    Main Death Knight for almost my entire career. If I had put as much effort into learning Piano as I did learning Unholy, I'd be selling out dome concerts. I'd love a complete rework. It's my favorite class in terms of lore in any RPG.

      Playing Unholy regarding abilities is a kin to how many keys are on a piano! lmao. I feel like 16+ buttons with an 11 button opener is harder than playing Mozart blindfolded. hahah

      @@kalejarmar3187 For me WoD was UH's best itteration. where your damage was your disease, that was stackable, and you had to push it at maximum stacks asap and maintain the duration of it with festering strikes, until you were able to refresh the disease at max stack quickly from your recovering cooldowns. You had to know the exact number of festering strikes it took to push the length of the disease long enough to min max, was so fun

    DKs also need a visuals update. Literally half or more of their effects are just weapon strikes with different hues of color and bland sounds.
    Paladins are flashy and warriors feel meaty, but DKs feel like hitting with a wet noodle.
    And don't make me get started with the cartoon femurs of blood

      100% it almost is a mystery why Blz did nothing in SL expansion. By contrast warlocks are getting a lot more updates(pet visuals, cast effect) without a single proper reason.

    as a Frost/Blood player I miss being able to Army on boss pulls. Never cared if it did amazing dmg but the visuals were memorable and gave us the player a kinda LeeRoy type feeling of LET'S GOOOOO lol

      @@marccus1989 unfortunatly is warrior number-wise worse than DK, on the other hand is the gamplay more fluid,
      cause you haven't to deal with Death&Decay as a DPS and you bring a good Raidbuff to the table. What i would miss as a Warrior is Grip and Range-Silence, something i really love playing as a Tank...so buddy, its up to you, have fun with 10.2😉

    Hear me out: make a good amount of class talents baseline and restructure it to have 3 build paths of summons. Each one matching a spec but since they’re in the class tree, they can interchange with the specs. Example, one build path is for an army of melee ghouls. One is for a group of undead mages, and one is for bloodworms that sustain you. Want to be a frost dk that can self sustain with bloodworms? Great. Want to be a blood dk that can summon a group of mages that cast frost bolts? That sounds like pure class fantasy. Blood tree focused on tanking, unholy on diseases, frost on frost, then the class tree focuses on being a commander of the scourge. It makes sense since a lot of dk utility SHOULD be baseline since they make sense for all 3 specs.

    Honestly seeing rouge get a full rework while DK has barely got changed in 10.2 is pushing me just to drop dragonflight all together. Its crazy seeing how much asymmetrie there is with how much attention blizzard will give them. Couple that with DK being weak in M+ DPS for like 6 season and i think im done. Too little to late.

      how tf is it fine that other melees have similar/better defensives, 10x more mobility, equal utility, equal or better damage..? What is the BENEFIT to DK?

    Marcellian you didn't mention that even though Death Coil is a baseline spell, that aside from Unholy in single target no spec has any reason to cast it. The class design is so bad that DKs are left sitting there with spells on their bars that they *think* they are supposed to be using, but that should be left gathering dust in their spellbooks. My suggestion was to give Death Coil some small %health healing per target hit and make it behave like Monk's Chi Burst, meaning that it cleaves all targets in a line. That would have given it some AOE and survivability utility and made it viable to press instead of Death Strike or Frost Strike.
    I was saying a lot of this stuff since Dragonflight beta, but the responses from other DKs was basically: "Shut up, we are fine and don't need changes". Even "intelligent" top tier DKs were telling me DK was perfectly fine. I was dumbfounded and it heavily contributed to me burning out. How could no other DKs see how bloated our Talent Trees were and how we would be locked into specific Talent Builds without any room to make any choices. We had a handful of godly talents surrounded by a lot of hot garbage. Soul Reaper is an atrocious capstone and I'm baffled that it STILL remains as it is.
    Not to mention that in PVP DKs are considered to be one of the SQUISHIEST Classes! Thanks to the shortsighted Death Strike healing pvp nerf earlier this year DKs have almost no tools to keep themselves alive, and in deep dampening they crumple like wet toilet paper. That is completely absurd! How could the Devs make Death Knights, a class whose name alone implies toughness & durability, into the weakest little sissy class in PVP?!
    I've often rolled my eyes when people claim that "Devs hate XXX class and love another", but at least when it comes to PVP there is nothing but evidence that at least one Dev has a vendetta against DKs; because there is simply no other logical explanation for why the Class would be treated the way it is. Just look at how the Devs worded the DK pvp nerfs, they sound like they resent DKs even existing. Personal bias apparently dictates Class balance in WoW.
    I gave up trying to main the class I love and just follow the FOTM now. Apparently Blizz plays favorites and it's play what they want you to play or suffer in inferiority.
    Some Classes/Specs I think Blizzard just doesn't know what to do with to make them effective and fun while retaining identity, like Druids and Shamans, but some Classes, at least in some forms of content, Blizzard straight up loathes their existence.

