- I'm Pierre from Spyder TV, this is a special edition for a personal project i did this weekend, having a go at waxing my old black 2006 BMW. Using the Jet Black Turtle Wax Black Box Finish Kit to help give a new life to my car.

Tried this on my 2013 Jet Black Z4. I was curious because I have only used carnauba wax paste only on my finish. Usually one coating of carnauba wax paste lasts 4-6 weeks. If I apply 2 coats it lasts 2 months or so. If I polish or seal and the carnauba, 3 months. My paint job was almost flawless with some chips that were fixed and some that had not yet been touched up. If your paint has been neglected I recommend. If you have a nice paint job, I do not and her's why:
It took 5 hours by hand to apply. Great Shine but I could have got the same with a carnauba wax. Wax takes me about and hour by hand for each coat. Pre-wax cleaner does a good job but also erased the chip touch up jobs I did previously. It did help hide the chips and minor scratches I had not repaired. Therefore it caused me more work beyond the 5 hours. Plus this was very messy and I went through a dozen 12"by 16" microfiber towels that were so stained I didn't bother washing them. Although it was fun not having a waxy yellow powder to clean up on my trim after buffing.
Ok my ultimate test....When I complete a wax job I take a clean plain t-shirt and toss it on the hood. If it slides right off, the wax job is awesome. After all that work done following the directions to letter, I was disappointed. The t-shirt slowed down and almost didn't make it off the hood. The Turtle Wax Black Box only lasted approximately 3 weeks on my finish. The 3 weeks included 2 washes and VERY LITTLE RAIN. I keep my car in a garage.
+Robert Grady "If I polish or seal and the carnauba..." you kidding me? of course it won't last because you have polish it away! polish and seal are two different things, or what did you actually do?
I have polished and carnauba in the past and it lasts 3 months. After 5 hours the JetBlack only lasted 3 weeks. A lot of time and effort plus ruined 12 microfiber cloths...JetBlack not worth the effort. Before I applied the JetBlack cleaner and paste I clayed my car.
Agreed. It's even advertised on the box that its meant to "Bring back that deep black shine" so it's more of a do it once every 3-4 months type wax.
i love the way you say carnuba my friend
I just waxed my car with an old school type hard wax and was really impressed by how it hides imperfections in the clearcoat. When I pull away after a rainstorm there is a huge waterfall on to the rear screen leaving the roof completely dry :)
Thx for the video, next time I suggest after you wash to use a claybar to decontaminate your car, which you should do at least twice a year) and that will help give car a deep clean and smooth to the finish, and waxes will bond better to paint
Absolutely. Can you tell me what you think is the best car-shampoo that cleans deep, including removing all the previous wax-layers and/or sealants? My experience with dish-soap is really bad.....:s
@@rjwassenaar7511 well many out there ,you would want a high PH soap with no gloss enhancers or wax in them,
Purple Power heavy duty car and boat soap is a good one at Walmart 8 bucks a gallon, Chemical Guys Clean Slate, Griots also has one , to name a few. And if I may add a chemical decontamination aka iron remover prior to claying, most car care manufacturers have them Carpro iron x, Gyeon, ethos,, Meguirars, Griots, Xtreme solutions, and many others
@@abelcelestinjr8810 Thanks very much for the information.
Thank you for the review. I definitely got my box today
I just buy that kit last week. Gonna try today and see how it goes.
Groupon had these a few months back for $15 a kit.... Grabbed a few at that price.
super merci pierre, jai le kit mais cetait pas clair comment sen servir, meme avec les instructions.
Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the video. Was pretty entertaining!
For those saying that the black on hsi car doesn't look so shinny, that is because his car is not glossy black, is that semi flat black. So you can try to shine it as best you can't but won't get to super shine unless his paint was glossy black
Très bon video. Merci du conseil
Thank you for the video.
I just picked up this product and I am dreading the work, but looking forward to the end result.
(waxing is not my ting.)
+Julio Rios Did you used it mate?
+Dogtag
Yes, I did use it and it is a great product.
Julio Rios Right now, i am using autoglym ultra deep shine (for dark paint) , but im thinking on applying this product next time .. Did you took the wax off with polisher or by hand?
+Dogtag How is the autoglym ultra deep shine? is it any good?
solidfuel86 It's good and does a really good job, but in my opinion, it doesnt last long.
It can be combined with autoglym quick wax. You cant use it with autoglym HD though.
Autoglym UK told me to buy Autoglym's Resin Polish and then apply autoglym HD wax for more duration (even though i own a black car :/ )
I think if you'd have used a little rubbing compound or clay barred the scratched areas first I bet those final scratches you were speaking of would have come out better. At any rate I think I going to switch from Mcguire's to this black kit cause I have a 16 MAzda 3 I am trying to keep from getting webbed and swirled, chipped etc. Thanks for the vid and after a couple months how did you feel about the carnauba finish...meaning after a few rains and all...has if held it's shine for at least 2/3 rds of the year? Thanks for vid brother.
A car with a paint like that has to be washed neatly then Clayed first! to remove all the thick contaminants, then compound to remove the thiny contaminants and to restore the paint, then a swirl and scratch remover and theeeen a good brand Carnuba Wax .. But, the first three with a lot more entusiasm rubbing the clay, compound and swirl remover in fast and even circular motion, one way one direction another way the other. then remove all the polish creams neatly with clean towels and then aply the wax in an even back and forth motion with a soft cloth and with medium pressure, wait half an hr then remove the excess wax with clean soft clothes and take a good rest and enjoy your results and your car
I bought this by accident thinking it was the Turtle Wax Jet Black Endura-shine Tire Coat which apparently has been discontinued with no replacement that I'm aware of. I don't own a black car. So, I'm stuck with this non-refundable never-used product I bought on Amazon. Any suggestions on a tire restore product that lasts more than a few days?
