The Tang dynasty, one of the richest in artistic, literary, spiritual, legal and economic terms. I love the magic and mystery of these tales, and the sense of humor. I'm delighted, thanks for your suggestion!
Almost every character of this generation was single in blood of youth. Baili dong Jun was trapped in memories of his lover. Lei mangsha and his wife were gone. The royal uncle had gone a long ago in treason. The third lord had lost the wife. Wuxin father had died tragically. Like every character had tragic back story. I don't have the heart to watch them, fell for them and cry my heart out😅
@@ammaraawan1328 At this point Sikong Changfeng might be the only one of them that got somewhat of a happy ending. Like yeah his wife is dead but he has his daughter and he seems to have had a happy period with his wife before she died.

I didn't watch Blood of Youth so I can't compare that way but I've been so waiting for a wuxia drama like this for a while. Omg the action and fight scenes are so fun. So happy rn ☺️
I'm watching Dashing Youth and as someone that has watched Blood of Youth. You will understand that BOY is better storyline, character depth and direction wise. Fr. Anything you are feeling Watching DY will be multiplied watching BOY.
As an European woman, as an historian and art historian, I appreciate so much your insights about Chinese history and culture so very much. I try to learn and read as much as I can (not so much time to do it... unfortunately), but your fresh point of views, your comments and perspective are so lively and cunning and mindful... Thank you so much! really hoping that this second season of Strange Tales of Tang Dinasty brings us to the dramatic events occurred at that troubled time of China history... I will learn and visualising and remember it in a wonderful and impressive way., for sure.
Your opinions in this video is really why I watch all your stuff Sometimes I will get pointed towards dramas that I am usually not interested in and be surprised. So glad I found your channel.
I hope STOTD includes all those historial milestones because I want you to make a special video explaining about all that while referencing dramas . I'm not Chinese so most of the time I don't get those Easter eggs. Desperately waiting for a good ending so that I can expect a special video from you😊😊.
I didn't know what to expect for Dashing Youth until I got to watch episode 1. I realized it's based on the novel that's the basis for 少年白马醉春风 (The Young Brewmaster's Adventure), which was an entertaining donghua when it came out back in 2022. I've become accustomed to a number of Chinese dramas and donghua with large casts that appear and disappear seemingly in an instant, I will reserve thoughts on that for later in the series. What I've come to realize is that life is messy, and characters find themselves in situations and with people for whom a twenty-minute video introduction may prove of less worth than just watching what they do and how they interact. The main story has been easy to follow, and pretty true to the source material from what I've read. It is a prequel to the novel from which 少年歌行 (The Blood of Youth) came, although it is actually the second novel from the author. For those who've watched The Blood of Youth, a number of those in Dashing Youth appear there as older versions of themselves here. This is before they became famous, so everyone is much rougher than their "polished" later selves. And, of course, Spoilers Abound if you've watched either The Blood of Youth or the related donghua. Sometimes knowing the ending of things can spoil enjoyment of the present. At a guess, this drama is aimed at those who've (1) watched and enjoyed The Blood of Youth drama or related donghua, (2) watched and enjoyed The Young Brewmaster's Adventure donghua, or (3) read and enjoyed either of the first two novels or any of the other novels in the same universe. Also, those who enjoy both donghua-style visuals and wuxia stories.
I was quite worried Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty S2 cant live up to the brilliant s1 and i am glad it did not dissappoint. The cases has been interesting and best part is the original cast were all retained. Plus the actors are not pretty face idol actors it just makes the characters believable and relatable
I was a bit scared to start stranger tales of Tang Dinasty2 because I really liked the first season and I didn’t want to spoil it. So I was waiting for your review. I finally can start it ! Thank you.
I agree! Dashing Youth is targeted towards a selective audience for fans who have read the webnovel, watch the donghua anime. In my opinion, I still enjoy Dashing Youth. The actors does a decent job and acted like the character in The Young Brewmaster donghua anime. I would suggest new/casual audiences to check out the anime series if you want to understand who is who and what’s the plot. I do agree they are selling the CPs too fast. Ye Ding Zhi does play a role but in truth it’s more of female lead who plays more of a role for Baili Dongjun. It’s nice seeing Ye Ding Zhi play a big role but I don’t want audiences to mix up the real CP 😅
Very true, the story targeted towards the fans that already watched the “Teenagers Universe”, coming from a fan that read the novels and watch all of the Donghua including Dark River so these characters should be known to the audiences that has already followed the series. I liked both series and can’t wait for Dark River.
