Went thru two Evade II helmets and loved the fit and ease. After the increase in price and the loss of the magnetic buckle I could not justify buying the Evade III.
I had a recent crash with impact to my neck and collarbone, but no impact to my head or strap. I did not roll on the crash, and for some reason my Evade II helmet came off. So while the magnetic clasp is kinda cool, my guess is Specialized went with a more secure clasp. My Evade II is an awesome helmet!!
Love my Evade 3. Used to have the 2, and it hasn't disappointed me. Love how ventilated it is, cause on hot days the 2 was WAY too hot. I miss the magnetic clip though. That was a touch of class that I appreciated
I find the fact that they haven't mentioned ANY DATA upon Evade III launch quite concerning. Their previous marketing strategy was extremely data-driven and I feel that a simple "Better ventilation and same aerodynamic" doesn't cut it anymore. I would be extremely interested in a direct wind tunnel testing between the Evade II and Evade III, but I haven't found such a comparison yet. I wouldn't be surprised if the Evade III came out worse. This seems like an innovation for the sake of innovation, not for the sake of improvement.
I recommend the Casco SpeedAiro 2 RS helmet with automatic vizor Vautron photochromatic and one hand use Clip. Also inside the head is placed on a net for more comfort not directly to plastic. So it adapts to every head... Superior Ventilation on top!
I've had all 3 versions of the Evade, and ridden many miles in each. I think Evade II was the best. It was a bit lighter than the III and I loved the magnetic buckle. Better fit for my noggin too. Also, I think the key to ventilation on these aero helmets is to have a good exhaust vent for air to escape. With the III they put a big blocky support pillar right in the middle of the exhaust vent.

Take the time to sell them something else while they're there.
I picked up on this as well. My wife works at a local cycling clothing shop and so many people come in to try on stuff with zero intention of buying or even checking on a price match type of option. If it’s way cheaper online sure it likely can’t be matched but to start with that approach just hurts a LBS. At the end of the day I'm on the consumer side with this one. AU$475 on the shelf in January was too much for me. A few months later they were $325 online delivered, from a LBS in Darwin who also have an online presence.

If a size and colour of an item aren’t available they will bring them in from the distribution partners quite quickly where possible.
@@gplama reasonable and I’m usually a big fan of your approach to stuff like this, but expecting a shop to price match online isn’t feasible, at least not here in the UK where the costs of maintaining a physical presence far outweigh those of any online only retailer.
If an LBS who is under licensing/contract to sell Specialized equipment (which I assume also comes with exclusivity arrangements) can't match what they're selling them for online, they can and have it out with Specialized HQ. At the end of the day I'm on the consumer side with this one. AU$475 on the shelf in January was too much for me. A few months later they were $325 online delivered, from a LBS in Darwin who also have an online presence.
Does it keep perspiration out of your eyes?
The evade 2 did for me, with the evade 3 some sweat gets in to my eyes over time.
Did either the II or the III have a sunglasse dock?
I invert my sunnes and they slide into the Evade II vents. I haven't tried with the III... something I'll check when I get the chance.
Sunglasses fit in the side vents
They slide into the II (inverted, as lama says) but it's not very secure. Definitely don't look down
@@shaylorcyclingwahoolecol8313 Like Froome? I never look down 🤣
2:12: when you feel like you should say more, but literally ran out of things to say, realise the silence is getting awkward, so decide to just screw it and move on.
Yep. And after making a dick joke in the intro of a sponsored video, if that's all I'm getting callout out on, it's a good day. 🤣
Couldn't watch all of it..u were scuffing the helmet all over the show lol
This is the most wtf release ever, taken away: Magnetic buckle, top vent, and made the back significantly uglier, ohhhhh and increased the price. Trash. 👎🏼
