My dad bought the record by Mac in 1953--I was 9, called "Remembering". He would put it on auto play--for 2 or 3 hours at a time, still sounds good to me 70 years later.
One of my GREAT MEMORIES was meeting the MACMAN in Sydney N.S. about 35 yrs. ago. It was an "Outdoor Show" on the back of a Flatbed truck. After I waited out side the Trailer { Dressing Room } Mac stepped out and flashed a huge smile and stuck out His hand. Nearly WET MY PANTS. I have always admired His Super Clear voice. He signed my cap that I was wearing . STILL HAVE IT......................! R.I.P. MR. Wiseman
I don’t know how I missed Mac in my country music journey through life. Born in 61’ I thought grandparents gave me a great respect for Lester/earl but missed Mac. It’s why I love Y/T.
Been listenin to Mac for a longgg time. The only other guy I heard who could compare.,..was Dave Dykeman., I love them both. May God Bless them Both, See YAH on the flip side my brothers

I can share a little about this video. It was a show at Madison Square Garden in New York City. It was a television special sponsored by the Stetson Hat Company. i don't think it ever aired, but I'm not really sure. I never saw it anyway. This in an early version of the Johnson Mountain Boys with Dudley Connell-guitar, Eddie Stubbs-fiddle, Richard Underwood-banjo, David McLaughlin-mandolin, & Larry Robbins-bass. My guess, from the suits, would be the very early 1980's.
Thanks Dudley. Because of the information you provided, we know this was from a performance at MSG called "Hats Off To Country Music" on 24 Oct 1981. The performers were Alabama, Charlie Pride, Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers Band, Janie Fricke, Terri Gibbs, Johnny Rodriguez, Mac Wiseman, Earl Thomas Conley and the Pridesmen, the Tennessee Express, and the Johnson Mountain Boys (who were with Mac in this clip.) A 60 minute TV show was produced from the concert and was aired on TNN at least in April 1986.
And so after that only being 11 years old I decided I was going to be a songwriter so I started I was 14 years old I still been writing songs all these years every kind you can think of and they're all good LOL
Wow so have I been doing also even was 14 years old and continue to write songs any kind..kid's in Sunday school class..any..sad funny, love songs, country style etc. Love it!
I see Richard Underwood on banjo, Eddie Stubbs on fiddle and Dave McLaughlin on mandolin. Probably the old Johnson Mtn. boys!! Mac can git the job done!!
It was always big here in Ireland, before we ever heard jukeboxes, it was a great fav, round the local sing songs, all joined in the refrain, while one sang the verses, it sure lengthened the song
Since the world has changed for the worst then that means country music has also changed for the worst..Merle Haggard, George Jones,Conway Twitty,Hank Williams,Presley and all the other stars had to go--Replacing them with this crap they call country music-.My oh my-Nashville is a bunch of crap now-Rap Crap has also gotten into country music-Its all over now-Then let it be over.