@@SoloLVLing_VIP4BL difference is that in Donghua people who deserve to be ended are ended eventually ...in this - first garbage Emperor who send his friend to be ended with all his family because of false accusations got nothing ... they force his fiance to mary next garbage emperor who got nothing too and wife he stole eventually returned to him so one character which should get justice (Ye Ding Zhi) got nothing only dead and people who deserved to be ended got basically happy ending ...i cant like it Donghua version of these stories is much better ....this is just drama for single cat ladies ...
I appreciate the fact that this new drama has made the effort to make truly historical with the artifacts and actual events. Thanks for bringing this to my attention because I'll enjoy this drama more knowing what's coming ahead. Many kind thanks.
I would love to hear you talk more about the cultural references in STOTD西行 or the series in general because even I didn't catch all the references that showed up in the series it's just so fascinating!
I dropped Dashing Youth after two epis and the reasons are the exactly what you mentioned. I guess that I'll wait for the Blood of Youth #2. I do enjoy Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty 2, the fight scenes are good and plot is interesting. The fight scenes in Dashing Youth is like Xianxia, not Wuxia.
Blood of Youth was definitely better, but having watched up to ep 12 now, the plot of Dashing Youth does start to pick up after the first few intro episodes. Tbf Dashing Youth is a more stereotypical coming of age/hero's journey story than BoY so the political intrigue is a bit slower to build.
I dropped it as well, but it was because they altered some of the things. They didn't include some of the side character, like Baili Dongjun's maid. I guess, it comes from my liking the donghua, I didn't like the changes made in the story
I stopped and listened all because you are reviewing strange tales of tang dynasty season 2. After magistrate Di, i am so happy to be watching this drama. I LOVE IT!
I was confused at first with the introduction of so many characters, but once you get a grip, you would understand the purpose of their roles and the bond between them. Especially protagonist and antagonist
I watched this part 2 after watching your review. The second case with the supporting actors , all cases actually, are all so good. This series definitely has rewatch value. The second case in particular, the scene when the wife read her husband will and she laughed and then cry… that breaks my heart so much.
I've come here for STOTD, I am eagerly waiting for this drama and so happy it has maintained the expectations even did better than first season , maybe this drama can be my iconic drama of 2024 in c dramaland, really praying that they keep maintained this standard till the end
Sticking it out and it is definitely getting better! I am very impressed with the actors who have played double roles, first in Blood of Youth and now in Dashing Youth. I love the actors' faithfulness to these projects. I cannot wait for Blood of Youth 2 now!
First time in a really long time seeing her being this positive. Started STOTD S1 because of her and I really like it. Yeah Dashing Youth feels rushed.
I am watching Lost you forever 2 and although there are many excellent actors the 9 headed demon (who is also the artist in Skin) brings so much emotion and mystery to the show. Once you referred to the woman in a drama where all the men are in love with her as a Mary Jane. Although so many men are in love with one woman, she isn't vain or the kind of woman who is only interested in men. She is an unusual character.
I ended up dropping Dashing Youth after episode 11.. however, I am looking forward to watching Guardians of the Dafeng, Fangs of the Fortune, and Reborn for Love.
I have watched Strange tales Season 2 till ep 16. It's engaging and fast paced. Was a breeze to watch ! I like how the show tied up the ends so the scenes all have a meaning.. As for Dashing youth , I had high hopes for it seeing Hou Min Hao and the fighting scenes on Tiktok but the ep 1 kinds of bore me when i saw the same scenario of restaurant owner... so dropped it and went to watch Strange tales..
I haven’t watched the donghua or read any of the webnovels and I am thoroughly enjoying Dashing Youth! I’m loving the little surprises: from finding out that Bai Dongjun is a fake name (yeah i totally glazed over the plot summary 😅), getting shocked that Yi Dingzhi is his dead bff, shocked that Dongjun isn’t so bad at martial arts, shocked and excited when Dongjun is reunited with their other childhood friend, etc. I did watch until episode 2 of Blood of Youth while waiting for new episodes but couldn’t quite get into it yet.
