DAMN this songs slaps! I mean for me it gets better and better each listen! And 3:40 kinda reminds me of the breakdown in Holy Roller. "And when I die, you won't pray for me"
I disagree but respect your take. You can't love everything and we appreciate your honest feelings. For myself I love the goovy riff. I think think this one will be lots of fun live; I can see the circle pits already.
I'm really glad that Spiritbox are coming back to their roots. I fell in love with the ghostcore, that's what I call their music. You can hear those Belcarra, Bleach Bath influences, Mara Effect etc. and I'm all here for it. I think Ultraviolet and The Void along with Rotoscope is some of their best work when it comes to newer titles.
Spookycore or creepycore. The haunting, unsettling screeching during the breakdown. I love their OG creepycore songs from the self titled EP too. Love it so much. Belcarra is so good
Angel Eyes is my favorite heavy 0-clean vocal song. And Jaded is my favorite Spiritbox song ever. Such music from this band

You’re crazy lol. This one and Too Close/Too Late are my favorites from the EP. I like it a lot more as a heavy song than Cellar Door (which is also great) because it’s just pissed lol. I do agree the breakdown was not the best…it was fine but Cellar Door definitely wins there. But man those verse/chorus riffs are tasty and Courtney…is Courtney.
I dont know what it is with reactors on these recent tracks. Both those tracks are fantastic; they are some of the best Spiritbox has put out. There doesn't seem to be any consensus on what good Spiritbox music sounds like

Like me, for example, I don't like Invent Animate at all, like I don't listen to them, when others are drooling over them including Bog. So, it's pretty much all subjective, and that's all right.

Jaded and Ultraviolet are almost equally incredible imo, but I’m gonna go with Ultraviolet right now. This whole EP is great though.
That chorus riff is giving me some serious early Volumes/ATB vibes. Big fan of this one.

Imo this is way stronger sound wise than their more recent softer songs. They are good, but its like with other bands, you discover this heavy ass band and then they go somewhere different.
I'm glad they still doe songs like this, cellar door etc. On the contrast, I really can't get to like the new silent planet album. So different is taste haha
I'm with you, and I have to listen to this one a few more times but like you said nothing stands out too much, I love the instrumentals, but I felt like this song needed a little bit more variation, even on vocals. This is my least fav track on the EP, but who knows maybe it grows on me, I feel like the melodic tracks evolved way more than the heavy ones on this EP.

For me, Angel Eyes and Too Close/Too Late are tied at the top. But altogether this EP goes hard.
Jaded and Ultraviolet are my 2 favorites as of now. This song seems to be a bit of a grower. I get Silk in the String vibes from it. You may like it more after a few listens
Ultraviolet and Cellar Door are my standouts. The entire EP is fantastic but I listen to those two over and over.
Definitely Ultraviolet and honestly the runner up is The Void. Spiritbox does melodic songs so well, most of my favorites are some of their more chill songs like Blessed Be and Secret Garden
I wasn’t sold on this track either. Nothing I really dislike about it, it just didn’t hit for me. Too Close / Too Late is probably my favorite.

Agree to a point. I enjoyed it but it kinda felt like a repeat of Holy Roller (cool bouncy riff, electronic drums). I won't skip it on a full EP listen but it's the only one that didn't get me in any major way.

I'm with you, I couldn't connect with this track as much as I liked the instrumental, It feels like it needs something more interesting for me to catch me but yeah mb I just need to listen to this one a couple times more to be sure and then my opinion could change.
My favorite of the EP definitely it has to be "Ultraviolet" that one it's such gorgeous 💜

I totally get where you're coming from Bog, it's almost as if you're allowed to have an individual opinion but you aren't allowed to share it with your audience because of the backlash you may get because you aren't simping to the same extent as everyone else over this band.
Not every person will love every song to the same extent as everyone else.
Art is, at the end of the day, entirely subjective.

I mean, you gotta hear it all together. Its a great song Imo. Not my fav because that belongs to ultraviolet. But theyve got something for everyone on this EP.
imo this is just a better version of Cellar Door
I'm not a huge spiritbox fan other than a couple songs, but this is easily the best song on the ep for me. I have always preferred their heavy songs so this was definitely up my alley.

