Yeah, all democracies start by killing people for no reason. I see no reason why the Red Terror wouldn't have continued if the Reds had won. Heck, they even killed each other later after some escaped to the USSR. Google "Kuusinen Club Incident".
+MsTiK whole "Red Terror" was overblown. After the civil war, families and children of those who fought on the reds side were demonised and mistreated for decades for being "Russian lovers"... Mostly the war was about poor people and rich people: Reds, mostly poor, Finnish speakers, wanted equality, while whites were mostly better off financially, spoke Swedish and wanted a class system with royalty of their own.
See I spoke mostly: my own great great uncle was Swedish speaker and came from wealthy family, but decided to fight on the Reds side: after he died, rest of the family had to fake not to have known him, as association with lost red side seriously harmed your chances in advancing in life.
+Sienisota It doesn't change the fact that Reds tried to overthrow the government of probably the most democratic country in the world where ALL adults had the right to vote. I really don't see how they would have made the country more democratic by ignoring the will of the majority. The revolutionaries were the minority even among workers, just like in Russia, and everyone know what happened there. I know that you won't get equality by murdering innocent people.
And my grandfather was working for the railways at the time, just like he had since he was 13, so he certainly wasn't rich nor Swedish speaking but he still didn't join the Reds.

I think there rest of us european countries can declare Finland as the winning second country. I have not laughed that hard in a long time. I love you. You guys are great. Finland is the best second country. It's true. Don't believe any fake news that says otherwise.
Did you see the sequel? The so-called Summit in July 2018. Now that one was funny. (It was understood to be a fiasco. So Finland focused on the media event for the 1400+ reporters, just for tourism or whatever. Prez Niinisto got a small win from both guests, on the black carbon issue for the Arctic Council. Needless to say, it wasn't reported anywhere. So it was funny watching the whole brouhaha.)