      Only use for other specs is to heal yourself, at least in pvp it heals better than the overlynerfed Death strike.

    Who the hell at blizz designed the 10.2 set bonus for frost dk around a talent that's not baseline? The frost dk dev doesn't play the class.

    I honestly would love to see a necromancer esque build for unholy. They have clawing shadows increasing scourge strikes ramge to 30ft but doesnt increase the range of any other ability. Festering Strike still is melee and is most reliable way of getting wounds on a target. The chance from DnD and ghoul are so low you could easily change it up and make a necro build without the hassle of making a new class and trying to balance it. Give me more ways to customize my ghoul, they made demo locks basically the same. Summon a bunch of minions that only last for 10secs and only have 1 permanent minion. Make it so I can have a ghoul that syphons some life back to party when it attacks, or magus variant that AOE mobs with volley of shadowbolts. Make apocalypse and army a choice talent with apocalypse maybe doing more damage initially but army lasting longer or something. Ive been playing a suboptimal unholy a bit in season 2 but when new tiers come out they are nerfing army and making apocalypse a must have meaning talents like clawing shadows arent as worth since the range doesnt matter.

    Really hoping that frost gets the ret paladin treatment. Unholy is ok to me I just wish it had less set up and did better in lower keys. Currently playing fury/arms till then.

    Your take on blood spec is just so on point, right now CDs allow you to stack runic power that you'll have to spend carefully in between your CDs, but there is no real synergy unlike other tanks, what a shame

    I think a good solution to class identity could be in Runeforging. Put utility that's not spec specific there and let players choose what they want. Gore fiend grasp could be a rune spell, for example.

    Frost dk is good imo but it feels kinda clunky. Unholy is my favorite dk spec but it also feels clunky in a way

      The Thing is. you can do nothing against affixes, No Dispel, no enrage cleaner, no Heal, nothin... You have to rely fully on your group that complete bullshit

    DK is by far the coolest class aesthetic based on arguably the coolest character in Warcraft. It sorely needs to be modernized as I suspect there are a LOT of people who WANT to play DK, but it simply won't because of how clunky it is and how incompatible many aspects of it's design is with the game's content. All the specs are just WAY out of date and Blizz needs to get ontop of this and give us a RET-level rework across all three specs.

    Damage mitigation in wow needs a rework as a whole, a way to make it feel more impactful instead of an icon showing that you have defense up

    I tested the Unholy DK on the 10.2 PTR and I noticed a big dps increase. Paired with the trinkets and helm enchant from the new raid will make them stronk

      Do you still have 16 buttons with 12 of them being on an opener rotation? Also, how's the feeling with AOE vs Single target on a single Talent Tree? I pretty much went frost for this very reason even though the dmg output was less, it was simpler and the single target had really strong AOE due to DnD cleave. I remember it was a burden on Unholy as you'd have to swap after a Boss to an AOE spec for Trash and then swapping back was held up by them not sharing the same GCDs, it was a pain.

      Sadly, it is still the same. It's just our damage hits a whole lot harder every 45 seconds. Even more so with UA. I don't know what it is or maybe it's the new helm enchant but that shit does constant AOE damage and I guess it also procs off from pets or it's probably trinkets that procs it.@@Nashness

    Dont know at what point giving back death and decay on frost was a good idea cleaving strikes is the klunckiest way to aoe since depend on pilar, runes and obliteration, it would be more simple, logic and satisfying if was tied to remorless winter ONLY like warriors that use wirlwind to cleave. But i guess im not a class desingner that last time played frost was 8 years ago.

