The only complaint I had with her in the trailer was I thought her face could have been just a tad more expressive when talking to Cloud in the bar, but beyond that she looks fantastic and I'm certain that when the game comes out, even this minor complaint I have will have been fixed. I can't help but feel they're making a mountain out of a molehill here.

They probably didn’t finish all of her scenes. I mean look at how much of her we actually saw compared to the other characters. Not much at all. Chances are she’s not finished.

Moral of the story: if you’re going to criticize a widely liked model of a beloved character, it’s probably best to include graphics and video clips that highlight the specific points you don’t like, as you talk about them. You may have points about some specifics but using broad terms like “rough” and “unfinished” on a model many of us thought was great isn’t going to go over well.

Just a bit too nitpicky on Tifa and Aerith. Tifa having the skulls is just Nomura having fun designing characters(you see runes etched on her gloves and both a chocobo and , the pleated skirt makes her definitely look younger, but your comments about her being too slim puzzled me, as she was pretty darn slim with little to no definition even in Advent Children and even skinnier looking in the original art. The facial bits I am not seeing this robotic thing you are talking about with her, she showed definitely enough concern for what was obviously about them being eco-terrorists, while I am awestruck you didn't mention Cloud's almost monotone "So I hear you're having second thoughts?" bit at the bar, rather than Tifa. And Tifa was too plain in comparison of the other character? She was simplistic in design of from the start guys!As for personality, you guys definitely forgot a lot of points about the characters. Tifa literally GUSHED at a baby chocobo chick on the tracks going toward Corel when the gang was going to Gold Saucer, so she has her moments of squeezing at cute things, so some accessories are fine, she's a martial artist in a miniskirt, she's obviously not dressing totally for function. Aerith also had her mature flirty side, but she totally had pouty, childish, almost Rinoa like qualities too, so her English dub voice sounds perfect for that, and while she is used to the voices from the Planet, its not like she doesn't fear things. We need the context of the scene before we judge.

I want to praise you guys so much. You are SO much better reviewers of the trailers than other FF7 fans. You are so aware of yourselves and realistic goals. I tire of listening to FF7 fan “reactions” who whine, endlessly, about how awful Square-Enix is and if ANYTHING is imperfect, they endlessly complain. You are aware of limited budgets, you are aware of limited time, you are aware that in demanding Tifa ASAP, you naturally beget she is a bit unfinished. You are aware of the potential for adding new qualities, or changing bad qualities in the old, but also quick to preserve the essentials of the old. I love listening to your commentaries because you are not the oh-so-common greedy fans who rage liberally yet your FF7 love is palpable. Thank you for being you.
The only critique I might offer is that it is OK for Aeris to be innocent in her voice, IMO. Some people do have an innocent streak; some people do panic in bad situations. It’s not degrading her as a woman; both genders do this. “Tough” men sometimes completely fail when they enter combat. I work with women who have an extreme of that “innocent” voice and sound “helpless”; they nonetheless serve the U.S. doing very difficult work. Separately, the toughest person is the one who conquers his/her fears and rises up to the challenge. Perhaps she is going to be more innocent initially and will grow.

For me, this is the definitive Tifa. Way better than any previous version - Advent Children Tifa bore very little resemblance to Nomura’s original concept art and should be forgotten. I really don’t see what you mean by “unfinished,” but if they improve on this further I’ll be amazed and even happier.

I know this is an old breakdown video, but I need to point out something about "Innocent Aerith." I think it's totally in canon to have her have both sides in the initial game. They basically treat her like a kid multiple times in the original Midgar section with covering her ears and whatnot, and they are taken aback by her choice of dresses, so I'm pretty sure she's supposed to be very innocent at face value, but be the kind of character that surprises you.

I love Tifa's new design, BUT I will say that I too feel there's something a little off in regards to her face. Not sure what though... it's one of those instances in which you can't put my finger on it.
Considering how little we've seen her in comparison to the others, I'm also thinking her scenes might not be entirely finished. In the short scenes we did get with her, there weren't many good closeups of her face, so that might contribute to her looking "unfinished" perhaps(?). Then there's also that "development footage subject to change" text at the beginning of the first trailer, whatever that may mean in the end.
Anyhow, I still find her new look gorgeous and I can't wait to see more of her!

I was always under the impression that the last 9 or so months in a game's development cycle involves debugging and performance optimisation. Therefore, the notion that entire character models will undergo changes seems a bit unlikely to me.Hence, either the Tifa you saw is the Tifa you will get,or the footage SquareEnix showed us is not the most recent one and the most recent Tifa does not have the flaws you suggested...but all is speculation ofcourse..still happy this even exists.

