My company brought on a new CEO a few months back. One of the first things he did was try to replace the term "associates" with a more "fun" "family" kind of term. They put out a poll with a few options, and by an OVERWHELMING MAJORITY, we voted to remain associates. I don't need a company to try to replace my family. I need a company that will pay me enough to be able to support and spend time with MY family.

This is so tempting to send to everyone I used to work with at a big wholesale warehouse with membership *cough, cough*. It's all just nice words and handshakes, then u find urself working alone for 5 hours in a fridge that gets destroyed every day. (There used to be 5 people doing it). Then it's ur fault when u work to hard to get it done and hurt urself. Gotta love the "family culture"
I’m happy that I finally landed a non-temp or intern role related to my college education last June, 2021 with a company that I could potentially have a career with. Used to be a local company when about a decade ago it was acquired by a larger competitor which is in turn owned by a foreign hedge fund company. No “we’re a family BS” but seems to have a good culture, strongly values safety. I’m treated better than when I worked for their direct competition, in a public sector position, or for small businesses. I’ve worked for family and that’s the main reason I don’t want to run my own business; owners and family need to work harder than employees.
I was a freelance writer and thus a independent contractor all my life so I look at corporate life and working for businesses as an outsider. From what I see , employee / employer dealings are always based on uneven power differentials and manipulation. Its elementary psychology at work. The pragmatic employee simply views a job as a paycheck and yearly income. Any employee in any company is nothing more than a chess piece. The question is are you going to wind up a pawn sacrifice?
I wanted to find purpose for my job, but learned how to let that go the hard way. Now, I just clock. Do what I’m assigned to do. Help others when I feel like it. Clock out and call it a day. Best eye opening experience ever. It’s not for everyone as the same as freelancing isn’t for everyone either. Do what makes the best version of yourself.
Perhaps it's because I live in Europe but I find the idea of multiple income streams so depressing... Having to monetise hobbies, working nights and weekends, just for an ounce of security.
"We're a family" Interesting how whenever there is a murder, the family is ALWAYS questioned first because statistically, the murder is more likely committed by a family member.
What really disgusts me is that his children are presented as financial experts. Loved this video. Are used to be a handyman working for a bunch of property owners and one of them asked me if I wanted to be a millionaire like them. I said yes. Then I found myself over the next few years compromising my integrity on a regular basis trying to fit into their club. I eventually turned my position into a fully licensed general contractor and had my own business with employees. I thoroughly disliked being that person having to meet the needs of the owners who wanted to spend minimum wage for skilled labor and finding good skilled labor and wanting to pay them what I knew they were worth. It was all so horrible. After years of working for one of the owners and even considering him a friend, I bought a house from him on contract. He overcharged me on the house, gave me a super high interest rate, and then put a 15% pre-payment penalty on the purchase so that I could never refinance or sell the house without losing money. Monsters are out there.
Um what: 15% pre-payment penalty on the purchase so that I could never refinance or sell the house without losing money, thats just dumb on your part, you should have found another home to buy..
@@markcab2055 Maybe, but you're missing the point. It isn't that he got a raw deal. It's that his "friend" is the one who offered him that deal after years of loyal service.

That was a large error on your part, don't care if I get hounded for this I would never take advantage of someone but I am also not so stupid as to sign a 15% pre-payment penalty contract, you signed that and it is your responsibility that you made a poor investment.
We must be on the same wave length today. I just did a video this morning on Dave Ramsey claiming he’s not a bad christian for raising rents and displacing families because the market forced him to raise rates. Meanwhile he under pays all his employees at market rate.
If he owns those properties on fixed rate mortgages, there's literally no reason to ever raise the tenants rents other than maybe small 1-2% annual raises to keep up with property taxes and/or increased maintenance costs as the property ages. Plenty of successful landlords rarely raise rents if they have a great tenant that treats the property like their own. A good tenant is more valuable that getting 10% more rent from someone new who you aren't certain will treat the property as well...

