On today's Steam Deck video I will go over the games I recommend you play on your Steam Deck today when it comes to MAME! Because a LOT of people were asking about videos showcasing the best common and hidden gem games you can play via EmuDeck emulation on Steam Deck...so this is a test! If this video does well...I will make more :)
But these are the games I recommend you check out for MAME on Steam Deck! when it comes to 3D arcade games in MAME! Because not everyone grew up in the 90s arcade retrogaming generation...and maybe you missed some of the deep cuts in the video from back in the day!

Again I recommend getting a Dock for your Steam Deck as the process is MUCH easier that way!
But the Steam Deck is proving to be an amazing retrogaming handheld video game emulation machine and I love it!

My son just played Prop Cycle a few years back here in Vegas at the Pinball Hall of Fame, and it wore him out, as the peddling on the cab is a good workout.
Its def a game that gets your heart rate up!
Some great suggestions, thanks! One of my biggest challenges has been sorting through all the MAME games and figuring out what’s what. I need to learn more about how to filter/sort them by hardware, manufacturer, year, etc so I can find more games to play. But you’ve been a huge help with recommendations. Thanks!

Yeah for sure. Question if you can: do you know of a good way to dig through the thousands of games to find stuff? Is there a database or something out there that helps you find stuff? Or is it just experience as a collector?

I was a HUGE fan of Silent Scope in the arcades, so I was always hopeful the Golgo 13 games would have been brought home or at least to US arcades. But sadly, I guess the cost of those cabs along with the niche audience in the states meant it was never meant to be. But they look amazing running through emulation, so I'll for sure be playing them once I get my deck.

Rush, Cruis'n World, and California Speed?!? If you are not playing those, you're not living life. Love 'em. Plus CarnEvil, EX2 Plus, and Crypt Killer (admittedly, I've only ever played the ugly-as-sin Saturn version, which is still fun at least even if it's about as ugly as some of the GBA 3d titles). And, props for featuring Prop Cycle again...I still need to try it out someday (I checked just my Steam backlog the other day, and I have 292 games I've never even opened...)! Actually, if Rapid River ever gets to a good state of emulation, then we can take the Deck or the ROG Ally etc, jump in a whitewater raft and play Rapid River while raging down a river!

Last time i thought about having a light gun was house of the dead on dreamcast and duck hunt on nes before that. Now im motivated to set one up for golgo 13. Currently the only MAME game I have on my deck is Outfoxies but this video has me curious about more.

I have been unable to run Dirt Dash, I have tried multiple versions and although I am able to reach the leaderboard screen the game then crashes and returns to emulation station, any ideas on what I might try?
Hmm. Should work. I was just playing it last month no issue. Maybe update RetroArch
I was generally gutted that Alpine Racer and PropCycle didn’t get a console port
I get why Prop Cycle wouldn’t. Basically the entire premise would be lost to a controller
How'd you get san francisco rush to run without audio crackling issues? Running the retroarch mame current on emudeck has awful audio crackling
I just “ran it”. Maybe an update caused some issue

I will once Windows installations aren’t so annoying. It’s just janky enough where I feel like a large portion of the audience is gonna get into trouble with it

I tried to get mame to work on steam deck no matter how many times I've tried and I cant find anything that would work with steam deck with mame games...... any advices? Oh, its roms if that matters.

They work just like any other games. Sure you have the CHD if needed?
Same I got every single mame rom for this under the sun and emu in steam deck won’t even recognize the file when parsing for solar assault. I don’t know where he got it from. And I don’t think solar assault requires a chd file but I couldn’t find any listings for it. I’m stumped.

The Model 1 game? It works but is prone to freezing