I was led to this after looking for that tyre shine after seeing chris-fix video on it. Shame its disc
im doing a car right now with exactly that wax! if you want your car really good i recommend to use a machine 👍🏻
Is there enough product for a 3/4 ton truck a 2500 Chevy
I was told once to use this then polish after to bring out the shine but i polish first then use this. Which is the best way
Is it just me or is the spray pretty hard to buff off?
Thinking of getting this ... would it make a difference, say, If I use a Meguiars or a Mother's quick detailer to wipe off the wax instead of the "black detailer" ? Just a thought. Thanks in Advance and greetings from Vancouver.
Never use soap that is not formulated for automobile paint.
The kit works best if you buff off the cleaner wax and carnuba wax then use the detailer spray over the entire vehicle.
Excellent review! Just got this for my car, but it does look like a lot of work. Might opt to pay a pro to get car waxed instead lol. Cheers!
What's the techno song playing around 4:30?
Look the same to me. No difference
Should clay bar it Frist
can i do this in the sun?because i dont have such a large garage
Brian no, don't wax in the sun. The sun will bake the wax in...very bad. Just wait till the evening or early in the morning
Bonjour Pierre, excellente vidéo mais la musique est trop forte comparativement à ta voix. Merci, très informatif.
I was like "hmm, this dude seems legit..." And then outta nowhere *"actually just go ahead and use some regular soap... uhh... that you use to do the dishes"* ...and suddenly I don't trust this guy 😂
Why not,he said that was for taking the old wax off wich is a good wat to do that. The fist carshampoo he showed had wax in it wich would destroy the effect of the jet black.
I wonder if I could just apply ceramic coating instead of waxing the car
sounds like good idea..... seems to be the latest trend
Does the back dye penetrate through the clear coat and dye the base layer? How does it become more black if it lies upon the clear coat?
Can you please explain?
You just blew my mind
When starting with a finish that poor, you need to first have the car polished (With an electric polisher) Probably a good idea to take it to a professional detailer and have a 2-stage paint correction. Paint chips need to be touched up with actual paint too. A wax kit can only do so much. You need a decent foundation first.
Hey all, would love a bit of advice, my car is black but has a fair bit of silver flaking in the paint, Would this product be suitable or would it dull the sparkle?
Reginald Kuntsworth as long as the paint is black you should be fine, it does not matter if it has silver flake or pearl just make sure for you to get the best results clay bar the car first then follow the black box as instructed but if you have some extra dough to spend get some polishing compound and micro fiber towels
+Ruben Betancourth jr great thanks very much
No problem
I used this kit twice on two different black cars and found it to be cumbersome without any better results than ANY liquid car wax. The detailer ain't that great either. One car had a 2006 clear coat and the other a 2000 polyurethane finish.
It says back n forth motion.
Look like you were doing circular.
Never ever ever make a product review and don't show the whole car after it's completed
Totally agree. kept waiting to see the finished product but just got more monologue, and speaker blocking the car from view..
✋😂
Do I wash my car before or after?
Both......
does your car has to be black? Can it be grey?
This product is for black cars only
not sure...maybe ask on the website Turtle Wax....
0:40 sure you do.
I don't see much difference stone chips remain
ohh man... never use household products on the car... If u r not going to cut the clear coat u should at least use a clay bar. My logic suggests that those applicator pad carry the logo only on one side, u should use the smooth surface for product application to avoid new swirl marks, not as u did with the logo side...
Never polish under fluorescent lights!
WHY?
never ever ever use dish soap on your car
Unless the sole purpose is to strip the wax first, then re-apply a fresh coat of wax then yes. But for normal use, no.
did this video make anyone else cringe
Why
Vous auriez pu faire une job 10 fois plus belle avec le compound, polisher et ultimate wax de Meguiar. Prochaine fois ...
Would this work on a jet black iphone?
Don't use "spray detailer" cause it removes all wax and exposes an original surface. It's kinda shampoo+conditioner - the second removes everything the first makes. Just polish wax and you'll be happy.
Boy lover
Thanks for the vid , won’t be buying
Looks the same tp me
If I were you turtle wax, I would get this video removed. I was going to try it product out on my black sedan. But after seeing this video and the end result looking the exact same, I will take my money elsewhere.
I don't see any difference. Looks the same to me.
Regular turtle wax with the right application and detail will do the same thing
maybe some clay?
werkt echt niet
Bro this was definitely an A for effort but man......not the best
You should never use ordinary dish soap on your car it is full of salt
He moves so slow must have taken him forever to finish the whole car haha
BMW's spend most of their life in a garage or auto shop so no worries
first clean a car!!!!
waist of money dong dong
Glad I saw this video I will not purchase this. Car looks the same.
Ta tu bu dans riviere toi calice
not worth it
Saltzs Sandsz and be Safez! Lol speech impediment much?
what a waste of money, not a good product i must say =D
Not much difference. It looks like a 30 dollar waste
this wax don't look good at all. ewww
Sitki Jahja 👀
Looks even worse