@Vercusgames Yes I am doing great. Thank you! At the time I was devastated to be released from the hospital and see that I was fired by email (told not to come back on Monday) but it worked out. I've been at a really good employer the past three years and they're not perfect but they have taken pretty good care of me when I needed time off. Never made a federal case out of it. Being dismissed from Zander was a blessing in disguise. That company is a mess hiding behind Dave Ramsey's endorsement. They literally tell you nothing matters except retaining that endorsement.
In my opinion, Dave Ramsey teaches basic common sense to people who for some reason need to hear the obvious over and over and over. I watched two or three of his video shows and I had essentially seen them all. The amusing part is that he often seems to have some sidekick who's primary job is to fill what otherwise would be awkward silence with UmHmmm...UhHuh...UmHmmm...
The show is entertaining just hearing about the ridiculous messes people get themselves into. He helps people get themselves under control which is a good thing. How he runs his business does seem a little culty.
Before COVID he did the show alone most of the time. It was better back then actually. Highly entertaining to hear people with more money than brains cry to him like toddlers.
I was first introduced to Dave Ramsey my sophomore year in high school. Our forced to us basically listen to him by making notes worth lots of points. Best thing that happened to me as a teenager and shaped my perspective on debt and money into adulthood
Dave Ramsay's advice is ok if you want to learn how to budget or manage your money. The only issue I have with him is that a majority of his callers make six figures. When the meduim household income in the United States is 67k. Thats two incomes. The 9 to 5 job system is designed for you to earn 2.5 to 3k a month. Unless you have a very specialized skill e.g. software engineer, doctor. You stuck on this wage for life. Hope this helps.
You should see how many people have no money skills. Making a lot of money says absolutely nothing about one's money management skills. Dave's teachings and approach to life certainly can be cult like. I went through his financial freedom course and was dogmatic in staying debt free and trying to get through college without any loans but I kept postponing jumping into being full time in school all because I had this idealism that I'm a bad person or it's an evil to take on student loans. After many years of being miserable I had to reexamine my beliefs and changed my mindset to view financing my education as an investment in myself and that investing in myself is the best investment I can make. I just had to make sure I'm going into a career where it makes sense to borrow the amount of money I will need. Once i figured it out I jumped right in and the water is fine!

Carrying a firearm isn't a sign of being fearful. The need for a firearm does occur. Not frequently, and not to everybody, but it does occur. Carrying a spare tire doesn't mean you are 'afraid' of getting a flat, it means you are prepared if you do get a flat. The truly fearful person is the one who sees a law-abiding citizen carrying a firearm and assumes the worst-case scenario is bound to happen any second, resulting in them calling the police.
This is the problem with having people so focused on entrepreneurship is that it is far too easy to disguise the buzzwords as a value proposition and feed it to the staff as they are "part owners" of the company. People new to the work world see the buzzwords and agree, hooking them in. What they don't see is the high turnover and the lack of values the place is hiding. I lean more to when you see these crop up more in a company statement, the more turnover there usually is and they need it as the bait to get a new worker hooked.
@@benfelps Perhaps, but when you are turning over more people, the individuals who stay also know the stakes. They know you were brought in on a lie, you were sold a bill of goods and often, they don't even bother to know your name since you will be gone soon. Here’s one that my boss used to say and still says: “I don’t give you a raise, you give yourself a raise”, implying that the only reason you don’t get a raise is because you’re not working hard enough. Or another good one, “ I don’t fire you, you fire yourself”. This from the guy who exploited the fuck out of his truck driver and made him do a lot of work that was way outside of his driving duties, while treating him like crap and ordering him around as if that’s warranted simply because he pays the guy (way under market value for a CLD driver). Eventually his driver left because he was getting paid a garbage salary with ZERO benefits and was being worked like a dog. Now this is a multi million dollar company mind you, at least $5-6 million a year in revenue. When his driver has had enough and was leaving all of a sudden this guy was ready to increase his salary by $400 a week to $1,500/week in total. Most of his employees left his company, and he acts as if all those people are the problem and became greedy. When the pandemic started in March of 2020 this guy let me go saying that we have no work. I had to go on unemployment for a little bit until finding seasonal tax work, and I was making slightly more in unemployment than I was working for this asshole. Later I heard that he apparently said I was greedy for going on unemployment when enhanced unemployment benefits were being given, despite him laying me off himself. He still believes that I left on my own just to collect unemployment. This guy is so manipulative and constantly talks about how because he gives a few holidays off we should be ready to dedicate our time to his company whenever it’s needed. He brags about not bothering us on the weekends, as if he deserves praise for that. It’s just important to be able to recognize manipulative language that scumbag bosses try to use on you in order to make you believe that you’re very lucky to have a job, and that you’re being paid way above your worth. I was blind to this before, but slowly I’m starting to open my eyes to this disgusting treatment of workers in America. As soon as I find another job I’m out of here, because this guy will never change and will continue on believing that he’s a really good employer and that everyone else is the problem.

