Beautiful print, definitely worth the extra work to get it right :) I probably don't have your instincts or innate knowledge of how fiber paper darkens as it dries, so I usually dry my test strips using a hair dryer. It takes like a minute or two max and I seem to get representative results! I heard some people (including apparently Ansel) like to use a microwave, but I never tried that
Thank you ❤️! I actually just heard about that! I was watching a RUclips video on Ansel Adams and he mentioned the use of a microwave 🤯. I would have never thought of that. Pretty cool you use a hair dryer. I might do that in the future.
I love watching your Channel. I did all the same things you are doing, but I did them years ago before digital. Watching you doing them now is a joy. Suggestion: I notice that you don’t use the camera strap when hand-holding your Rolleiflex. Greater stability can be achieved by placing an appropriately adjusted strap around your neck, thus allowing the pull-of-gravity to help stabilize the camera, OR… better yet, to allow you to create a bit of stabilizing tension by pulling on the strap.
Years ago I started hand holding my camera and just wrapping the strap around my wrist. I can’t remember why I started doing that. But thank you for the tip. I appreciate it! I’ll keep in mind 🌸.
Try using the newest ilford MG RC paper for proofing it’s supposed to have same exposure as FB and is cheaper and faster to proof .Nice to see the younger generation carrying on the darkroom👍
@filmphotovm thank you for the response! What do you like about FB over RC? Is it the feel of the final print, or how the prints look, etc? I've only tried pearl RC and have loved it. This semester is my first time trying FB, I don't remember if it's gloss or matte, but at first I disliked it because it takes longer to wash and dry 😅
I think you're being too critical. It's a lovely image, and an excellent print. Love your honesty, nothing fake or over produced. I was thinking if the image is a little soft you could just make a smaller print.
I normally do split grading which I love. But that’s with my beseler. And unfortunately I still haven’t been able to get a working light bulb for it. So when I get it working again I’ll go back to doing split grading.
Always enjoy hearing your thoughts process and printing choices. Beautiful print!
Thanks so much! 🌸
Beautiful portrait, excellent print. I really enjoy watching your videos.
Thank you! That makes me really happy 🦋.

You're never wasting paper cause it's all practice and learning 🥳
Agree. I need to remind myself of that. Thank you 🌸.

That’s awesome! I’ll check out that paper. Many thanks!
Great videos!
Thanks! 🌸
Very beautiful photograph 👍 what type of film did you use? Cheers! 🥂
Thank you 🌸! I used Ilford delta 100 pro 🎞️.
Lovely video!
Thank you! 🦋
Wonderful portrait, would you be interested in selling the full tear sheet? And BTW your mother is beautiful!
Thanks! Are you interested in the test trip or the other half of photo?
Not sure if you've ever mentioned it before on your videos, but what paper do you prefer? Fiber based or Resin coated???
I LOVE glossy FB paper! I use only FB for my final prints and RC for contact prints. Although I did just use RC paper for my tiny print project.
@filmphotovm thank you for the response!

Thank you! That’s so kind. Agree, I can be too picky 🥲.
have you considered split grading?

Each print you make is a lesson for the next one and gains experience points. Treat the cost as a reasonable price for your education.
Agree! I need to remind myself of that. Thank you 🌸.
It’s ok to use paper, it’s not wasteful:-)
It’s going to be my mantra from now on 🌸.