I enjoyed 'strange tale of tang dynasty 1' , so I am happy to hear that s2 keeps its style and characters. I'm looking forward to watch it 😊 A side note: I am still sad that 'Ancient detective S2', still haven't been picked up by any company. S1 was so good. Why wont anyone make a S2? 😮 Oh well... At least I get S2 in Strange tale😅
I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying watching Dashing Youth. I started to rewatch this drama and am enjoying it more the second time around because there are so many characters. The drama is lighthearted fun.
I am really enjoying Tang Dynasty 2. I agree with all your points about it and I would add that it's got some really clever and funny dialogue in the cases. Case 3 was such a blast with the group of people snowed in at an inn and SHOCK a death happens! Lu Ling Feng is dashing as ever and definitely powered up (at least his fighting looks even more impressive in season 2). I hope it can do really well performance wise because it deserves it! I watched Blood of Youth and never got into it as everyone else did. I just felt like none of the people in Blood of Youth could really act (main and side) and the only thing that was holding that drama up for me was the overall story which was fun and exciting. I was hoping that Dashing Youth could have at least fun/exciting story since it's the same team. I thought Hou Ming Hao was really good as Wang Ye in I'm nobody... but seems like it's doesn't transfer to this? But guess I'll just have to check it out to see
Watch dashing youth, then got bored and went to watch the Blood of Youth. I ended up watching blood of youth all over again bc it hook me in right from the beginning 😅. Dashing Youth I don't feel any strong bond between any of the characters.
You clearly didn't watched it....the main characters have such strong bond....especially with his best friends...they were ready to sacrifice everything would do anything to keep the promise even if the smallest
I agree with you about Dashing Youth, I wish there would be more story focusing on the main character Bai Li DongJun than what ever that happens around him, its so many to tell and no one is focusing on just one, I think bcoz it's the novel also like that, its totally a mess. but, because Huo Ming Hou is so cute, I enjoy watched this so much
I watch the first 10 minute of Dashing Youth, i get bored and left. But some days later i have nothing else to watch so i give it a second try because the male lead is Neo Huo XD. and i am now craving for more.... It has the same vibe as Blood of Youth. Not to mention the cast is full of beautiful flowers lol... i feel like my eyes is being blessed.
Blood of youth is a good drama, and so far no comparison in quality with this "sequel"... you are guiding us in the cascade of dramas produced and launched in this half of the year 2024, and your comments and observations are going always to the very bottom of drama making, acting, producing and creating... So = thank you once again. I can follow your reasoning smoothly and with total agreement.
I'm here because it's really hard to find a motivation to continue watching Dashing Youth. I want to watch it because I love the Blood of Youth, but what I feel is exactly like what you mentioned. My expectations was so high before.
currently binging both series. side note about DY: because this drama is competing with the Donghua version that came before(which ppl have high praises for), the audience has certain expectations of how this drama is presented. so what you're seeing its the adaptation of an adaptation, and some scenes are literally shot by shot copy and pasted from the donghua (not that it's a bad thing, just to be aware of). by no way to discourage anyone from watching it though! if the story premise is your cup of tea then go for it!
What tickles me about Ms X's review is her comment about the frenzied CP creation😂 ! Now every time i watch HMH in this drama, i start to note the CP vibes swirling around him 😂 This drama is not as neatly structured as Blood of Youth but it gets better and better with each episode. On Strange Tales S2, I am delighted that Liu Lin Fung has a stronger & tougher presence this time round. He fits every gal's fantasy too🤣
I am only watching Dashing Youth because of Xia ZhiGuang because I liked his acting in The Spirealm, he really played my favorite character from the novel really well
Anyone here watched ‘Nancheng Banquet’ (南城宴)? It’s a light hearted, hilariously ridiculous comedy about a female assassin who botches her mission and loses her memory, ending up as a eunuch in the palace. I was pleasantly surprised by the cast, especially male lead Wang You Shuo. I’ve only previously seen him playing morally ambiguous supporting roles. Am now seeing him in new light 😍. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea but if you’re like me - some gags had me spluttering with laughter, it’s worth checking it out. 😂
When donghua version of "Dashing Youth" came out, a number of live comments mentioned that its source novel was weaker than "Blood of Youth" source novel. A number of characters will die during Tian Wai Tian (Demond Cult) invasion. My feeling is it tries to portray life in which one meets many many people, doesn't get to know many well while being preoccupied with one's own life, then the next thing one knows is that some are dead. I suppose it's a good thing that I'm not a shipper. They can throw a ton of cps at me and I won't fall for even one. Never watched "Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty". Streamed 6 eps of part 2. The younger 1st male lead is rather stiff. (His dubbing voice doesn't "fit him.") Hubris seems to be his main problem. The older 1st male lead has line delivery problems, due to a past illness, I read. He is exhausting to listen to. The two younger female characters are fine. Everyone in the royal family, including younger 1st male lead but excluding the crown prince, seems to suffer from some kind of mental illness like bipolar disorder. Same for the famous painter. For me, it's simply too much "overacting". By ep 2, I guessed about 70% of mystery and didn't misidentify the real "bad guys". Afterwards, it took about 60% of my attention. Not sure whether I'll continue watching.
