just go to the AI prop system and it will help them craft a better prompt, and they won’t need you.
You can’t own a style much less copyright it. And just because it uses existing pieces as building blocks, it’s mostly changed significantly. And just because AI makes it easier, it’s not something one couldn’t have done before with likes of photoshop or a glue stick and some scissors. It’s like saying recipes are unethical towards professional chefs, allowing anybody to just make the same dish at home. Why deny everybody from creating some form of a nice meal at home or a piece of artwork for that matter. Didn’t wipe out pro-chefs/cooks either. There is still the ‘artist’ vs ‘anyone’. Where the artist will imagine and create their own original that will always be more valued and desired, same as the culinary artist. If anything the originals from a specific artist will probably rise in value later on because of it being originals. And besides, I’d feel pretty proud to have people use my work/style as their inspirational foundation to finally have a means to help try and envision their imagination, that before remained lost in incapability. As for the Artist, time to level up, like when someone became a digital artist, now become a AI-artist and utilize it to all kinds of creative/production benefits, unlike everybody else just knowing some basics if at all. There will still be extreme differences in results made by an actual artist and their knowledge/creativity and that of just any random ‘promter’. See it as a new level/opportunity to proof being an artist is more than that!

First, my main point was that the author of the video was suggesting that AI would not replace artists, and then turns around and says how he’s using AI to replace artists. I think it is naïve to believe that a lot of artists won’t lose work because AI is democratizing decorative art.
Second, if you follow the court case with blurred lines, you will discover that juries apparently are starting to think that you can in fact copyright a style. I actually don’t agree with that court case, but if you watch carefully, I think you’ll find that that form of copyright is going to change.
Third, if you are an artist and you want AI to use your art and you don’t care, that’s your right. However, I’ve seen several videos that now show that AI is doing more than just “borrowing style”, artists have been demonstrating that the AI is basically taking their entire background of a work that is a Portrait, and then replacing the face with a different person. I would argue that that is more infringing than being inspired by someone style.
So I guess my point really is, if you are currently an artist to actually create new works, whether you think that you as an actual artist being inspired by Leonardo Vinci or Van Gogh, or whoever is infringing or not, the truth of the matter is that within a short amount of time, I guess five years, if you are a portrait artist, a landscape artist, someone who paints elevations for architects, I believe you will find yourself out of work. And sure, you can learn how to use these tools to do the work faster. But what you’re also fine is that your clients are going to be paying a lot less, and it’s my observation as a former full-time graphic designer that unless you got on a track with a big company, most small businesses don’t really care about the details. Good enough is good enough, and so when somebody’s cousin‘s nephew is able to throw a website together, they almost don’t care if it works or not. They just wanted to have something up. I found that I could no longer make a living building websites because I couldn’t leap up to doing server coding, and now nobody was willing to pay for good quality low end coating. And of course things like square space etc. that have pre-built templates also undermines that as a business.
Which means that if you think about it, if you were an artist, these AI art creating tools are going to put you out of business. Maybe you’ll still be able to make some money, but you’re going to actually have to get a lot more clients in order to make the same money.
Hopefully, there will be people who will value actual artists who are doing physical work in a physical medium, but I suspect that digital artists especially are going to be highly impacted by this over the next five or 10 years. The ones who survive are going to be the ones who are better at business, because the only way to make the same money is to get more clients. There will be a fraction, I’d say 10 to 20%, who may continue to do OK because they have relationships they give them ongoing work.
But the truth of the matter is, much like industrial production is going more and more towards automation, so to all the creative arts. I would guess in 100 years, not only will artists and graphic designers essentially be obsolete, but so will writers, actors, and many other types of creative people. Which I’ll end up with is the richest folks having access to the best technology and one person will in fact be able to create an entire movie, marketing campaign, or other creative works without the input of other folks.
At that point, it will be interesting to see whether or not there is a backlash from society that will look to get “authentic“ works from actual people rather than somebody putting in a prompt into an AI.