I read Dave Ramsey‘s book “Total Money Makeover” (my mom gave it to me) and his advice was literally to pay off all your credit cars debt AND close all the accounts so that you don’t buy anything on credit and go into debt. He said your credit score isn’t important because “it’s a measure of your debt.” I cannot make this stuff up he is advising people to tank their own credit score. I guess he meant people should learn to live on their own means or even below. For someone who plans to never borrow money, credit score is not an issue.

Who else's fault is it that YOU hurt YOURSELF? Pushing yourself is fine, but know yourself and work safe.

If he was an actual good Christian he would give away all that he has and then some to follow the Lord

Carrying a firearm isn't a sign of being fearful. The need for a firearm does occur. Not frequently, and not to everybody, but it does occur. Carrying a spare tire doesn't mean you are 'afraid' of getting a flat, it means you are prepared if you do get a flat. Manipulation *is* done covertly. That is the crucial part of manipulation.
I lean more to when you see these crop up more in a company statement, the more turnover there usually is and they need it as the bait to get a new worker hooked.
turnover is better than constructive dismissal

It's a dry wasteland for financial advice. If you think Dave is bad, head over to tiktok. Dave's advice is boring but at least it's mostly decent.
I am so thankful I found Suzy Orman first. I watched some of his stuff at the same time as Suzy's and he immediately put me off. Like i liked some of his advise around debt but he doesn't have much else to say so it's very repetitive. But his tone and words towards the people that call into his show is wild. Like he is very clearly megalomaniac and makes no effort to try and hide it. Probably because he knows no one is going to call him out on it. I really hope that in this country we can make financial education in schools the norm so that we can cut the future Dave Ramsey's out of our lives.
I've always loved her especially because she addressed specific issues with women and money that the average Financial advisor personality wouldn't really understand because most of them are men.
Wasn't there an expose on old Suzy that basically said she scammed her way to the top? I am woman, watch me scam.
a marine from war in IRAQ called, and dave said you need "babysteps"....the marine said. " im not a baby"
A cool video would be for you to make your own company core value list. Like a dream list that all companies should use
"dream team" you work harder than anyone else, heres the pizza party you wanted rather than the pay equal to the work load and income you produce.
we like our Dream teams, to remain brainwashed , so we get the maximum income from you and give nothing to you (well aside from the £100 in 50% of dominos pizza) (this sentence is told in a sarcastic way btw)
from personal experience this happened to me and I would say to many people nowdays.
Your channel is changing my life.
The POWER has arrived in a DREAM TEAM! 🐊

During a job interview for a job- I was asked where I want to be in 5 years. I said about paying debt - getting teeth fixed - and some other personal goal. Then I realized they mean career goals. hmm.
Funny when employers tell you to work like you're self-employed or like an entrepreneur.
How do you do that when you can't say "No" to anything.
You have to learn how to say "NO" politely/with diplomacy based on what your job description is on the contract... otherwise they'll start asking you to do stuff that aren't even remotely close to your position (a.k.a. doing other people's job which nowadays is called "delegating" lol )
@@klauseba It depends on the culture and management style. Sometimes it's not out of scope work, but it's 4 hours of meetings you have to sit through because you're somewhat involved.
Something successful people like to say who start on top like to say we all have 24 hrs a day. But we really don't. Not when you can't control your time.
Entrepreneurs/self-employed/owners can control their time. They can say "No" to a meeting. You/I/We can't.
Be your own boss and stay home most of the week, problem solved.

