Everlast isn't on the same level lyrically as Em but he put down some solid disses about his reputation as a tough guy, and he was really the first rapper to make comments about Em's relationship with his mother and baby mama. Glad to see they eventually squashed the beef and Em shouted out House of Pain in his Hall of Fame speech.

Dang, I forgot this is actually not that bad! And didn't Em start the last diss with "eff your mom" or something? Sounds like Whitey just repeated that back in the opening... this is starting out better than I remember it and it's only the first verse... guess I was mad biased. I know what you're saying about Hailie and her dad... but remember, Hailie was only 4 going on 5 when he dropped this, stepdaddy with money coulda popped up if Em was locked up.

He was the one who started it. After this, the ones who came after Everlast, knew it was the one thing that would get under his skin.
A lot of people also forget they come from 2 totally different generations of hip hop. Everlast droppped old school diss type shit that he learned in the 80's when he was with Ice T's Syndicate. Em came years later and hip hop had evolved so much via technology and more. Em has said it more than a few times, this is the only diss track that ever really hit him, he looked up to him, and the bars hit him even harder.
Also Em was the first one to bring family into this. The bar that Everlast dissed Em on the DP track was about Em shooting off like Hailey's Comet, he had no idea his kid's name was Hailey, it was just a metaphor for his star rising and big mouth. Em took it the wrong way and brought the family side into it.

You also have to realize that there really isn't much to use outside of his daughter to get to Em. That's why dude's like Ja and Benzino basically used that in their diss tracks. And then squirt gun came did the same thing. Honestly, I think the only person to make a song about Em that didn't involve his daughter was Mariah.

That story isnt true at all. Everlast nor Em ever fought over this beef. It started with a verse by Everlast on a Dilated Peoples track, then Em did a diss, Everlast came back with this, then Em put out Quitter, right after that B Real ended it and the two have been cool since then. At his recent Hall of Fame speech Em even shouted him/House of Pain out. Yet that whole Detroit story is a old debunked rumor. Everlast did talk some shit and was booed, and some people were heated, yet they left town and that was it.