I hated Blood of Youth and never could get "in" to it (I skimmed through the entire thing) BUT... I LOVE Dashing Youth. I had no idea the two were even related until I just heard it here. As far as Dashing Youth goes... you can take the first three and a half episodes... wrap them up in toilet paper and flush them. All that time I was just looking up the pretty actors in My Drama List to see what all they had acted in before but when I got halfway through episode 4 and He Yu showed up (The Legend of ShinLi, Fu Rong), I was HOOKED! The main, (Neo Hou from Back From the Brink) male lead's master showed up and that's were all the good stuff began. From that point on the show has been extremely satisfying (from my point of view.) It's painful having to wait till the next day to see more. ❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍
Strange tales of Tang Dynasty 2 our already, waited so long and now cannot connect to the storyline but will definitely watch, 2 Great ML you know who!!! First sure! Dashing Youth amazing CGI still watching!! 👌👍
I love Dashing Youth. Yes, there are a few issues, but it doesn't take away from me enjoying the show, and I totally enjoyed Blood of Youth. Please watch the show and any other shows and make your own opinion, but it's great to hear a review to give you some guidance on what to aspect.
The drama is about Wenjun and Ye Dingzhi but it takes forever to get to that side of the plot. And once it gwt there its very engaging but infuriating. The point is they should have showed the death of the general Ye l. The emperors betrayal and why Baili Dongjun is part of the plot because he is bestfriends with the Ye Dingzhi who ia general Ye's son. Now in the end Ye Dingzhi sayw to hell with it and everyone deserves to feel the wrath cause he didnt even need to try he was defeated from the jump. For me i think the biggest dropped ball here is not setting the scene by ahowing the betrayal why the emperors frienda dont even want to be associated with him and how Wenjun is the reason for Ye Dingzhis anger. But yeah Ye Dingzhi and wenjun the main leads the rest assecories that are potrayed and mains. Baili is also kinfa important but its mainly Wen and Ye
Yes dashing youth problem is they character dumped soooo many characters so early in the drama, and as a person who watch it for sikong changfeng character only to have him disappear after 4 eps i found it hard to continue 😂
I totally agree with the problems with Dashing Youth. I'm on episode 3 and deciding if i want to continue. The reason i was excited for it was because i like Blood of Youth. But the thing that i liked about Blood of Youth was barely there-namely proper fight scenes! The characters don't even bother to raise a fist or even throw weapons, it's all wind blowing and CGI lights
I'm at about the same place in each drama as AveX. I'm really enjoying Strange Tales. I loved S1 and, so far, I am not disappointed (maybe a little bit with the Mo's Inn story). They are doing a great job continuing the story from the end of S1. Blood of Youth is one of my favorite dramas. I am finding Dashing Youth slow and unfocused so far, but I'm hoping it improves. There are so many characters and I need them to spend more time developing these relationships. So glad I have multiple dramas to watch and enjoy.
Dashing is getting better after, but still a bit confused. Who is who and disguised to who... SToTD2 is good, especially after reading all the staff about Wu Zetien and following period. History like Chinese drama, so intriguing that period, all strong women one after another. Thank you for making me curious about it.
As someone who has watched both dramas"The blood of youth" and ongoing "Dashing youth" it's prequel of "The blood of youth" but Dashing youth is no comparison to The blood of youth the way Plot twists, character and their are perfectly reach to fans is so good . So for me I can't stand Dashing youth it's way to stupid .
