Holy Crap! I just finished doing this to my Street Glide and all I can say is "WOW!" This completely changes the feel of the brake. It is so rare for ONE part to make such a big difference. Thank you, brother.
I've been riding for 40+ years.... Never had an issue. I'm 5'11" with a size 13 boot. For me, I see this as a preference and an unnecessary modification for my bikes. It may be for better some, but don't say it is a must-have 1st modification.
Once you ride a bike with a different/ “better” pedal you will likely feel different about this. Maybe not, but that is why there are so many different mods for the Harleys. Ride on!
Each to their own. Thx for watching. I will say, training for emergency maneuvers, tight maneuver, and training and on the fast track, this mod is a must. I use it daily on my police bike and train others. It's a must have IMO. Ride safe.
@@sirreus3003 And sorry,..but I will disagree: I am 6’4 with a similar size 13 Boot and the easy access to..and use of the Brake Pedal in an emergency situation is definitely much better a great safety improvement… and I have build close to a hundred Harley’s and riding for fifty years 😉✊🏻🇺🇸
Softbrake makes one. They said that they sell tons to LEOs. Tons of motormen get busted legs when falling due to foot getting stuck under the pedal. Def always making sure my foot isn’t in a place where it can get stuck if something happens. Gonna get this. Thanks for the vid !
I bought the SoftBrake last year and it has made a world of difference. The extended model wouldn't fit my Road Glide Ultra but the extension wasn't what I needed, it was the lower position. It makes it so much easier to work the back brake while keeping the bike under a load during slow maneuver's.
This pedal was one of the first things I installed on my 2001 FLH... and when I replaced that bike, the same pedal easily transferred to my 2017 FLHTK.
Please note if you want to install it on a 2017 up FLHTK with Lower Fairings you will have to bend it a bit to the right so it won’t hit / interfere with the Right Fairing… no big deal !
Ryan...Thanks for the recommendation and "How to" video and your channel in general. I am not exactly mechanically inclined but just installed them on my '16 RGS and could not be happier. Huge benefit and so much more natural/comfortable to use the rear brake. Thanks again...
I did this mod on my '94 Soft tail and it made a huge difference with my size 13 boots. Currently with a 2010 CVO Touring I haven't had an issue with the stock pedal, but now that I see the difference...
Great tip, I've always struggled with the rear brake placement on my 2010 road king. I just thought it was because I was used to riding a bike with pegs. Unfortunately you don't appear to stock anything for a bike made prior to 2014. There are a lot of pre-2014 touring bikes still on the road, I won't mention any competitors by name here, but most other online parts dealers carry the girder style for pre-2014 bikes and they are actually in stock too. I will return when the parts arrive for an install refresher, thanks for the video.
The extended reach pedal is a game changer. I can now pivot on the ball of my feet and cover the brake pedal without lifting my foot. Now I don't have to worry that in a panic situation I'll chomp down on the rear brake. The position of the original brake made me understand why a lot of guys don't use the rear brake.
That’s not true. With lower pedal , the ability of pressing of pedal and control is much compromised. The reason why Harley is using it that way is science and well studied. Please do not promote articles that completely compromise the controls.
Installed one on my 24 RG. I can tell that I'll like it, eventually. After 13 years on two Road Glides, muscle memory has me messed up, my foot keeps going to the old location. A few more rides and I'll get re-trained.
OMG, too funny! You and I are the same height and shoe size, and I did the exact same mod within two weeks of owning my 2023 RKS. It makes a WORLD of difference! Great endorsement that every H-D rider should do, regardless of the rider's height, shoe size, etc.
Scrappy - best modification I made, but it wasn’t the first. Changed mine after attending a local PD “Share the Road” seminar and noticed others with lower brake pedals had much easier time with slow-speed maneuvering. Definitely made a difference. 🙏🏻 🤜🏼.
First thing I did , ten years ago, when I got my SGS. By far the best money spent, and I’ve spent a lot on it!! Oh I should mention that my LAB gripper phone mount survived after a crash last year that bent the bars to the tank. So that’s probably number two on Best Buy list.
I like angle and hight of the stock, it is better to slightly out rather then straight down when your leg is extended but I would like it bumped out further like the replacement
I put the Thrashin Supply adjustable brake lever on and couldn’t agree more about the Harley brake arm being awful. This looks like a great option as well and less expensive. Ride on!
I just changed mine out and WOW a difference! I'm about 6'6" and a size 15 to 16 shoe. So much better, not perfect yet. When I get a longer seat it'll be perfect.
Ryan, I am 5,7 29-30 inseam. I tried an extended brake pedal. I found it very hard to get adequate brake pressure for complete stopping power, I sold mine!
You talk about being avg at 5'8" with 9 and a1/2 foot size (US) So but what more would help is.. What is your inseam? the stretch of the leg would be more important as far as the reach goes, no? Also, youdon't like it high, but if someone does have a short inseam persay, they might not be able to reach the pedal. So, it's all how the rider likes and fits more so.. I would think.. Anyway, good subject to bring to light and I have seen quite a few of our vids by now and have enjoyed them all.. TCRS D.
30 years ago you could adjust the brake pedal and floorboards, later one's you have to modify indeed, my 1994 adjusted low, 1998 non-adjustable high, 2013 also non-adjustable but low again, 2016 high again ..... modified myself to low position, what do they want at H-D ???
@ryanurlacher Your videos are fantastic! I am in the market for a new bike. Safety is my number one concern. I come from riding a BMW GS. One of my big concerns about the Harley's is the weight and lower ground clearance. Have you spent any time on an Adventure Bike? I would really appreciate your opinion on this. Thanks!