3) Too Close / Too Late (probably my favourite of their softer songs that I've heard)
4) Jaded
5) Ultraviolet (kinda boring)
6) The Void (really rather boring song)
I dig this song and the EP in general, but it definitely doesn't hit for me on the same level that Rule of Nines and Blessed Be did.
I feel like those songs were really exceptional examples of balancing the aggression from harsh vocals and that ethereal feeling you get from the clean vocals, which I feel wasn't as emphasized in this EP in favor of making the songs lean more in one direction (heavier tracks like Cellar Door) or the other (lighter ones like Ultraviolet).
I definitely agree. This track doesn't do it for me. Seems filler almost. Like it's heavy/punchy but not as memorable idk. The other tracks have their own feel and texture. I def agreed with you on liking The Void a lot. Most react creators didn't think it was special, but man it has that highspeed race-like pace with an extemely catchy chorus and tech driven beat that feels satisfying. For me it's gotta be Jaded tho. Absolutely masterful song. Then Cellar Door, The Void, etc.
This one hasn't caught me either. It's heavy but it seems shallow to me. Just zeroes and chug, not a lot of variation. The breakdown was underwhelming. (I'm not a hater, Spiritbox is one of my most played artists)
Cellar Door and Jaded better, but I like the atmosphere of this one. Ultraviolet not my favorite, though cool music video.

This one is actually ranked pretty low for me to be honest. The structure just feels too off for me. Cellar Door is still my number 1
I agree with you my dude. I felt the song lacked dinamism. Like, I love heavy songs with no cleans (e.g. Holly Roller), but this one felt monotone. Overall, loved the EP, hope Spiritbox keep doing their thing giving as great music to listen to.
Angel Eyes felt heavy just for the sake of it to me, but maybe I'm jaded from all the djentcore stuff. Bring back 2000s metalcore I say (like War of Ages).
You might enjoy Dying Wish definitely on the heavier side but their new album is 2000s metal core and death core written all over it. With choruses that remind me of 2000s Killswitch (not every song has cleans) .
ive listened to this ep about 5 times in total and yeah i think this is the weakest one of the bunch. its not a bad song by any means but everything else on the ep is so varied and exciting and dynamic while this song just felt very much like one idea. even for being a heavy song, i think cellar door has a more interesting chorus and a fun breakdown whereas i dont have much to say about this one.
People are calling this Holy Roller 2.0 and I agree, in that I think both are heavy but kind of dull. Not a fan of when they simplify the instrumentation and songwriting to accommodate heaviness, and a song like Aphids shows they don't need to.
I hate that everyone seems to automatically like it everytime a band goes heavy. It doesn't mean the song is good. I agree with Bogdan, this song is ok. Nowhere near as memorable as Cellar Door or Holy Roller
Maybe a hot take, but Spiritbox is at their least interesting when they're going full heavy mode. Their more progressive stuff is way better.
I agree with you. To me the song was just lacking something. My obvious comparison is Holy Roller and that feels like a much more interesting song to me. Cellar Door I also liked a lot more.
New Spiritbox just has me really torn. Jaded is great, but all in all I havent liked much they did since Eternal Blue even though I want to really like it.

There could definitely be more variation, quite repetitive, and it does fall flat outside the context of the EP. Not much stands out for me here and overall, it's maybe my second least favourite on TFOF.

I love Jaded and The Void, I think these are among the best songs the band has ever written and Angels Eyes and Cellar Door are good too but the rest of the EP kinda disappointed me; they riproposed what Spiritbox have already done but in a more generic and uninspired way.
It's a good song, but vastly overshadowed by the rest of the EP. Not a skip necessarily, just not up to the same standard, I guess?
I think I agree with you, this was the weakest song for me in the EP. My favorite is probably either Jaded or Ultraviolet, but Cellar Door comes very close.
This whole EP is nothing special. Just sounds like standard metalcore, but with Courtney's boring cleans. Yellowjacket, for me, continues to be their best song.

I was honestly expecting more from this EP.
Wish they would have incorporated more prog elements, more melodic screaming/sing-screaming and overall melodies with more range.
The singles were the best from the EP, the rest was solid but underwhelming considering what Spiritbox's capable of.
I've been a fan of spiritbox since they started, but something about this EP just doesn't do it for me and I couldn't tell you what it is. I'm not saying it is bad by any means, I'm saying that it's nothing new and it feels like more of the same
