Her mum was, for a time, the #1 ranked woman in the world, her dad was the Spanish champion five times. The two of them are the first chess couple where both partners held the title of grandmaster.
And even so, their daughter is very far from ever becoming a GM. That is completely irrelevant though, she makes way more money with her chess content than her parents ever had.

There is no “male” chess, only open chess and women chess.

@@nullfield1126 I believe you may be confusing the International Master (IM) and Grandmaster (GM) titles. Both of Anna's parents are Grandmasters. Her dad became a GM in 1978 and her mom in 1992. They were both International Masters before they became Grandmasters.
Anna holds the title of Woman FIDE Master (WFM) since 2018.
Good stats with approximately 600 million people playing chess in the world it means only one GM out of every half a million players as of October 2023 there are an active 1800 active GMs in the world 1772 men and 41 women of course that stat has changed since we are now in 2024 Sources ( Google )

And your comment is strange, because generally speaking it's the people who are only kind of good at things who are insecure and lack humility. Anna is humble for precisely the opposite reason you think. If you watched her chess videos you would realize that she's a very good chess player. Or maybe you're actually a grandmaster and can look down on her?

I can relate to an extent. My parents are musician, and every once in awhile i just talked to them, and they said "you're talking so flat, mind to clear your throat". And then i talked in tritone and they freak out.

It's not that she can't. But whe would need to do a lot of changes in her life for that.
She obviously has her parents support and many friends and contacts in the sport.
But she would need to undergo some sould crushing training to get to GM at her age.
It's like Levi from Gotham Chess. He wants to become a GM, but he would need to solely devote himself to that goal which he can't do since he does chess streaming as a living.

Are men and women’s chess separate categories?
Yes and no, there's no mens category, theres just "open" in which everyone plays and then there's "women" a separate category just for women with their own easier titles. Women still can get the normal harder titles and play in the normal games, they just have an extra set, that they can also get. But don't get the wrong picture, those titles are still very impressive and something only a small fraction of players achieve. Also they aren't completely separated, no one plays just in "women" they all play regular chess but sometimes have extra tournaments and extra rankings.

@@astra3202 What is sexist about it? You don't have to accept the title. And if you are strong enough you can get the regular ones. Its the perfect solution: It allows women to still be able to play professionally and yet doesn't stop them from competing without restrictions against everyone.

She started playing at age 3 but still not a GM .She is very lucky that her parents are chess players. That is not always the case for others.

Contrary to popular belief, not every person who plays chess strives to be a GM. And even if they had that as a goal at some point, some realize it is unattainable. Anna has had far more success making chess her career thanks to her streaming and RUclips pages than even some top GMs.
Her mom is not only grandmaster. She's the legend.