@@estheryang9904 I watched it for all of the main characters but mostly because of Xiang Liu also. I'm so sad about his ending tho...he deserved beter!
I’m currently watching dashing youth and I could say I’m enjoying it. Although I would say the plot is somewhat all over the place since it does focus on too much at once, I really like the casts in the drama which makes me wanting to see more of there acting. For me, the casts usually brings me to watch something before I even know what the plot is. Plus I have watched blood of youth when it just came out and these 2 have some similarities, but tbh I forgot a lot of the plot from BoY, so aside from the sect names or something, this drama isn’t much like BoY to me. But I feel like I like this somewhat more than others is because I’m in my late teens while some people who’s older might like older cast that aren’t considered young as this dramas cast. But this is all just my opinion, overall my current rating for this drama is probably a 8.5/10
I agree that if someone hadn't watched Blood of Youth they wouldn't understand what is going on in Dashing Youth- and I HAD watched Blood of Youth, but had forgotten a lot in the gap between the two. With ep 1, not knowing this was the prequel to Blood of Youth, I noticed the similarity in the beginnings and wondered whether script writers somewhere had gotten into a stale formula. I had to google to find out that this was the prequel, then I had to go back and watch scenes with the Liquor Deity to make the connection. I will probably keep watching because I want to see certain relationships resolve, but my one pet peeve is just too much alcohol! I GET it- Liquor Deity- but even when he is riding a horse he has to hold a bottle in one hand? I am getting tired of watching him throw back his head and pour that liquid down. I wonder what message that sends to youth that to be successful you have to be an alcoholic! I am enjoying the performances of the supporting characters though, especially the one that talks too much. When he shows up and even just smiles, it brings new energy to the scene.
Alcohol thing turn me off too , I think it should be illegal drinking while riding a horse LOL , but acually very enjoying the drama ,and I love Hou Ming hao pretty face ,not that intersted in his love story but home they will have bit of chemistry
Just watched up to half way thru ep. 4 in DY yesterday. My top three things which have turned me off CD's are the unnecessary dubbing, repeated storylines and the focus on beauty. Why do I keep coming back? I keep hoping to come across another Imperial Coroner I guess. It's my getaway from today's politics. And yes, I hate the CCP, but something about China hits a soft spot. Also, the lack of sexuality is nice. But thanks for the recommendations. I'll try strange tales now, and blood of youth.
Then if I plan to watch all of these series, and since there’s a prequel, what is the best order in which to watch them? I rely heavily on subtitle translations FYI
I'm allowed to watch Strange Tales free for 7 episodes. I have just finished Ep 1 & wow! got me completely hooked, line & sinker !! Definitely, one worth waiting for each episode to come 🤗🥰😍
After watching your video about qin..i would like to check the qin poaition in drama LOL. And .I found that in strange tales of tang dynasty ep 5..they put the qin in right way😊
I am enjoying dashing youth because the blood of youth did a good job of hooking us into the world of beili!! But if u didnt watch blood of youth u wont really understand it I think the main problem of dashing youth is that they didnt establish proper world building and backstories because they are trying to condense too much in one 40 episode run but should have told the story over maybe 2 seasons of 35-40 episodes each!!! Remember the world of beili is already established and inherited in blood of youth!! Dashing youth is supposed to show us the complex scenarios that eventually lead the how the world is in blood of youth but they just went to comedic with it!! I think the dark river assasins faction is getting a spin off so maybe there will be series on every faction's backstory that will add to the beili world building and eventually everything will make sense!!
I think you should watch it for yourself and see if you like it. What's grey in someone's eyes might be black and white in your eyes. I started watching blood of youth but wasn't too hooked because I'm not bromance fan(not that I'm homophobic),so I'm not into Dashing Youth.
tbh, imo the mc of dashing youth needs to be a more silly, happy go lucky character before the turns of events change him, and when he's drunk I need more sparks from him aside from the effects that makes him look much stronger. From a glimpse of things I've seen, I'm attracted to LeiMengsha's character more. and the objective of the storyline must be clearer, the script department don't seem to be good abt this tho 😅
I watched Dashing Youth until Youku said I needed VIP subscription to see more. Based on what I've seen, I'm not sure it's worth the cost. Strange Tales 2, however is really enjoyable.
