I watched your entire video today and I must say I am very impressed with the results. You must be very proud. Nice documentary and well thought out. Much continued success. Jimi
It was really great that she shared the struggles she encountered while doing this build, because when pursuing an endeavor there will be struggles, the person will grow and triumph. She did an awesome job, professional and on a budget. It was very inspirational. Thank you for posting!!!!
I loved and needed this video! I have a new shed going in next week and the interior will be rough and all on me to finish. To say inspire is not enough. Thank you so much!
Wow, I'd got exasperated on electrical part! You did a beautiful job on building this shed. But, watching you build this wants to make me build things. Hello from Santa Clara, CA (Bay Area) Can't wait to see future videos using you recording room.
Wow...Very good job...!!...You have inspired me enough to actually put on a set of head gasket on my truck..!..I wish you the very best in your quest for the future..Even though I can build ( I actually built my studio ) and I'm just amazed at the persistence you showed in finishing this..As the saying goes, just as long as it passes inspections..!..
Congrats to you! What a great project. You should be SO PROUD of yourself. I hope the work is flowing. Best wishes to you. You’re an inspiration to me.
Absolutely impressive. I just finished the build on my studio in my backyard a couple weeks ago and the process was crazy. I dealt with the pandemic and so many issues just kept arising. Again impressive and congratulations 🎉
Fantastic job Brittany! It took courage to do this on your own and I'm super proud of you, Wow!! Break legs on all your upcoming VO auditions, This will all pay off! Cheers!! ;)
This was REALLY inspiring. It makes me feel a little ashamed that I pay people to do work that I can do myself. I don’t have the budget constraints you did, I have a whole room in my basement for my recording studio - and yet the amount of skill, work, dedication, love you put into this effort is nothing short of amazing. I love seeing the joy on your face at the end. You earned every bit of this!! When I saw the total cost at the end I nearly died. I spent that much money on custom acoustic treatment panels - and you built a whole room on your house with an iso booth inside. I’m humbled, I’m impressed - and I want to be like you when I grow up. Cheers to you!!!
Hooray! I'm so glad you enjoyed! It's been a real treat, working in VO now, knowing that my hands built this cool thing. Plus, I LOOOOVE saving money. Very gratifying. And cozy!
This woman is a beast. Shes not scared to get it done. Im impressed, Im thinking bput doing the samething except with a 15 x 30' shed. Maybe i need to see if she can give me a bid, plus i will be working too, lol. Great job btw.
Awesome JOB on building this yourself. When you started installing the interior, I was floored, because I was still seeing daylight for your roof. You had some excellent luck, that it did not rain before you installed the roof. Any future structure builds, please Rough In before tackling the interior. Again, awesome JOB!!! And, WOW that is a huge Whisperroom.
haha! Summer in Los Angeles- believe me, it is nothing but heat and sun! Thanks for the comment. Yes, I really lucked out with the whisper room- it's a great size and I got it used from someone for a steal. That's also why I needed to leave the roof open- I'm not sure I could've assembled the whisper room in there without the space afforded by open roof and front. If I ever need to disassemble and take that whisper room out? Well, that's a problem for future Brittany ;)
Great job!!! I understand some part of the process of work and it’s a lot. Really astounding you did so much of this alone. Have you had any issues with rain or flooding? I’m looking to finish out a $3500 prebuilt dog shed for my music recording. I didn’t see how you ventilate the space or keep a constant reasonable temp / humidity That’s my biggest concern. It has a sky light, AC unit and window already in the space.
Hi there and congrats on getting the ball rolling on your studio! I'm in Los Angeles, where it's temperate all year long, so weather is hardly ever an issue for me. It did get warm in the heat of summer, so I added a portable A/C that vented out the window and cooled down the space before recording as needed, but really that's only a few weeks out of the year. Rain and flooding is also not an issue. I have a gravel path in front of the studio that soaks up any of the rain in the winter. No puddles. I can't speak from a health or pro-builders perspective, but the fact that you have an A/C unit and a window would tell me that you're fine. Best of luck!
Great video , your hilarious love your personality. I'm in the process of doing the same build only smaller and dealing with many different peices as well so this video is great for some inspiration. Thank you and great job
Well yes, you should be proud of yourself too! I really love your can-do-it-though-I've-never-done-it-before attitude, it really is admirable. I watched with a very sympatico interest as I recently finished a complete gut and rebuild of a room in my house as an acoustically isolated recording space for VO, and share your love of all aspects of drywall. I am not quite the neophyte with these things as you appear to be, but still, the experience was much the same, and I enjoyed sharing your journey. You can rest satisfied! And also, had a nice laugh at your window bit. Well played!