I don't think we need to worry about having rushed them to make a Tifa reveal. It was only a month since the previous teaser. I can't imagine they made a whole new trailer and grabbed a bunch of Tifa scenes just based on people's reactions. Of course what do I know? Could easily be wrong. But, this is the only E3 before the game comes out. They had to show Tifa off here. I can only believe that they always intended to reveal her here. If you don't show off one of your main cast of Midgar at E3 then people are going to be worried. Maybe they just didn't pace themselves properly when it comes to the E3 trailer. When they cobbled together a while back they just weren't as far along with Tifa as they would have liked to be.
It's probably fair to say they have more work to do there. Used a part of the game for a demo that didn't have Tifa in the party and such. But I'm happy with what we got. Maybe because I didn't look too deeply at it/didn't have to. I was glad to see Tifa, get something like that bar conversation scene, and just have her around. I don't feel like it would have been right to make this big E3 presentation without her. And in the end they do have 9 months to get this game ready to go. So any small issues should be fine by March. For me it's a win/win. We got to see her and can be confident that she'll look great when the game comes out next year.

Tifa, the most under designed protagonist in the original game was rough in appearance in the remake reveal? The overall obsession with Tifa's appearance from the community at large is just ridiculous. She looks unpolished. She looks too Asian. Her boobs are too small. Who cares? She looks better than the original, Advent Children, and Kingdom Hearts. She feels more realistic than ever before. All the characters do. Cloud feels more human and Barret doesn't seem like a giant stereotype. If you can't tell the difference between in-game engine footage and cut scenes then that's just a testament to how polished the in-game engine actual is. The Red XIII reveal will be the true watershed moment. Can they do fur and flames well enough? And are we only getting 5 characters in this game? That's it for the OG up to the Midgar escape, but I could see maybe Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie being playable characters.

I was one of those people wanting the Tifa cake, and when they revealed her i was really dissappointed. My main thing was her face design, She has always been so beautiful in the original game, 10th anniversary picture and in Advent children. However in the Remake i felt she looked really bad.
Hopefully in the next trailer we get sometime in December she will be looking much better. Its nice to see though that im not the only one who was dissappointed by the Tifa reveal.

oof the amount of people here who are clearly reacting to a thumbnail and haven't watched this is staggering lol.
Here's a hint if your complaining about her "Design" you didn't watch the video, they never shat on her design they are just pointing out that it seems the current model shown doesn't seem as complete as others.

Well, I cannot relate to the after sex thing and while I do understand the baked reference the game overall is unfinished, which is why it is episodic. It is not final fantasy 7 in any other sense than being a fraction of it as it will lack so many things like: most summons (maybe even not at all) and no WEAPON (I would assume they find some random endgame grind boss anyway), half of the characters (not even the forgettable Cait Sith), the most memorable and other very memorable scenes in the game, etc. I guess the church scene is in the game as it is in Midgar but basically all scenes that tie the game together is not in the game. I mean sephirot will lack most of his sides as basically nothing is really explained early in the game. I doubt they can make him justice with only Midgar portion and he cannot be the last boss or if he is the end boss battle is kinda pointless. The biggest question is how they handle a transition between episodes. Will we start out at level 1 again cause that would make little sense but is kinda needed if they plan to have the games independent like FF XIII series.
I thought Tifa looked good and she is basically the only one with English voice actor I liked. I have watched a lot your videos and every time you discuss voices I just wonder: have you never even tried to use Japanese voices? The game is made with those in mind after all and many things are better explained with Japanese cultural values and expressions. Tifa and Cloud were the most anime characters in the original game (in my opinion) and they are now as well. I understand that some people simply never learn cultures outside of their own (especially Americans it seems but I do not know if you are or not as I suck at guessing origins, especially by voice) but I never understood why grown up people watch dubbed movies of any kind (and many European countries do dub). I mean I do not know much in other languages (my native is Swedish, second is English and third German) and I realize that I lose out of culture by having subtitle but I would lose out even more if I also took out the dialogue. Then again I always have subtitles, even when watching or playing in my own language.
I do not think they will redo any models and one thing that they should have added (ARMOR) seems sadly lacking. I consider myself a nerd and know things about games that others seem to find trivial but I am not as nerdy as you guys >_

Yes...the black undershirt and leggings upset the whole color balance of Tifa's original design...finally, a content creator who make sense...and yes i also agree that her finishing looks inferior to the other 3 characters....i expect to see more development of her face and hair on future trailers...
