My family (on my Mom's side) left home and farmland (in former Prussia - now Alsace-Lorraine, France; area bordering Switzerland, Germany) to escape loosing another child to the Kaiser and the war, took a ship to Galveston. They built the 1st Catholic Church in New Braunfels. I've been considering New Braunfels for several years and now may I may be in a position to make a move. There is some flooding occasionally around the rivers when there is heavy rains and the ground is saturated. This occurs every few years, so not a lot. And primarily in the floodplains around the rivers. The vast majority of the rest of the city does not get flooding. Tornados are even more rare, and hurricanes would be down at the coast.