Congradulations, and good Job. I'm considering entering the Voice Over market. I wanted to see your take on a Voice Over booth/shed. I'll just use a closet for a while until I discover if it's for me or not. But it was enjoyable to watch your journey. I hope it's serving you well.
Thanks! Yes, if you have a good closet, much less work and less expense. It's serving me very well and I love working out there. thanks for watching and chiming in!
Wonderful job, Brittany! I've been thinking to build something like this for long time......and in in 2022, still thinking 😂. One thing I noticed that it is still far cheaper in US than UK for this kind of project even after pandemic.
haha! Believe me, I had been thinking about doing this for a long time and spent several years reading about sound design and engineering and home studio builds before finally getting on this, so don't give up! It happens when you're ready. Boo on these prices- I noticed OSB is still really high here in the U.S., so I can't imagine what it's like in the UK.
im a really independant person im a sparky by trade but most carpentry things i can do. I can weld as well and i really cant stand waiting for people to help me so i share your frustration
Wow how incredibly hard of a project to go after totally alone. I have tackled things on my own, but never like this. Your amazing!!! I would have hired a helper and still end up with a bad back experience cause I would want to get it all done so I'm not spending more money for just the labor.
Hi there, I put a standalone A/C (portable) that I use when I'm not recording, and I turn it off when I start. I routed the exhaust through the window. I also have a small fan inside the whisper room.
I’m looking to do the same but with already built shed I’m just worried about outside noise like birds and stuff like that. Loud trucks driving by and what not
Hi Steve, I get this question a lot. 1. I live in Los Angeles, and it's temperate year-round 2. It's in the shadiest part of the yard, and a tree hangs over it 3. Insulation in the walls helps 4. In winter, I put a light jacket on 5. in summer, I keep a desk fan in there and run it between takes 6. in deep summer, I have a portable A/C that I pipe cold air in with for 20 minutes before I go in. Hope this helps!
Good question, and I've now experienced 1 LA summer in it. It wasn't the worst. Since it's in a shady part of the yard under a tree, it's the coolest area of our property. Plus, the insulation for sure helps. When it got peak heat this past summer, I got a portable AC from a friend and piped the exhaust out the window and cooled it off before sessions. It worked fairly well.
Hi there! I had built a tool shed, tons of furniture, kitchen cabinets and a walk in pantry. So loads of experience, just not this particular exact build.
I'm sure you know by now, that the roof and exterior walls have to be completed first. Dried in before electrical or sheetrock or flooring. Did you forget about air-conditioning? And what was the point of the window if it was going to be covered?
HINT: Pulling is easier than Pushing. Setup a pully system when raising walls. So many things wrong with this build but congrats on doing it yourself. #1 thing your water is going to run off on the electrical box to the house. You should include the WHINE LADY in your reel.
Outstanding resolve. We all "whine", and then those committed get on with it. Thanks for posting cost, we never see that. "...resentful...making dinner..." thoughts, Mr's an actor, so we too do a lot of tap dancing, particularly around schedules, however... Yes, part of the difficulties for women building (working, etc.) is we don't have wives, who run the house for us, when we exhaust ourselves on these projects. I've a 60 day "I'm not your mother and you're no longer a guest" rule: anyone living in my household for more than 60 days either does the cooking or the dishes. And then we divvy up the rest of the housework. We're not meanly attached to 50/50, if I'm tired from yard work, or he arrives late from NYC/filming, we each accommodate cooking/dishes/etc. of the other. It's not my dirt, meals, laundry and I see no reason for only 1 taking up the work for it. Trolling for wood thoughts, small towns' dumps, or find new house construction going on, and follow them on their end of day runs. Hey guys! Many asked for a followup on the studio and how it's working for me, and I filmed one here: ruclips.net/video/SV4_kNLRUII/видео.html
You're a real

Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
We both had the same idea, the LED light controller at the door :D amazing build❤❤❤
Dude the dry humor/jokes made this video that much better! Great work on doing things the right way, I'm sure it was very rewarding!
Thank you for sharing! This is the motivation I need to build my at home hair studio 🩷🩷🩷 you’re amazing Brittany and it shows all right here!

Baby, I knew you were finished when I saw the red lippie! You did that! Amazing job my dear!
So nice!
You’re a great example.
God bless you!
Thank you so much!
Great build. Once I saw what you paid for the whisper room I was floored. Great find and well worth building what you built. Congratulations.
It was a true steal!

Thank you! It was a journey, and one I'm glad I undertook. Just signed with a new VO agent!

Indeed! Could you try insulating the inside and double drywalling?
great work there. How big is the shed?
Thanks! The whisper room inside the shed is 6x8. The shed itself is around 10x11, IIRC.
how did you handle HVAC for heat and cool quietly??? thanks

Well I'm glad it did! : )
Congrats on the build. I hope it's still holding up for you!

Hello! I lived in OK for about 5 years, but I live in L.A. now.
No AC, is going to be a sauna room in summer with LA heats!?
