Having grown up on Michael Lemmo's guitar of the day segments the next generation of guitarists will think a dry tone is revolutionary, still I could listen to the man play all day. Excellent as always.
Mike! Throw us some "Stranglehold" some time! A guitar like that is screaming for it! P.S. Five Watt World has an amazing video on firebirds for anyone interested!
What a sound u get Michael. What sounds u can't get from any guitar ain't worth nothing. Tremendous. Thnx as always plus Jen and storyline from Brandon
More specs; 7 ply mahogany/walnut (MWMWMWM) neck through construction. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. Nitro finish. The firebird pickup is not a "mini humbucker", like what's found on a Les Paul deluxe, for example. A humbucker has a single shared magnet underneath the pickup with steel pole pieces and screws on either side. A Firebird pickup has 2 "blade type" magnets with the copper wire wound around them instead replacing the pole pieces and the single magnet underneath. More like 2 single coils in a common mount. They sound completely different. Your tone was great on this. Never sounded better.
pretty cool guitar , reminds me of Rossington Collins , Johnny Winter and Rick Derringer , the single humbucker in the bridge makes for a twangy bright sound kind of a southern rock jangle but basic straight up rock n roll , great sound , very sweet , thanks guys.
Sometimes I feel like these single pickup guitars are pulling some sort of rope-a-dope move. They're supposed to be these "lower end," or sometimes student models, or whatever, but they always seem to deliver the noise! Maybe they save the best pickups for these guitars knowing they only have one chance at greatness, or something.😵😛😲😉
Looks like the one Clapton played with Cream when I saw them in Chicago in 1968 It's also nice to see a Norman's video without that geek who was hired by Gibson to talk out of his ass.
Dude you are a freakin wizard. That hybrid picking style is awesome, I'd pay for someone just to show me that. You probably already have a band but someone needs to get you on the radio and make music rock again.
Absolutely love the channel! Love all these historic axes! I would really like to see ur asking price for each piece in the video. Would help really grasp the significance of each one. Thanks for the content! Keep it coming!
Lemmo needs to be writing, performing, and touring (obviously post scamdemic). He’s not a historian, he’s an artist. I hope he gets the break he deserves.
I think the Firebird was in a completely different price range than the Jazzmaster. It was actually a very expensive guitar. Especially for a solid body.
@@Relayer6a Not sure how much the Firebirds went for, but Jazzmasters were the second priciest Fenders next to the Jaguar which cost more than any other Fender. The irony nowadays, is that the less expensive Strats are the most valuable Fenders of that era...not the Jags or Jazzmasters.
@@sixbladeknife44 I can't find the original retail on the Firebird wiki. I just remember it being said that because of its construction and hardware it was expensive. That really hurt its sales at the time. Strats are cheap because they are cheap to build. Leo's original thinking was it would be cheaper just to replace the neck than have a refret job done. Townsend switched to Fenders because they could be repaired more easily after he smashed them. LOL Vintage ones have become expensive because of who played them.
I saw Clapton play a Firebird I through 2 Marshall stacks at a small club in Chicago in 1968 just before Cream broke up. Life changing!
two full stack in a club gig 😄 hell yeah to the good ol days😂
Hi from France, don't forget the great Allen Collins !!!!!

Thank you !!!

Layers of awesomeness!
Thanks again. The guitars are always amazing, but Michael’s playing is fantastic.
So many different guitars sound good through that Fender Twin!
That guitar sounded FUN!
that's a rock machine right there!
Hell yeah it is! Haha
Great playing, Lemmo.
I love guitars that are, 'possessed' .... they just make you an even better player.
And he is back! I missed you mr. Lemmo, Yesterday felt empty without you :)
Seconded. He's an absolutely breathtaking player.
@@Scratch7 really is.

An excellent guitar for an excellent guitarist. Mind is officially blown
is that just the twin reverb overdrive?? sounds amazing
WHOOOOOOOOOOOO boi that Firebird sounds like a goddamn warrior
I just love Firebirds 😍😍
Sounds rockin!!!
Lemmo knows something we don't when it comes to playing
Perfect way to describe his playing, I wish I could get some lessons
Something just looks right with Lemmo and a Firebird, maybe it’s the Jazzmaster connection, but he really makes that Firebird soar!
Beautiful Guitar!!
Most brutal rock machine ever! ❤️ my favorite ever! (I have one…)
Very nice performance. Thanks for sharing.
You forgot the most crucial detail it may go without saying it’s a neck through body!!!
Erik Van Ness
CORRECTAMUNDO!!
Yep, and one of the first. I believe only a Ric bass was built like that then.