Thank you for voicing the same opinion as me about Dashing Youth! I am a fan of the donghua and also of Neo, so I was super excited for this series but it was so... 'nothing special'? Even tho I am a fan of the donghua, I was still a bit confused with some of the characters since it's been awhile since watching it. It didn't enchant me as Blood of Youth did, and besides being a fan of the actor I didn't feel attached to any of the characters in the series. Their attitudes sort of just didn't mash-up well as it did in the donghua. Also, the CGI... it's not even fighting when they use so much CGI to show their powers instead of actually touching each other in a fight. Overuse of CGI is an understatement. And I'm not a fan of most of their outfits/cloth and hairstyles. I am currently on ep6 but I might just wait until it finishes airing then play it on a day I am cleaning the house, just to see Neo. 🤣 As for the CPs... is it bad that the donghua's computer animated characters had more chemistry than the live action series? 😗
Did we watch the same show? Donghua wasn't even start of his journey. It's until his first master's death. Only after that he started his adventure as Mister Li's disciple and entered the Martial art world.

I wanted to love Strange Tales and i tried watching season 1 THRICE, but i just dont feel it. I’ve fallen asleep and just stopped watching at ep 3. Anyone else or just me? 🤷🏻♀️ Maybe i’ll try watching it again.
The drama gets better after they leave the capital (after the first case). Some cases are better than others (the Inn case 😨). I’ve really liked the first season but we are all different. So I would say let’s try a fourth time 😂 !
Sometimes that drama just don't click with you despite all the rave reviews & its perfectly fine. Everyone has different taste. I personally really like Strange Tales of Dynasty from S1 and S2 has been entertaining for me too. So it's ok to not like it just not your cup tea
Dashing Youth is a very 'pretty' drama. If I'm honest, if one of the main character group got killed off in the next episode I would not feel any emotion. I am not emotionally invested in any of them, which I was in the Blood of Youth series. That said, I don't think it takes itself too seriously and just romps along. I can deal with that as a fun watch. I don't think Strange Tales II is as good as the first series somehow. The cases are certainly interesting but I don't engage with the leads. That said, I didn't engage in the first season either. (At least they placed the Qin correctly on the table!)
I watched Blood of Youth and really want to like the Dashing Youth, but I am worried about the storytelling. To me, it's confusing even though I watched TBOY, and knowing what happens to the characters makes it less appealing for some reason (I guess that's what it feels like to watch a prequel). I feel like I have no hope for certain characters and no idea what the things/events/people they are introducing to me bring to the story. On the other hand, great special effects! It's a not that bad if I turn off my brain, accept that most of the characters are going to do something heroic and then promptly die 🙃, and focus on the pretty people and pretty special effects. Tbh, it definitely would have been more enjoyable for me if I didn't watch TBOY. Hope the new Douluo Dalu doesn't end up the same way 😔
As someone who randomly binged Blood of Youth a few weekends ago, I tried Dashing Youth, and it is quite boring. And as Avenue X said the similar format makes the show suffer from comparison and does not hold up. I quit the show after 6 episodes.
Dashing Youth lacks the oomph of "Blood of youth". It seems there is no sincerity behind that production. Or is it the lack of chemistry between the leads ? Emotionally not feeling the connection. Last but not the least I cannot get into Hou Ming Hao
gotchu: 西行 journey westward, pays its origins from the great chinese classical novel Journey To The West (published in 1500s). It's rooted in the ideals of buddhism explains the journey westward to achieve enlightenment and spiritual freedom. the premise of the novel is about Monkey King Sun Wukong assisting the Tang Dynasty monk Xuanzang (tripitaka) on his journey west to retrieve buddhist scriptures to bring back to the Tang emperor, and subsequently achieve enlightenment in the process. if you're familiar with Goku from DB, or the upcoming game Black Myth Wukong, character is actually heavily inspired from this novel. based on this you can interpret that the premise of the westward journey is like the idea of achieving spiritual freedom, self discovery, and breaking away from mortal bounds, or the journey to become a better person. If you simplify the traditional dramas, you can see a lot of the lore/concepts play around with this. In Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty S2, the main characters go through the tribulations on their journey, leading them to change and discover things that challenges their original ideals. Hope this helps!