    Personally I don't much care about the strength or numbers that abilities generate on meters. What I mainly care about is fun and how they feel in the class fantasy.
    In Legion I switched from Unholy to Frost cause Frostmourne (obviously) and have stuck with it ever since (hoping for some new interraction due to still using the visage of the Blades). But while in Legion Frost was fun, ever since that it just felt like I could do less and less as a death knight.
    I really wish they would give back the class fantasy and specs would just be something you, well, specialize in. Aka as a death knight I'd think I can always raise undead army, but only as unholy could I make them really strong, or use them to empower myself while they explode in bloody gore.
    WoD was a good xpac to me simply because of how much fun I had with Necrotic Plague and guess what? Frost could use it too, but unholy got slightly more value out of it cause of mastery which is all good in my opinion. Whether Necrotic Plague would come back as a general dk talent or unholy only does not matter that much to me, as long as we get this iconic ability/talent back.
    All in all, in the story of Retail I'm a freaking Deathlord, yet I feel weaker than I do on my dk in Wrath Classic.

    They need an execute of some sort. The other plate classes do. Maybe...have death coil switch to like chill streak for frost spec in turn making it baseline and acting the way death coil does with procs. Give the option (like for paladin) say for frost when you cast howling blast it hits 2 additional targets and casts death and decay, like consecration

      They have the 6 second cd execute, also unholy has a talent that makes most of its abilities do more damage in execute range

    Always loved Unholy fantasy and gameplay at some point, but hate to rely on external CD's to have a massive spike burst and then having the rest of the fight going down, it's just feel like you're nothing without everyone else to align with you and can't shine on your own.

    Man some of us long time players like spinning 3 plates for our rotations,
    I do believe it needs some reworks but I definitely love the complexity of unholy and it is cool how there’s two extremes between frost being easy and unholy being complex

    Even with all these old mechanics, the BDK is still the most fun and challenging tank for me.
    You just have to be careful what you do and if you do it right, you are almost immortal.
    The thing with defensive talent = less heal would be quite easy to solve. Deathstrike's healing is easy to calculate as if no DR talent were currently active. Example: You get a hit with 100k, you would reduce 30% and therefore only get 70k. Deathstrike, however, ignores the reduced damage taken and heals you for the original value.
    The only thing the BDK really needs is a bit of baseline movement speed.

    Band aid fix for Unholy would be Epidemic Talent baseline and change the visual effect for Defile, but i agree Unholy needs a revamp. keep up the good work flame !

    I'd like to see talents like death strike and the like be baseline again and bring back tank talents like toughness and presences with improved presences. Remove the talents that makes oblit do some more frost damage and put it into obliteration and passively makes oblit damage from physical to frost

    Frost feels like i am playing guitar hero on expert difficulty (Obliteration). I have few buttons i have to press in perfect sync during PoF to maximise the use of it, and throwing in a random CD or ability into that mix gets everything out of sync. If you're unlucky and Rune of Fallen Crusader refuses to proc? Tough luck, you just lost a big chunck of damage that is out of your control.
    BoS needs a simple redesign in how the ability works, if they are so keen to balance it around you having it up 100% of the time:
    Reduce the CD to 1 minute and maximise the duration to 1 minute, or even go down to 30 seconds to make it good for M+. There, solved the problem with BoS.
    Soul Reaper needs to be a execute dot, something you want to have 100% uptime when you're at execute range, not a Execute Lite version it is now.
    Unholy needs to get a build that is only focused on dots and dot uptime, with the burst being a sudden increase in pressure from all those dots.
    What if Apocalypse then made all the dots into a single one and you could reapply all of them while it was going on?
    Festering Strike increased the duration of the DoTs, while Scourge Strike reduced it for extra instant damage?

    frost is like driving a car, u have to do alot of stuff before it moves forward, and if u mess up, then your in for alot of downtime, same goes for uh it feels slow compair to a warrior, im digging blood but as u said it can be better, all specs need a better rune system more lige warrior rage maybe

    Ok so im posting after just seeing the new monk rework they did and im hoping that theirs a way blizzard could see this! Im at my wits here not only have we been the ugly duckling for way too long but also now cold shouldered. As if getting into a group was hard enough! DK’s was and is the first of the hero class and now monk is ahead with all the rest of the reworked classes getting special attention. I hope and pray they’re working on something for us and not just frost but for all 3 specs! Also I hope if they are they bring back are corpse explode spell please that was so much fun. And we also came from one of the best expansions WOTLK from back in the day so we need some special attention blizzard! And hopefully praying sooner than later!