Lol. I had a boomer manager that asked me "don't you want to do a good job?" in regard to a project that had very poorly defined goals and was scope creeping beyond believability. I told him no and he was incredulous. I just wanted it done!
Josh you are such a savage when it comes to this! I love your videos and really appreciate what you do! Ive realized all of this within the last 5 years. I’m 30 now and wish I knew these things younger. You are the friend that keeps it real af because you actually care. And I appreciate it! I always watch your videos because there is still always something new that pops out as a tactic I haven’t noticed before. It’s great to be able to articulate the foul play in depth and you help me not feel crazy for seeing the truth of the matter with these companies!! Thank you!
Sounds very cult-like- he wants people dependent on him.
I guess he meant people should learn to live on their own means or even below. For someone who plans to never borrow money, credit score is not an issue.
He thinks you can’t use a credit card strategically . He thinks everyone is bad with money. But then again didn’t he go broke and then get famous?
I mean clearly the credit card companies bought all their nice fancy buildings, furniture, and pay all those high dollar salaries by being charitable. Not spending hundreds of millions of dollars studying human spending habits and trends to push a financial product.
Dave is targeting a specific group of people: those who have no self control and max out their credit cards. For them his advice is valid, because these guys cannot be trusted with credit. If you don’t have credit problems, you don’t seek out Dave’s advice.
@@SteelHex Here's the problem with that... His advice doesn't just get absorbed by those seeking it. There are middle and high schools teaching Dave's money philosophies. I've actually had to reverse educate my own child on what credit is and how it works, because his middle school uses Dave's materials to teach kids about money management.
This channel is awesome! And really exposes crazy businesses
"work like you own the place" so.. Go at my own pace and ioend procedure to work the way I want it to rather than the way you tell me? You got it!
Treat those around me with respect and let them share in company profits according to their contributions? coming right up!
There is such a thing as being proud of the quality of your work. That has always been the case forever and ever. That's basic human psychology.
A late stage boomer who rode the real estate wave on other peoples money found something even less ethical than property speculation - monetizing someone's imagined relationship with deity!
You have it figured out, now go and make a few million, Allan
Finally SOMEONE takes a jab at this "self made" fraud. Thanks josh.
@Jalen the problem with your statement is, Dave employs what is know as "best practices" when it comes to debt and investing. Need to get your head out of the fake YT guru's for a minute and learn real world financial advice. Do you really think a man with millions in investment does not have the best advisors money can buy? You sir are delusional.
I enjoyed managing people and getting them to work as a team, I also advocated for their wants and needs.
Thanks for creating this content you are helping people take the red pill.
I used to like dave Ramsey just because i thought it was interesting hearing the debt stories until i heard a guy asking him if he should purchase a house as an investment property and spoke on how he has construction experience and could keep cost low and could get a good loan with low rates which really sounded like a pretty good investment and he tried to talk him out of it because he would be getting a loan to get started. Like bro people don't just have hundreds of thousands of dollars just laying around 😂. I don't hate him I just realized he gives basic advice of all debt is bad, live on beans and rice and deliver pizzas on top of your 40 hours of work a week to get ahead. I'd like that advice a little more if he could just help tailor it to a specific person or gave the more general rules that can apply to everyone like you want your housing to be 35% or less of your income
He can't because his demographic would hear that and misinterpret.
Debt is bad Jaycee. 99% of foreclosed homes all have 1 thing in common, debt. that could not be serviced in a timely manner. Never heard of anyone filing bankruptcy using Dave"s advice
@@alinatamashevich3354 listening Dave's advice does work to an extent but i mean life happens and from what i remember the number 1 reason or 2 for bankruptcy was medical expenses. So that's just life hitting you. But no his advice works well for people who over spend and it's very good way of avoiding unnecessary risks, but if you lived by Dave's rules to a T you would miss out on opportunities to better yourself like buying a triplex home and renting out 2 units and having that pay for your mortgage and properties taxes while you live free of charge and work on something else while gaining equity and raising your net worth.
@@jayceewilliams5250 Dave has never said not to buy real estate, in fact he promotes using real estate to gain wealth. What does one do when these awesome renters quit paying rent cause the government tells them they can. Who pays the bills then?
just gonna make a small backup of this video, before any parts get taken down xD
I watch Dave’s content as comedy honestly. Some of what he says is common sense while other things are completely unhinged. I’d never take advice from someone like him. His “baby steps” are so antiquated.
Dave’s advice isn’t bad. Here’s the thing. In a literal sense he is telling you to avoid “wanting things”. Particularly big expenses. New cars and what not.
You can use a credit card for things you need and pay those off like food, utilities.
But for some reason he focuses on hating credit cards and not hating consumerism and all the bigger plagues designed to drain us financially and otherwise.
@@NotShowingOff like I said, he says some things that are common sense. Anyone with any financial literacy knows and does the things you listed.
@@pri.sci.lla. it’s not common sense to everyone. There are millions of people in serious debt and no retirement savings. If it was common sense there wouldn’t be so many poor people. That’s why he has the baby steps. It’s about creating and establishing good habits and getting you eased into and motivated to start saving money, paying off debt and stashing away for retirement. I don’t agree with everything he says but he has helped out a lot of people get their act together.
@@pri.sci.lla. arrogance, exactly what he says
@@pri.sci.lla. yea, it ain’t common sense. It’s like this. How long do you think your lifespan is?
Some ppl think they can die tomorrow, and therefore are more wreckless.
If you think you will live past 80, then you will always need the money for tomorrow.
Some ppl look at credit as cheat code.
They think as long as you are living you will never stop owing money and so who cares about debt.
It’s when 5, 10 years pass and suddenly you are in very high debt, and creditors are making life much worse than before.
At the end of the day, Dave makes money and then expect his employees to work hard for far less.
One great example of how being selfish makes you more valuable is making sure you are the ONLY one trained to do a specific task. The company might push you to train others to do a job however that only makes you replaceable. I know a guy that didn't train a single person to do his job and guess what when it came time to layoffs they had to keep him. A true team player would have bent over backwards to train others.