The Tang dynasty, one of the richest in artistic, literary, spiritual, legal and economic terms. I love the magic and mystery of these tales, and the sense of humor. I'm delighted, thanks for your suggestion!
A prequel for Blood of Youth makes me nervous because we know the tragic ends of most of the characters

I've been enjoying watching The Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty Season 2 so far. The 1st season was so good.
Did you hear that there's going to be a season 3 for Strange Tales? Such good news!
Avenue X has single-handedly kept me invested in Cdramas these last couple years
Your opinions in this video is really why I watch all your stuff Sometimes I will get pointed towards dramas that I am usually not interested in and be surprised.
@@dalsta7724 oh... I was going to asked if it was based on that novel.
I enjoyed the anime version of 'the young brew master adventure'.
I’m enjoying dashing youth 💯❤️
I’m very happy how SToTD2 turns out especially how they link the cases to some real historical elements.
I've just started Strange Tales & the only thing I want to know right now is who painted that STUNNING mural 😍😍😍
I was a bit scared to start stranger tales of Tang Dinasty2 because I really liked the first season and I didn’t want to spoil it. So I was waiting for your review. I finally can start it ! Thank you.
I went back to watch season one as I wait for new episodes of season 2.
Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty 2 is a go to. And Mr Chicken Fed is still funny
I also dropped after 2 episodes, but i did go back to just check ep3 and gets little better
Go back and pick up mid way of episode 4. You are missing a really good show.
I dropped it as well, but it was because they altered some of the things. They didn't include some of the side character, like Baili Dongjun's maid. I guess, it comes from my liking the donghua, I didn't like the changes made in the story
Lol dashing youth is far more better than blood of youth.
I stopped and listened all because you are reviewing strange tales of tang dynasty season 2. After magistrate Di, i am so happy to be watching this drama. I LOVE IT!
I binge watched season 1 & 2 STTD. Loved it ❤
I was confused at first with the introduction of so many characters, but once you get a grip, you would understand the purpose of their roles and the bond between them. Especially protagonist and antagonist
I've been enjoying strange tales of tang dynasty a lot too!!!
I was worried when I saw two drama reviews in one but I'm glad it wasn't as I expected and quite enjoyable to watch this way too.
I am really enjoying Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty 2! And they do really throw more money here. Hahaha.
I literally had to cancel my Hulu and Netflix subscription because I got so invested in Cdramas mentioned in this channel
I am enjoying strange tales of Tang dynasty season 2, it's exciting.
I'm really excited about this review, I was planning on watching these drama's very soon
I enjoyed 'strange tale of tang dynasty 1' , so I am happy to hear that s2 keeps its style and characters.
I'm looking forward to watch it 😊
A side note:
I am still sad that 'Ancient detective S2', still haven't been picked up by any company. S1 was so good. Why wont anyone make a S2? 😮
Oh well... At least I get S2 in Strange tale😅
Ancient Detective deserves a second season.
Youku is toooo BRIGHT for my eyes
I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying watching Dashing Youth. I started to rewatch this drama and am enjoying it more the second time around because there are so many characters. The drama is lighthearted fun.
Ooh si lovely to see you so enthusiastic about a drama !
I always love your perspektive of looking at the dramas. By the way, pretty nice hair style of yours 😊
But guess I'll just have to check it out to see
Thank you for these reviews. I am enjoying your styling, beautiful !
Now, I wanna hear your rant video about The Princess Royal 😂
oh no don't say that I was looking forward to watching that because her first impression video was good did it turn bad or something?
@@lotussong8294 it’s not bad but it left a lot of people divided
I don't she will make a video since she already made one before, she might mention it in her livestream.
On point as always, for both.
Watch dashing youth, then got bored and went to watch the Blood of Youth. I ended up watching blood of youth all over again bc it hook me in right from the beginning 😅. Dashing Youth I don't feel any strong bond between any of the characters.
I like Dashing Youth so far but god I miss Ao Ruipeng so badly
@dustrose8101 I love watching ao ruipeng. He was so fun to watch
He fits every gal's fantasy too🤣
I am only watching Dashing Youth because of Xia ZhiGuang because I liked his acting in The Spirealm, he really played my favorite character from the novel really well
I actually like Dashing Youth alot so far
Anyone here watched ‘Nancheng Banquet’ (南城宴)? It’s a light hearted, hilariously ridiculous comedy about a female assassin who botches her mission and loses her memory, ending up as a eunuch in the palace. I was pleasantly surprised by the cast, especially male lead Wang You Shuo. I’ve only previously seen him playing morally ambiguous supporting roles. Am now seeing him in new light 😍. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea but if you’re like me - some gags had me spluttering with laughter, it’s worth checking it out. 😂
You’re looking luminous in this vid
I haven't watched SToTD, but you're excitement has convinced me to go ahead and watch now!
