If the sound guy just gets the dry signal, the unit is only for monitoring. Both wet and dry need to go to front of house, so he can blend them in the PA.

No, the point I was making is that the sound person would take both. So they have the best of both worlds.

I own a discontinued VoiceLive Touch 2 by TC Helicon, the one you could clamp on to a stand. I was looking for a unit to replace it since the MIDI PORT stopped working and found out they had discontinued the product. I had high hopes for this Boss pedal but it is so far back behind the quality and technology that the TC helicon has that I ended up returning it as soon as I opened it.
What really got me was the delay. You cannot manipulate the timing of it let alone the trail. I uses it for vocal delay hits live and once you release the footswitch on the delay it cuts of the tail abruptly. After I realized this I didn't even bother to keep digging into it.
Still a pretty big open market for quality vocal processors...

Have you tried the vibrato effect? For people that can't sing I wondered if it actually works.

Thanks for the review. I have just bought one of these and will use it mainly for home practicing busking and harmonica. The price suited me at the time. It has a very clear display and is pretty well set out for someone to learn on. I don't think your heart was really in this review as you have already learned the TC Helicon and hadn't learned this one. I bought a power supply on Amazon for less than a tenner the boss one was about 30 quid There are 99 memory slots. There is a very good online manual from boss which you can download. I havn't had it long enough to say how good it is but the more i look into the settings the more i realize it can do.Seems a bit like a toy at first glances but has some depth to it's use....

Fair comment. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the TC Helicon Extreme. My slight negativity on this review stems from the fact i've used and owned most of the units on the market. Aside from it's nice small footprint and clear screen, there was nothing on this Boss pedal unit which wowed me. Admittedly, the reverbs do sound very nice.

Great video. What's the preamp like, compared to raw mic DI? Does the VE-22 colour the voice well? I had the TC too, I agree, it's overkill.

With no effects at all, the pre amp just sounded slightly 'gainy' if that makes sense. What I would say is that the reverbs and effects are very nice on this unit. Certainly comparable to the TC.

Did you manage to get a setting for Autotune? Seems this unit at the current firmware does not have this capability

    • @palewizardrecords4734
      @palewizardrecords4734  2 месяца назад

Hi. Yes, this does have autotune and to be fair it's pretty solid. But as stated in the review, you'll need to manually set the key

@@palewizardrecords4734 Been trying for weeks now.. Maybe you can help with some settings info? It has some capability but I cannot seem to set it to the same type like TPAIN like in the Ve-20

@@MrEagleeye58 Not being a fan of extreme use of Auto-Tune, I can't help you on this one. From what little i know of T-Pain.... I would assume most of the effect is more of a studio effect rather than a live effect. Sounds like a lot of pitch correction to me rather than Auto Tune. You might be better off with a stand alone auto tune unit.

HI Ok someone just helped to get it going
      1. Select U41 Pitch correct
      2. Double press effect
      3. Change scale to KEY
      4. Change speed to 10, mode to electric
      5. Formant to +23 at least and shift
      5. change the key - etc

From what i can hear on RUclips the reverb algorithm on VE 22 is better then VE 500.

You are giving a review on a unit that you just discovered while doing the review that you can. change effects via not only on the foot pedal but on the top knobs too (MIN 10). Sorry that discredits you...that means you really have not used this device at all! So why do a review when you have not even flipped two page 2! NO CREDIT FOR YOU SIR!
