  • How to install the aftermarket Autoease Power Tailgate Retrofit on a 2021 Kia Telluride
    Link to installation kit: www.autoease.com/product/lift...
    Additional Notes:
    - Foot Sensor Battery 12v+ (Fused) wire (yellow) goes to a fuse slot in the fuse box that always reads 12v+, even when the car is off. (This powers the foot sensor)
    - Foot Sensor Accessory 12v+ (Fused) wire (red) goes to a fuse slot in the fuse box that only reads 12v+ when the car is on. (This is a safety feature that prevents the tailgate from opening while the car is running/driving).

    I like how it gently closes unlike some of the other aftermarket ones.

    Thank you for the video. What is the length of the power strut poles? Do you only get power and unlock signal from the car?

    I installed the autoease power lift gate kit on my 2021 Kia Sedona. Took me a solid 6 hours! I'm very handy and it was still a lot of work! So everything works except for the key fob. The front interior button, rear interior button, and outside gate button work, but the key fob does not work. I’ve tried the long press on the trunk button, as well as the 3 clicks on unlock, did not work.
    I hardwired the yellow trigger wire to the "white" OEM trigger wire, which was stated in the instructions as the correct wire to tap into, although i'm thinking it MAY NOT be the right one. I also tried to use the OBD port adapter, still did not work. I also tried different fuse locations and it did not work. I looked through the settings on the dash board and there’s no option for “power tailgate”.
    Any idea what else I can do. Firmware update? I've contacted the company, but they are lagging on the reply.
    Another issue, the door pops when it unlocks. It seems the door is trying to open before it unlatches, there is some force to it opening. Any thoughts on how to fix this? It closes softly, and quietly. Also, I’ve tried both OEM latch, and the latch Autoease supplied and it’s the same issue.

    Hi I installed this in my Toyota CHR, it works fine but whilst I am driving the tailgate suddenly starts beeping and it opens to quarter position, then i have to turn off by pressing switch. Any advise would be most helpful.

    Hi. . .I have a 2011 Subaru outback that I would like to install a power tailgate gate on but I don't have the expertise to do it myself (I'm a 77 year old Nana !). The dealership is not interested in helping. Where would I go to get assistance?

    Hello, nice work. Is it necessary to fix the vacuuming traction motor? Will it be enough to leave it behind a plastic cover?

      If you're referring to the latch motor that is circled @ 0:44, I don't think so. I did not fix or attach it to anything. The plastic cover held it in place from what I could tell.

    I have this for a 2022 Telluride, I had issue finding the wire to hook up for the remote open of the tailgate. They said look for a 12v positive pulse signal, but I've not been able to find it. Any suggestions?

      @bwell1986  Год назад

      At about 10:15 shows how to find the unlock wire which is what the unit uses to trigger a trunk open (from pressing unlock 3x). But if you're talking about getting the trunk button on the key fob to work, afaik it's not possible (with this kit and a 2021 telluride).

      @@bwell1986 yeah, I know the trunk button won't work, the notes and customer support said I needed a 12v positive pulse signal for the unlock wire, I just could not find a 12v positive pulse signal, I think I originally hooked into the same wire you did but it still didn't work, I'll have to try again, it's possible the yellow wire got damaged while i was pulling it also... How did you connect the foot sensor power wires at the fuse box. Did you just locate the right voltage wires and t tapped Into those wires or purchased another type of connector?

    • @bwell1986
      @bwell1986  Год назад +1

      @ryan jag I used a fuse tap. The optional foot sensor package included one, but it was the wrong size for my car which uses 'micro2' (the fuse tap in the package was a 'mini'). I bought the right sized one (micro2) at autozone: www.autozone.com/electrical-and-lighting/fuse-and-accessories/p/bussmann-circuit-fuse-tap/547344_0_0

    Does the green trigger wire for the foot switch HAVE to be wired to the same OEM wire that you used? Can I connect it to the same yellow trigger wire that is connected to the main wire harness? I've already installed everything, and put it all back together. Everything works except for keyfob. The issue I am having now is, key fob trunk button not working, and the foot switch has not been installed, still debating if its needed. I'm waiting to figure out which trigger wire to connect it to...hopefully my question makes sense. Really appreciate the time you spent on this!

      Is the trunk not opening when you press the trunk button on the keyfob? Or is the trunk not opening when you press the unlock button on the keyfob 3 times?

    • @TimSmith-db1iu
      @TimSmith-db1iu 10 месяцев назад

      @@bwell1986 i was able to get the keyfob to work with the help of autoease. the guy actually facetimed me lol. the issue is, the long press on the trunk button wouldn't open it, you have to do 3 "slowish" clicks on the unlock button. it takes a few tries to get the rhythm right. regarding the foot sensor, i tapped into the trigger wire for the OEM external trunk button, the button that is right above the license plate. you just tap into that, run constant 12v, acc, and ground, and the switch will work. i did notice a major flaw in the system which is, if youre driving and you push the interior trunk button that the company supplies, the trunk WILL open in the middle of drive. i'm assuming that doesnt happen with a factory installed power lift gate, but i could be wrong.

    • @bwell1986
      @bwell1986  10 месяцев назад

      @@TimSmith-db1iu ah yes in terms of the fob buttons, I got the same results. From what I understand, in order to get the trunk button on the key fob to work, auto ease would have had to do a lot more work integrating into the can-bus system of the car.

    • @TimSmith-db1iu
      @TimSmith-db1iu 10 месяцев назад

      @@bwell1986 seems like it would be an easy fix because when i do a long press on the trunk button on the keyfob, the car responds to it with 2 flashes of the rear tail lights. that signal has to be going somewhere. have you had any issues with the kit? does your auto pintch feature work on close AND open, or just close? i've had to have several custom firmware updates. it's getting old tbh. i ended up revising most of their manual for them, and they refunded me some money for it.

      @bwell1986  10 месяцев назад

      @@TimSmith-db1iu I had the same thought but didn't want to tinker too much and screw something up trying to get the trunk fob button to work. Only issue is the foot sensor is more sensitive than I'd like. It gets accidentally triggered all the time when standing behind the car with the trunk open (while grabbing stuff out of the back of the car). I think I need to move the foot sensor just a bit further towards the front of the car.