Just bought a 2001 dyna in IMMACULATE condition. All Harley Davidson parts except the grips and pegs, both kuriakin. That is the only chrome on the entire bike that is flaking or has any damage at all.
I could never understand why harley made such uncomfortable brake pedal positioning. My boot cleat always caught in it. I could never arch my foot back that far. As always, another company fixes hds junk.

Whoever owned my bike before me did this. Never knew different and never want to. Other people see it and ask how I got the pedal flat. I’m always like. 🤷♂️
Really liked this extended pedal in my previous touring models. Wanted to use it on my 23 CVO SG, but tech thought that after installation, it would set too close to the mustache shaped crash bars (safety issue?). So, I kept the stock rear brake pedal.
I support all who make solid products. I've tested these for 10 years now and on my police bike I use daily. Solid product. But, i'm sure there are others. So many small companies I can't keep track of them all. Ride safe.
Let me lower longer Billy problems. You lose break pressure leverage because of longer and everything like that. It should be short and I have no love and boots or living and a 1/2 boot so I usually just put my feet on an eighth so my feet. Sets comfortably so I guess it's for certain people with small feet.
I can see the benefit of having the brake pedal lower. But farther out is ridiculous. You still must move your leg forward to apply the brake. I am 5'7" and own a 93 FXRS-CONV and a 2010 FLHTC I have short legs. If anything, I want to reduce my leg travel to the pedal not increase it. If it came in a shorter version I would consider it. I basically like the idea. Like my 93 FXRS-CONV and all the Triumphs and Nortons I have owned hitting the rear brake was just twisting your foot sideways. You practically already have the pedal covered with no leg movement whatsoever. You're also able to get your feet to the ground faster to stabilize the bike while stopping. Using that longer pedal could be the difference between dropping the bike and keeping it upright due to the increased distance the leg needs to travel to the ground during a stopping event. I'll take the pedal position on my FXRS-CONV and my British bikes anytime over my Electra Glide.
Did this on my 2019 Road Glide Ultra as well as my 2022 CVO Road Glide Limited. This should be standard. The stock pedal is unusable. Unusable safety equipment is dangerous.
Sometimes I think the design guys at Harley are all complete nincompoops. Practically everyone wears boots when they ride. Boots are bigger than shoes and the stock brake pedal and often the shifter lever are too short. They get in the way of just being able to place your feet square on the floorboards. The extra 1 inch or so of length makes it so you can plant your boots on the floorboards without crap being in the way.
That’s not true. With lower pedal , the ability of pressing of pedal and control is much compromised. The reason why Harley is using it that way is science and well studied. Please do not promote articles that completely compromise the controls.
Thanks for watching. As a full time police motorcycle officer and instructor, I disagree. I've run both stock and this one. This one is not only more ergonomic, it's safer.

Do you find that it is more likely to press the brake too hard and risk locking up the rearend with the OEM vs the Kuryakyn EBP?
No.

I don't have good experience with the brand 'Kuryakin'. Their chrome finish does NOT hold up well. Give it 3 years and it'll start looking like crap.
Just bought a 2001 dyna in IMMACULATE condition. All Harley Davidson parts except the grips and pegs, both kuriakin. That is the only chrome on the entire bike that is flaking or has any damage at all.
Same reason I avoid Kuryakin parts. I don't think the part I added made it two years before the chrome began flaking and rust started.
Agreed 100%. With that said most aftermarket chrome doesn’t last long at all.
I put one on my Road King, the stock pedal annoyed the hell out of me.
Does it work with soft lowers? (Rain chaps)
Haven't tried. Believe it would. Just get the one for "with lowers". Again, never actually tried.

It should be short and I have no love and boots or living and a 1/2 boot so I usually just put my feet on an eighth so my feet. Sets comfortably so I guess it's for certain people with small feet.
I did it also though my shoe size 11.
For the newer model or I'll save from 17 to 24 there's no hope for us finding this brake panel
Kuryakyn is now out of business
They aren't. Turn 14 is in charge of the Kuryakyn band now. I explain in my video. Check it out.
@RyanUrlacher I used to sell quite a lot of the extended brake pedals, best product that they make.
Kuryakyn has the worst customer service ever, their light system is now useless as the app stopped working and they have no plans to fix .
Love your show. Much usefull info but for the love og god put your hat on right!
Totally agree.
Sell it?
That’s not true. With lower pedal , the ability of pressing of pedal and control is much compromised. The reason why Harley is using it that way is science and well studied.
Please do not promote articles that completely compromise the controls.
Thanks for watching. As a full time police motorcycle officer and instructor, I disagree. I've run both stock and this one. This one is not only more ergonomic, it's safer.
Every time I walk out to my shop I look for something to repair or change on my Challenger, oh wait that was HD. Sorry, not sorry.
10 Million riders swear by / love this mod, an yet... does H-D listen to it's riders ?
Simple answer: Not only No, but proudly Hell NO ! . . . ☆
I watched the video and you never said the obvious answer install a Honda or Yamaha V. Suzuki makes a big V.. that's always the safest thing to do
You're in the wrong neighborhood little boy.