I BOUGHT THAT 81 4001 THAT AGNESI DID ON GOTD
@@GuitarlosCarlos Thanks for the reply.
Lucky so and so :)
Yes Yes Yes..and the Gritchy Grassiness of this Firebird is just Groovy...!!😁Cheers Mate !💂
My killer guitar would be a Firebird V, but in a pinch, I would take this. Wish I could afford it.
Michael Lemmo can really play , Love his technique
One of Kalamazoos' finest, single pickup a million voices all at your fingertips. Great display Mr. Emmo, thanks!
GOOD VIBE'S.

Thats a beautiful slab of guitar! I love firebirds
Seemed to have a wider tonal range than that last 'bird. I much prefer it with the tone rolled way back. Nice playing, as usual.
The guitar is a 1 pickup wonder 👍
Now that was badass.

Lemmo your killing it as usual. Great playing on a Great guitar, keep them coming!
That was killer rock and roll, Mike dude.
hypnotic playin 💆🏼♂️
Cream's' Guitar !!
This would be the perfect companion to my ‘64 Thunderbird!
Ohhh yes, that timing
Nice playing with this one!
Do a Rickenbacker 325 for December 8th of this year for John Lennon
Either that or an Epiphone Casino.
It’s got them crunchy sounds 👌
That's one amazing guitar. Holy tone batman. It would look even better next to my 61 Les Paul jr
Brian Jones played a firebird if I’m not mistaken?
Yes. A Reverse Firebird VII and a Non-Reverse Firebird III & VII
BACK IN 1964
@@GuitarlosCarlos both keith and Brian got VII's. This is a good watch ruclips.net/video/iZGPASOfTg0/видео.html
Reminds me of Eric Clapton’s firebird 1 those things rip great playing as usual!
Shred it Lemmo!

Haha are we the George Foreman in this equation?
It’s just that if you punch one hole instead of two, the guitar body resonates better
The vintage juniors are just killer guitars with mojo pouring out of them. This firebird is no exception. Mojo for days
That’s some saucy playing there Lemmo
Looks like the one Clapton played with Cream when I saw them in Chicago in 1968
It's also nice to see a Norman's video without that geek who was hired by Gibson to talk out of his ass.
Stephen stills played one like this
The soloing was very Cream-era Clapton inspired.
I have a 1962 Firebird signed by Johnny Winter signature
Well played sir

That was insane
What is the chord progression he’s playing from
Now that is a dream guitar! Awesome sound! However! Gotta do a Maton!
well done Lemmo!
You guys should try to get Jon Foreman or Drew Shirley over there sometime!
Rock and roll' hoocikoo'

I usually head over to Reverb and check the prices of similar models and year
@@IrishBog for sure! Would save me the time of doing it because I do the same thing! Lol
Shout out to mike, his fender commercial in the mopop video for Alice In Chains was rad
Does anyone know what Lemmo is using for the overdriven sounds here?
My grail guitar :’)
You should get one of those. That guitar looks good on you.
i think slash will be buying this one
Eric Clapton (cream) guitar , cool look
Is the neck and cardstock turned upside down or is that the way they were made
Hey. Your scaring me Lemmo. Is that your future replacement????🥺
Thought the same

Spec that out Michael Lemo = The Jam Out Mode ,,,
I want to see lemmo demonstrate a fender player series lead 3
The Firebird was designed by famed automotive designer Ray Dietrich.
"The Gibson Firebird: A Short History" is a great RUclips video on the Five Watt World channel.
I have a red 1964 Firebird VII.
Is Mr. Michael Lemmo getting ready to hand 🤚 over the reins??? No I Did’unt!!! Fender Calling???🤚🤘🏼😂
Explorer please. Much respect from Azerbaijan 🇦🇿
Nice rig......
👍👍
That thing sounds awesome man, properly dirty man lol
If my kid made a noise like that he'd get a slap 😂
Spec out multi looping Spec overlay how wonderful multi-layers
I might be weird but my favorite Firebird is a Firebird I.
Mine too, just because of clapton’s firebird!
Is there a record for looper layers on GOTD? Makes you forget this is one guy.
Gosh that sounds mean
That thing sounds bitchin!
You guys should do the new hummingbird twelve string by epiphone
Better bone up on your Gibson history Lemmo he's after your gig! Do I sense a crossroads battle coming? You'll chrush him w/ the looper.
Firebird flying v les paul strat rock guitars
Allen Collins ...
I think you’ve all been in the closet since 1964😂All jokes aside what a killer guitar and awesome playing by Lemmo as always👍👏
Someone finna write a mean U2 riff on this one
I own a firebird 0
can I have it?
Indagive? Lol. Indicative Brandon. Good job on the specs none the less. Now get a guitar and join Lemmo on the floor ☺
I want a mask! How much??
