The power of epic music that centers around a piano is an amazing and unstoppable force of sound! And you just drove that point home! What a beautiful and awe-inspiring set of tracks! There’s a slight air of melancholy about them as well that seems nostalgic for some reason, and they are so relaxing to boot! Props to you Danny!

Part 44: Lost Brothers 25 days before the Fall of Stormguard, Storm Bastion Fighting on two fronts was something they could not sustain for long. The enemy knew this, and so did every soul defending the Final Line. Yet they fought on, Tybalt, Asterion and Raukus leading their men and the brave Guardsmen holding the bridge, Deion and his force trying to contain the enemy that had dug into their flank. Avriol had run between fronts, fighting wherever the former Lord of the 1st's skills were needed. It had mattered very little. Even the skills of the High-Executioner had not been able to turn the tides. Only the continued effort of hundreds, and the deaths of a great many of those, was able to do that. Asterion had seen wars like this before, had led his 12th company through many of them. They never ended well. He clenched his fist as he heard the enemy approach again. He didn't even have to look anymore to know how they moved. They used the wreckage of the vehicles from the earlier waves as improvised cover for their advance, avoiding much of the firepower of the Final Line. His company was there to intercept them, same as the one armed Lord of the 7th and his men, and Raukus and his brothers. Even the Guardsmen of the Stormbrigades had affixed their bayonets to welcome the enemy to the final line. Everyone knew what they had to do. Tactics had been abandoned a while back, making way for the enemies' ave tactics and the claustrophobic chaos of hand to hand combat and close range gunfights in the trenches. Asterion had abandoned his own bolter when he had run out of ammunition. Instead he had found the powersword of one of his lieutenants, next to the man's lifeless body. He had decided to wield that weapon in his left hand, while the relic powerfist on his right arm carved a bloody path through whatever foes came within his reach. The Hand of Rebirth it had been named, to mark the day that 12th company had risen from the ashes of bitter defeat. They had taken the Reborn as their company name then, and they had always made sure to live up to it. After every defeat, after each setback, they always came back, and slew the enemy that had dealt the blow against them. Not this time. Asterion waded through blood and corpses, searching for his next foe. Too many of those bodies were his own brothers, wearing the markings of the Reborn. They would never rise again. He swatted aside a chainaxe that had been aimed at him with his powerfist, and struck with the powersword in his other hand. Another kill for the tally. He was ashamed to admit that he had lost count over the last few days. Another blow came for him, as more and more enemies made it into the trenches. This one snuck past his guard, but glanced off his armour. He returned the strike with his powerfist, vaporizing his opponent. Everywhere he looked, he saw his own brothers and the Guardsmen by their sides locked in bitter combat. To his left, some daemon possessed monstrosity tore the head from one of his brothers with its bare claws. It soon fell under sustained bolterfire, but not before dragging two more Blades and at least a dozen Guardsmen with it. Little by little, they lost ground, as artillery fire rained down on the trenches and aircrafts battled each other in the skies above. Asterion almost felt like laughing. He'd often been told that Adraxia was a beautiful world, full of life. Yet if one were to look at Stormguard, all they would see was war and death. Another foe came for him. Two of his brothers tried to stop the enemy Astartes, yet his sword was faster than theirs, and he cut them down before they could even graze him. Asterion lifted his own sword to meet this new threat. They exchanged blows, until Asterion lost his footing. Whether it was a loose rock, a pool of blood or perhaps a body he had not noticed, it didn't matter. He'd made a mistake, and that mistake cost him dearly. The sword came down in a flash, and for a moment, pain was all that was left of Asterion's world. But pain meant he was still alive. The right half of his face suffered gravely under the powerfield of the enemy's blade, but he could still breathe, could still move. His own sword struck out, catching his opponent off guard. It tore through the armour around his neck, taking the head off. Asterion took a moment to breathe and determine the damage done to him. His right eye was gone, and he was pretty sure the right side of his skull was visible. He tore off the remnants of his helmet and surveyed the battlefield. That proved to be a mistake. A sharp pain shot through his left leg. In a reflex, his sword struck back, towards the source of the pain. The movement was followed by a wet gurgle as the enemy behind him died. He'd cut through the Plague Marine's windpipe, leaving it to choke on its own blood, and whatever other fluids were flowing through it's diseased body. Yet the damage was done. A metal pike had been jammed through the back of his knee, leaving him unable to walk, or even to rise again. He smiled. Through the pain, he still smiled. He'd always known it would end this way. Tybalt saw his fellow Lord-Captain fall. Asterion was not one to die easily, he knew that much. All his brother needed was a hand. Miracle flashed in his right hand, carving him a path through the servants of Chaos that sought to keep him from his wounded brother. As he reached Asterion, he heard the Lord of the 12th chuckle. "What's so funny?" Asterion looked up. The half of his face that remained was twisted into a smile. "Everything." "You're ailing. Come, we are falling back to regroup." Asterion pointed at the pike in his leg. "I'm not going anywhere." Tybalt sheathed Miracle and shook his head. "Nonsense." He ripped the pike out of his brother's knee, then offered him his remaining arm for support. He'd drag his brother back with him if that was what it took. They hadn't made it far. Asterion knew he was dead weight at this point. Perhaps he wouldn't always be, but he'd have to be brought out of the city first, to heal. And that was a luxury that he would not receive, that much was clear to him as the first boltrounds impacted on Tybalt's armour. "Tybalt-" "Shut it!" The Lord of the 7th wouldn't hear him out. He was a stubborn bastard, always had been. From the day he and Asterion had joined the scout company together. "You only have one arm-" "That's more than enough!" The pained expression on his brother's face as several more rounds found their mark told Asterion otherwise. The blood he noticed flowing from his old friend's side as one of them penetrated the armour only confirmed his suspicions. "Brother-" "I said shut it. You'll be fine, we'll make it." "Take the Hand of Rebirth. May it serve my successor as well as it did me." "I said no!" Asterion janked himself from his brother's grip, dragging both of them behind cover. A swift motion detached the powerfist from his right arm. "Take it and go! I'll hold them off as long as I can." Tybalt stopped, drawing his sword and positioning himself next to his brother. "We've lost too many brothers already. I'm not losing you too." "Listen to me for once in your life damnit!" The sudden outburst of rage seemed to get through to Tybalt, if only a little. Asterion knew if he was ever going to convince his brother to live, it'd have to be now. "Remember... the sparring cages?" Tybalt nodded. "I do... we'd always spar on for way too long. A face that was so similar to Asterion's own. "No, I won't live that long. But you will. Take that as my final wish, and live." Tybalt stood there for a moment, as if waiting for a miracle, but the sword in his hand remained silent. In the end he sheathed it, and took the powerfist from his brother. He'd have to give it to someone who could take it out of the city, but found himself unwilling to part with it. As if a piece of Asterion still resided in the cold metal. In the end, he did give it up, hoping it would find hands as worthy to wield it as Asterion had been. Memories flooded to his mind, of when they had been younger. Days of endless training, preparing them for a life of war, but also a life of brotherhood. Memories of their first kills. They had been so proud that he was sure they'd burst. Memories of when they received news of Ymros' death. How they had mourned him together. And of the smile Asterion had worn when he had left him there. He'd had no regrets. Tybalt tried in vain to rid his face of the tears, it was all lost to him now, never to return. He cried out, trying to rid his hearts of this heavy feeling, finding that his mouth formed the words on its own. "Give me back my brother you bastards!"