@@EliotHochberg On your first point, it’s not replacing artists - it’s simply an alternative to ‘art’ for those interested and/or at this point even remotely capable of (successfully) creating. Could in cases be an unfortunate change in preference over a (current employed) artist, sure. But that artist will still be an artist and there will still be a market for them. The value of authentic, original and human made art will stand its own, like it has for centuries. Physical art painters weren’t wiped out by digital art.
Yet people are yelling ‘the sky is falling’ like AI-art is being sold for thousands left and right….
But to be fair, although harsh, no one is obligated to hire an artist for any type of (decorative) art that’s also heavily dependent on personal taste. It’s irrelevant whether it be for one piece for a local corner cafe or the global product/marketing of an international business. Specially if done cheaper and faster.
With that said, it’s actually not only naive, but selfish and short sighted to stand in the way of a possible innovation that can globally reach countless people, occupations, businesses, fields, organizations etc which could simplify, enrich, enhance or any other beneficial aspect. Not to mention the potential to help initiate any other (unrelated) innovations and what/who that may affect.
Making (in this case) an artists potential/temporary loss of employment unfortunate, but unavoidable.
Like many innovations that we are all currently using have caused numerous loss in jobs, those losses are still a fraction of the provided betterment it gained for many, if not most.
Second, copyright law may tighten slightly, or it may in lieu be loosened slightly. Nonetheless, style is relative at best and not specific enough to pinpoint to claim ownership. It’s grouped things that are (non factually) used/made/considered to look similar and/or fit together in some way.
If it would, it would extent to and crippling many other ‘free will’ choice outlets, such as fashion, music/film etc.
Third, I agree that if it is clearly someone’s art with just some detail altered and not significantly changed beyond comparison there should be some kind of preventative measures in place to the intent of owner protection/compensation by either have name/term be removable from ‘prompt’ usage. Or have the artist be payed per ‘prompt’ use like for example musical artist with song streaming.
But beyond that, I think you’re underestimating how essential artist are, always have been and will continue to be. It’s one of the oldest form of beauty ‘occupation’ from cave drawings to priceless musea pieces to Spider-Man Movies. Innovation might come firs, but it’s the true artist that will master it and then make it their own. So many times that there was a new significant change or additional form within the art or creation space it wasn’t the new thing that allowed what it was, it was the artist that took that new tool, upgrade or tech and people wanted and specially businesses needed them to stand out and use human imagination. Small businesses care enough to go (specially nowadays) with the current times or lose out, like now, they might not be super advanced, but will pay accordingly for a professional. So it’s either they don’t care enough for this new thing and continue to pay for a current level digital artist or pay more for someone offering this new and more difficult tool. Digital times that gave tablets, procreate, photoshop, illustrator etc it never had been easier for non artist to make art and yet it remained basics for most people, but it were artist that took and ran with it beyond any expectations that no company could resist.
Last few things:
1. You underestimate the importance and never ending need for creativity, it’s what fuels evolution.
2. Speculating about what will (not) be 100 yrs over this has no point for now.
3. The most expensive pieces of art currently in world are all made many generations before any current complaining digital artist.

Few solutions here: I advice artists to add spelling errors intentionally, Use deliberately watermarked Images and develop unique codenames for their product designs every other Instance when we share our work online. let them develop their own Databases and buy images from Artists.

Who owns the final artwork that you used for your client's work? This is a question that I have found very few video posters willing to discuss. IP is going to be a treacherous road to navigate if left unknown. If you used someone's stock photography image and altered it. Is it yours? Is it public domain? Is it property of the AI engine? If it is not yours does that mean anybody can use it? Does that become a problem for the original photographer whose work you used?

Improving the productivity of employees by necessity reduces the number of available jobs. That doesn't mean the technology is the problem. But we cannot just embrace AI without recognizing the ramifications and pushing for policies that will mitigate those issues, which ABSOLUTELY includes job loss. Being among the few who survive the fallout should not Blind people to the Costs, and instead should recognize their responsibility to help work towards ensuring that the adoption of new technologies goes hand in hand with updating policies and social and economic paradigms to ensure the cost isn't a, never before seen, body count. Not a denial of the existence of potential consequences.