I work as a nurse in a 350 bed hospital. One thing that really pissess me off. Is the hospital essentially forcing staff to do

If you work in healthcare. And in a non union hospital. This is the standard practice. Due to family am kind of stuck to this area.

What Dave Ramsey really means by "We impose our will on the marketplace". is OUR POWER OF PERSUASION AND SALESMANSHIP ARE TOP NOTCH. Our sales pitch is so persuasive that you are compelled to say yes. YES I WILL BUY YOUR PRODUCT BECAUSE YOUR SALES PITCH IS SO PERSUASIVE.
We will impose our will on the marketplace is just a BOLD statement of the power of persuasive salesmanship.
"The marketplace" is not a machine or an amorphous blob. It is a collection of human minds. Humans can be persuaded one at a time or in groups by sales tactics.

Excellent analysis about teams, family, altruism, and legacy!
I retired as a civil servant, so not from a private enterprise, but the same principle applies: we're a TEAM or a FAMILY but when it comes time for raises, administration always got huge raises, no layoffs when there were budget cuts, and a better pension, etc. And a lot of my colleagues BELIEVED the 'we're family' or 'we're all in this together' crap. Management/employers got where they are and stay where they are--in charge--by looking out for #1.
I was working for two facilities under the same operation doing double the work. Asked for money they reply was crickets. I stop doing double the work. I don’t care what facility is short staff at this point. Not my problem it’s a government agency they better call a temp service. The supervisor of facility called me today all she said I ain’t got no help. Not my problem. We can be friends but I will not do double the work with no pay.
He's a narcissist.
People really need to learn about Cluster B personality disorders. It only takes a week or two to learn them and their behavioral patterns. Its classic 80/20 principle. Almost every difficult person in your life is a Cluster B. Learning how to rapidly identify, neutralize, and eliminate them, will eliminate most of your interpersonal problems
I'll get to learn about that then.

Are there companies that take advantage of their employees? Yes of course!