Part 44: Lost Brothers
25 days before the Fall of Stormguard, Storm Bastion
Fighting on two fronts was something they could not sustain for long. The enemy knew this, and so did every soul defending the Final Line.
Yet they fought on, Tybalt, Asterion and Raukus leading their men and the brave Guardsmen holding the bridge, Deion and his force trying to contain the enemy that had dug into their flank.

He ripped the pike out of his brother's knee, then offered him his remaining arm for support.

The Lord of the 7th wouldn't hear him out. He was a stubborn bastard, always had been. From the day he and Asterion had joined the scout company together.
"You only have one arm-"
"That's more than enough!"
The pained expression on his brother's face as several more rounds found their mark told Asterion otherwise. The blood he noticed flowing from his old friend's side as one of them penetrated the armour only confirmed his suspicions.
"Brother-"
"I said shut it. You'll be fine, we'll make it."
"Take the Hand of Rebirth. May it serve my successor as well as it did me."
"I said no!"
Asterion janked himself from his brother's grip, dragging both of them behind cover. A swift motion detached the powerfist from his right arm.
"Take it and go! I'll hold them off as long as I can."
Tybalt stopped, drawing his sword and positioning himself next to his brother.

Tybalt nodded.
"I do... we'd always spar on for way too long. Made old man Drenmar mad when he found us... you and Ymros both always taught the rest of us some new trick, even when we thought we'd seen everything."

Tybalt stood there for a moment, as if waiting for a miracle, but the sword in his hand remained silent.
In the end he sheathed it, and took the powerfist from his brother.
Asterion nodded, a weary calmth settling in his eyes.
"See you on the Burning Plains, brother."
The answer was a quiet whisper.
"Aye... see you."
When he found himself back among allies, Tybalt collapsed.
He wasn't ashamed to admit that tears were rolling down his face as he looked down on the weapon his brother had left in his care.
He'd have to give it to someone who could take it out of the city, but found himself unwilling to part with it. As if a piece of Asterion still resided in the cold metal.
In the end, he did give it up, hoping it would find hands as worthy to wield it as Asterion had been.

We are created by God.We must trust and obey the God who created us and Jesus Christ who God sent to this world.
Jesus answered, "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. -John 3:5
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. -Galatians 5 : 22 - 23
Don’t delay, you should immediately trust Jesus Christ and God!
