  • In this video we sew very simple but beautiful patchwork blocks from squares, which when combined can create several variations of the top side.
Cut: 8 squares of different colors measuring 4*4 inches.
    Strips are 1-1/2 inches wide.

There are few teachers on RUclips who show beginners how to sew a quilt block without talking at least half a lesson before showing us how. These teachers are the best for me and you are one of them. I appreciate it very much. The music is beautiful also. English is not my language, 😇I hope it makes sense.❤💯

Thank you for your kind words! To make my quilting tutorials clear to more viewers, that's why I don't say anything. I hope that everything is clear from the video. Not everyone speaks and understands English! And I too. I know English bad.❤️

Well, maybe that’s good for you but the average beginner needs a lot more information than what this video gives.

Looks lovely, however , because of the method used by sewing on the reverse and then cutting along each diagonal etc , it's not allowing a quarter inch allowance,so ultimately the points of the diamonds are being cut off at each outer edge by the time the block is finished....if that make sense🤔

I think that's what I did. Although I love to sew and break the rules! After all, in the end nothing terrible happened, but the result was a beautiful patchwork block!❤️

@@themelodyofsewing6369 yes..as I commented....it is a lovely block but didn't know if you had picked upon the fact that your be points were cut off.
The first quilt I made included hour glass triangles, but it has only been recently that ,through my sewing experiences that I have only just noticed that I had cut off some of the points.
As you said you are open to comments so as to improve your quilting ,I thought I would just point it out .... sorry if it caused offence❤️

Ladies, it’s OK to cut off points if making something different!!! I’m pretty anal retentive but if I did thais kind of sewing it’s just fine! Makes a beautiful quilt - but also not good for entering quilt shows if that’s what you do! I don’t and never will - yes, I prefer precision and it’s hard to “let go” but I think I’d like to give this method a try!

    • @dcwatashi

Totally agree however, this is for beginners and in order to enter a quilt show I don’t think the beginners qualify for entering a quilt show

Jenny Doan has a video for the block called the Exploding Block and they loose there corners. Fun to do and the corners don’t always need to be part of this method.

There are a lot of really interesting ideas that you have here but since your video title states the word beginners you’re not doing them any justice because you’re not mentioning what type of thread you’re using
    what stitch length you’re using
or even what needle you’re using. Don’t assume that beginners know all of this because they don’t.
And maybe mention that the fabric really needs to be ironed 100% maybe adding some spray starch. Beginners don’t know this either.