    I am a hardcore player (PVE) using DK since Legion. I agree with some aspects you mentioned, but being a main Blood DK I can tell you that it is the most stable specialization of the class. The only thing it needs is more physical damage mitigation (because at high keys, it's very easy to get a oneshot) and a better single target.
    Respect for Frost and Unholy, I agree that they are left behind in time, that gameplay is no longer popular and although Unholy is "good" in raid, it is not a class that you are going to prioritize in your roaster.
    I think the best solution would be to eliminate the Frost and Unholy specializations and create a new, completely different one, this would help the DPS to have more current mechanics and be more useful in both Raids and M+

    The class needs the fundamentals of pandaria (the 3 presences, viability with 2h and DW frost, good sustained damage outside burst and for god sake, a little bit of utility) combined with other adjustements.
    BoS should not be holded for 2 min long, it would be funnier to have it like 20-30 sec max (capped) but deal good damage.
    -The class should not have a lot of mobility, but tools to reach its target (good slow, some CC and the grip). The DK is a juggernaut, it should be tanky, destructive but slow.
    - Bring back necrotic strike baseline for all specs, so it can do something in PvP. Also grips should be adjusted in pvp so other classes are not pulled 374837489397 times in the arena.
    -And finally, and this is a personal opinion. If you have a spell called "obliterate", it should hit hard not only during 12 sec of burst. Balance its damage, I would prefer seeing always 80k crits outside CD and 120k with CD, than 10k outside CD and 240k on CD.

    Just leveled up a DK from 1-70 a week ago, Frost seems fun for me and the theme is cool but the AoE situation on it especially with obliteration cleave is so annoying, by time you finally finish your whole setup the trash pack is already close to dead because every other melee class has instant burst 3 button rotations

    For blood things like Mark of blood, consumption and bonestorm are actively avoided at all cost and I really dont think we like the use of tombstone right now either. I love blood, been playing it since 2008 or so but just some stuff makes no sense. I really would like something to offer the group like heals, mitigation or some type of ultity to affected them directly.
    Frost, big fan of obliterate build I just don't understand how lack luster it is in single target even though it pumps pretty hard in aoe. Ive always hated breath, especially with all the rights with dodging crap on the floor in keys and running to drop some kind of puddle in raid that makes breath a pain in the ass to use. I wish breath just radiated from around the target instead. Frost needs a faster CD on death and decay because its our main way to do aoe dmg since it supplements Obliterate.
    Don't play unholy because im damn near 50 years old and thats just too many damn buttons on pull lol and then you sit there with nothing for nearly the rest of the fight.

    Get rid of festering wounds and give unholy 2-3 more diseases that can be put up via different methods like pets, DnD, chains. The fact that aff lock has 2x the number of dots as unholy is terrible

    They need to just let so many skills base line and talents should be so much more, all classes should have baselines skills.

    Unholy needs a to long set up till the dmg comes, most enemies are dead before you start 😅 and at frost sorry but with tier sets lock you into talents is bad. The bonus is nice but then make chill streak baseline

    Imagine a real rework. No more wounds, instead plaguestrike comes back. Real disease gameplay, scourge strike hitting harder depending on the amount of diseases ect. Or even having real necromancer like playstyle instead of its watered down version now. Imagine frost with more than just 3 buttons. Imagine blood that feels engaging to play instead of how it is now... Imagine no more reliability on death and decay. What could be...
    Imagine a real raid buff that isn't just death grip (Which is strong when needed, but when it isn't... we have jack shit.)

    Death Knight needs to be a bit oversimplified because blizzard wants as many people with tank alts as possible. If it were too deep, or too complicated, then that might scare people away from playing a tank class.

