Nothing against Highlander, but they’re not one of the most respected UK outdoor gear manufacturers. Rab, Montane, Alpkit, Berghaus and Karrimor are streets ahead. However Highlander have definitely stepped up their game recently, and this looks pretty decent.
Maybe I should have said in my opinion. The other brand you named here are definitely top tear. I got roasted by Mrs Moorlander a few weeks back. We were in Betws-y-Coed and I spent way too long in the Alpkit store 😀 Love their gear. I'll hopefully have some content on the Karrimor SF bags soon as well
@@MoorlanderEDC roger that mate. Yeah l love having a look at all the new gadgets and kit!
you're the first gear reviewer that I've seen specifically covers frames and such. Immediate sub
Thanks Patrick, welcome aboard. I'm definitely a gear nerd so I'm all about those details 🤓🤙
@@MoorlanderEDC got a question, then! Have you ever seen a pack on the market that is 16 inches wide and doesn't go down the back far enough to have a waist belt? Kinda like the old terrible pattern 58 large pack, but not terrible.
Hmmmmmm... I've been trying to have a good think on this. The difficulty is that modern packs have all adopted a taller slimmer profile over the traditional military style packs like the pattern 58. From what I understand the original thoughts of the P58 was that load bearing was best on that higher position, like carrying on a yoke, plus it allowed for clearance on kit around the waist especially for bed rolls. Fast forward a few decades and modern thought is that the waist belt is more important, relieving up to 30% of the weight from the shoulders. The longer slimmer profile also made climbing between things easier with less snags. My immediate thought was maybe the Savotta Jaakari S however that's still not that wide. I think you might have stomped me here my friend 😂 Most of my Googling has either found sales of P58 packs or people trying to find a modern day equivalent. I think the only way might be to find something like a messenger bag that also has shoulder straps. The closest one to that I can think of is the Chrome Industries Berlin Messenger bag. It's more of a 'X' harness than shoulder straps. They're really tough but not an outdoor adventuring pack
Had the 30 for a while. Very good value for money. Still usually roll with a jaakari for sheer aesthetics 😂
This looks like a really nice backpack, I just went to their website, they have them in 30l for 35 quid, that's a really good value.
About 45 Bucks U.S.?
Man, I would buy one now, but shipping would probably be insane!
@@KevinSmith-yh6tl I don't think they offer delivery outside UK . Didn't see the option

Oh, thank you very much for the info.
I really would have been tempted to purchase one though.
👌
about 21mins in .. is that Bear Grylls dropping in for a colab ?? lol
Yep, he was after some advice on some new gear for a trip he's taking in a few months. Taught him everything he know 🤣🤙
Bear who? 😂
