If there is a shortage of certified teachers then why is hisd now letting go of certified and experienced teachers at multiple schools?? Multiple incidents of this occurring at various schools in the district. Why is the media not covering this???

I’m Teacher apprentices are not helping out in classrooms every day because the NES system doesn’t hire subs, so when a teacher is sick an apprentice covers their classes. It’s different teachers absent every day. They are also used as hall monitors to stop students from entering or exiting testing areas. We have had testing almost every day this semester. I’ve only been in my classroom 12 days this semester because they like using my classroom for testing. Apprentices aren’t legally able to proctor tests, or even enter the testing rooms, so they sit at a desk in the hall for hours everyday on their phones.

Let's not pretend they are not cutting certified teachers in their job cuts. Also schools need to be transparent and let parents know when their child's teacher is not certified. Not the other way around. They are probably firing certified teachers so they won't get retirement benefits and so they won't have anyone challenge the lesson plans that are not up to par. How would a college student know what lesson plans are up to par?