    I was pretty disappointed to not see BDK changes with 10.2s announcement. I’d equate Bone shield charges to festering wounds. It’s just another resource on top of runes and RP. Bone shield does turn into a meaningful source of damage with shattering bone and tombstone, but those 2 talents just push you further into being limited to wherever DnD is.
    The spec is just clunky and unforgiving for people trying to learn it. In M+ you want to run into a pack, DND, abom limb, DRW, blood boil and tombstone, (maybe not in this exact order) but inside those 5 globals you haven’t generated any RP, until tombstone, and you’re likely dead or close to dead because you haven’t used death strike at all. But if you use death strike then you aren’t building AoE threat.
    Maybe the other tank specs I’ve played, prot warrior, Paladin, and guardian, are just brain dead easy or maybe i’m just way more comfortable on these classes. I have no problem running into packs on those classes, building aoe threat while also generating the resource used to fuel the class’s active mitigation.

      Been playing a Blood dk tank for a while I have no problem most of the time with defense & mitigation can out last most things i come across. But the price is every big fight becomes a war of attrition. Where in 9 out of 10 cases if i die it's out of sheer border of the fight taking so long. I end up zoning out & screwing up my damage mitigation .

    imaging giving grasp to frost but instead of you pulling the target, you pull yourself to the target if its a boss, sort of like nautillus q in league. P.S. love the idea to have the option to play unholy with no pets

    Rework Death&Decay in all specs, the setup for cleave dmg is annoying, Frost make frostscythe work again and give him solid Single Target dmg, and do not force us to choose between BoS or Obliterate, bring back Party Buff like Horn of Winter - Abomination's Might - Improved Icy Talons to benefit the party.

    Before watching video, it is time, blood is amazing in terms of theme, but it's just so boring to play compared to prot warrior or pretty mutch any other tank, Frost has so many cool abilities like chillstreak, Remo winter etc but idk, there is just something missing, it feels old, I want to feel unstoppable on my frost and not 1 disarm and gg, unholy actually is really well done, would love some kind different playstyle than wounds tho

    I quit playing unholy when they butchered the spec after MoP. They killed dot snapshotting and it obliterated mastery stacking unholy, pigeon holing it back into haste stacking, which was boring imo. I don’t want to pop pimples, I want to be a walking plague. The only way I’d play DK again is in classic cata. Homogenization of the rune system was also a fatal mistake. Juggling runes was an integral part of the class that made it unique.

    2 reasons why I don't want to play Unholy. Pets and the amount of buttons are in the rotation. I agree these changes would help a lot. I hope blizzard have the same thoughts.

    Had to walk away from DK.
    Blood, too spikey and like you said, CDs interfering with DS absorbs.
    Unholy, I don't want kids and I certainly don't want to do jack all damage without CDs.
    Frost, maintaining BoS has never been fun imo.
    Switching to BrM/WW. Always loved the monks, and BrM and WW are 2 specs I massively enjoy.
    For DKs? I only like blood so building an OS Unholy/Frost build/gear is not an option :( I'd like it to be, they just aren't as fun as other dps...

    I only do low level alt stuff on a unholy dk so my opinion shouldn't matter BUT there are to many buttons and i hate how death and decay is used. A lot of burst but when everything is on cd it doesn't feel great to play.

    Frost Death Knight is a car on square wheels. You come to the service center, but instead of changing your square wheels, they put a spoiler on you, cover the steering wheel with leather, install new headlights, etc. - come on, be healthy. And you are still leaving the Blizzard service on the same square wheels. You ask the blizzard for a rake, but they give us an improved shovel.
    Playing as frost dk, you spread the porridge on the plate.. You can spread it faster, slower, but still nothing changes. It's very hard to force yourself to play this game called frost dk. I even stopped playing PVE. Sindragosa in Shadowlands was 200 times better than now when playing with a stick in obliterate

    Frost dk needs the most re work out of all the dk specs and the first thing blizzard can do is remove breath of sindragosa a dps class shouldnt rely on a channel to melee dps.
    let frost dk dps like the rest of the dps classes.