BTW, when you mention 'CP,' what does that mean?
Character Pairing= ships (could be romance or bromance between any two characters)
@@kathlynsm8059 thank you!
I am enjoying Dashing youth and Strange tales of Tang dynasty a lot.
I’m enjoying STOTD is clever ❤️💯💯
regarding Strange tales of Tang Dinasty season 2, I wish the same would happen with My journey to you.
I only watch period dramas that are avenue approved so let's see what's my new drama will be
I'm at about the same place in each drama as AveX.
I saw the pictures for Dashing Youth and was not enticed.
Dashing is getting better after, but still a bit confused. Who is who and disguised to who... SToTD2 is good, especially after reading all the staff about Wu Zetien and following period. History like Chinese drama, so intriguing that period, all strong women one after another. Thank you for making me curious about it.
I really love your hairstyle in this video! s2 Is there a tutorial of how to do this hair somewhere?
I wonder what’s your review on Interlaced Scenes (錯位), I’m enjoying this new Light On miniseries right now. Plans to start STTD2 after this.
She haven't do one on Lost You Forever 2 yet...😭
LYF season 2 i only watch because of Xiangliu 😅
I haven't started watching it because we know how tragic the end of most of these characters is.
@@fatisummer9106 I like Hou Ming too- not just his gorgeous face but his sense of humor. I loved him in I Am Nobody.
@@bartonbella3131 I hear you!
Definitely, one worth waiting for each episode to come 🤗🥰😍
and ... gonna look up the 1st season too. Have not seen it before 🤩😘
Yes, I also watched the free episodes so only up to episode 7, should be 8 now. It's been great
After watching your video about qin..i would like to check the qin poaition in drama LOL.
I was just downloading ep 2 of Dashing Youth and after these comments,no need of wasting my data
I think you should watch it for yourself and see if you like it. What's grey in someone's eyes might be black and white in your eyes. I started watching blood of youth but wasn't too hooked because I'm not bromance fan(not that I'm homophobic),so I'm not into Dashing Youth.
Lol its just for you bro for us dashing youth is far more better.
tbh, imo the mc of dashing youth needs to be a more silly, happy go lucky character before the turns of events change him, and when he's drunk I need more sparks from him aside from the effects that makes him look much stronger.
I have Viki.. They often lag in bringing good cdramas.😢 I would like to see Tang Dynasty.
As for the CPs... is it bad that the donghua's computer animated characters had more chemistry than the live action series?

Maybe it's not your cup of tea. It's nothing wrong not being able to get into a drama. It happens to me all the time.

@@mlb2536 thank you for your kind understanding, maybe i’ll watch season 1 again. 😆
for me, i’d watch any hou minghou in period drama. hehe❤
but if Tang Dynasty IP really cover the Princess Taiping's showdown, won't it get heavily censored?
Thank you for talking about the historical side ... I was and will read about it. Now I am clearer about the history 👍
Hope the new Douluo Dalu doesn't end up the same way 😔
Can we watch STTD2? I'm getting fed up of dramas that get yanked half way through, or lose subs 3 episodes before the end?
As someone who randomly binged Blood of Youth a few weekends ago, I tried Dashing Youth, and it is quite boring. And as Avenue X said the similar format makes the show suffer from comparison and does not hold up. I quit the show after 6 episodes.
Dashing Youth lacks the oomph of "Blood of youth". It seems there is no sincerity behind that production. Or is it the lack of chemistry between the leads ? Emotionally not feeling the connection.
Last but not the least I cannot get into Hou Ming Hao
It seems that the only emotion he shows is smiling subtly. He seems always smiles at all occasions.
Can someone explain what is the story about "Journey to the West" which appears in chinese dramas and movies quite often?
gotchu: 西行 journey westward, pays its origins from the great chinese classical novel Journey To The West (published in 1500s).