    I liked some of this but I have to hard disagree with the points you made on Blood.
    Yes its true they soak damage with there HP pool and shielding , but they have the biggest HP pool and various ways to avoid being one shot to make that work. don't try tell blizzard to make them more like other tanks please, blood's fundamental design is PERFECT for what they are. You didn't mention that blood DK has access to massive damage mitigation at 35% hp (talent) , auto heal when hitting 35% (rune AND talent! so 2!) and a cheat death (talent0
    If I was to ask for anything to change on blood it would be - make Death and Decay off the GCD, as small as it sounds this change would really make movement in fights more forgiving as you don't always have time to waste 1.5 seconds over and over because the fight has lots of forced movement. alternatively give blood a talent makes it an aura for situations when standing in one area for long is unrealistic
    overall I'd like to see frost and unholy get some attention , I think blood at most needs quality of life and some damage tuning , the spec is in my honest opinion the THICCEST tank we have right now in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing and the hardest tank to actually kill. The only ting going against Blood DK there damage is slower than other tanks and it shows in higher keys (im still trusting him to not die as easily though)

    Is it time...? It's well past time, however, with their adjustment in unholy and frost little by little. I don't see them doing a whole rework like they did with ret or currently rogue. Seems like they are trying to ease a adjustment rather than a rework. Disappointing honestly.

    It’s in dire need of a rework. Frost is extremely weak outside of KM obliterates, 2 rune obliterate is like 20k damage without and 180k with. Why the disparity? It just feels like playing the spec is pointless unless you see obliterate button glowing.
    Unholy, you pretty much nailed it. Massively bloated but with high value cooldowns makes the spec really complex and unforgiving. It seems outside these cds there’s nothing of worth happening, you are there to buff the ghoul and that’s it. Scourge strike/wounds relationship just feels bad, I think it’s just a bad concept entirely and needs scrapped.
    They could make obliterate/scourge strike/heart strike the relationship base between the different specs. Like these spells all fundamentally are 2 rune big damage swings with additional power based on spec. For ex, obliterate keeps the KM proc buffs. Scourge increases disease damage for x and has a chance to cause your next apoc to summon a mage instead of ghoul.

      Because Obliterate is the core of the Obliteration build and its entire damage profile while at the same time being the generic builder for BoS builds, which means it can't do much damage on its own and needs all of its damage put behind procs and cds. This is one of the core problems of the entire spec.

    I both agree and disagree, they basicly got what he had, becayse they are not DK's, it's a miracle they even made the 100% frost damage converstion on oblit kiling machine procs considering DK design is something they dont want to do, the WoTLK devs are gone, the originators, that made it to begin with. all other clases get sometimes more than one rework through an expansion, see shadow priests, blizzard are crooks that absolutely plays favorites, and no good design can come until a dev is added that likes the Dk concept.Regardless of what the forums or any discords say.
    we have to raise hell to even be heard to get scraps to shut us up, it's been this way ever since MoP
    I also didnt know that rogues GOT ANOTHER FUCKING REWORK, they have had like.. 6 now since legion? i hate bliuzzdevs so much

    im gonna be honest, you say alot about "old class design" when literally everyone and their mother wishes MOP playstyle would come back.. because it was simply the best. Legion is new class design and the state of the game has been in legion style design longer now than it has been with any other iteration of gameplay design. Even WoD was decent they just pruned a bit too much from mop.. Legion re invented the wheel and for some classes now for the worse... dk and warlock suffering the most IMO...
    WOTLK was and still is my favorite iteration of DK and it existed for 2 years and never looked at again... unholy remained generally unchanged until MOP and it was plenty fun with festerblight playstyle.. Frost has been pruned and pruned and pruned and pruned to be 1 button spam with a predictable proc. Breath has been through so many changes since WOD and doesnt work because when they make it easy to keep up frost dk is too OP (t17frost dk was broken). Unholy relies (like demonology warlock) far too much on pets that with PI Aug evoker and some fast kill times... they are disgustingly boring... build wounds, pop 10 globals, watch gary crank, mash clawing shadows because so many wounds are on the target, your runic power caps faster than you can spend it..... like its been like this since legion... (i know they are fixing some of it).... but legion class design is honestly the biggest factor i havent played retail for more than 2 weeks in the last 5 years.... its just the same thing, and ANTI-fun... idk... wish wotlk dk would make a come back for a new take...

    i'm sure dk's could benefit from some changes but i think hunters are in a dire need of an overhaul, at least for their class tree (and survival as well, blizz can't seem to get the melee hunter formula right no matter how much they try)

      It needs a complete overhaul. BM probably just needs tree work, but MM and survival need complete overhauls. Survival continues to be the failed experiment no one in the hunter community asked for, and MM gameplay loop if just off. I thought they needed a rework more then any spec
