    editing in the "out-takes", at the end, was just super-fun! thank you :D i wish I had seen your video two years ago. still, it is very well done and with a lot of fun. and it is still funny, even today, two years later that... "thing" ! back in the days of film photography, I had a ring to be fixed in front of the lens, allowing for it to be clipsed the way you did, outward inward. it was simple and efficient and... cheap ! but safer, to be honest, no need to hold the lens the other hand. anyway, thank you very much !

    The macro world is amazing!
    While using the 18-55 lense I extend the zoom little bit for better grip. Some images look very stunning. The macro journey is just started…..

    Back in the late 70s Fuji introduced a new line of SLR cameras with the AX designation. Until then Fujica cameras had a Pentax screw mount. The AX cameras were Fuji's proprietary bayonet mount. The cameras (3 models) were sold with a 43-75 (might be a little off on the range; it's been over 40 years) zoom lens. As a marketing program to kick start the new mount, we included a reverse adapter so we could sell it as a macro zoom, of which there were not a lot of those back then. Cameras didn't sell all that well. The last thing the world needed was another proprietary mount.

    This is mental! I've never seen such technic. It's pretty tricky but it'd work quite well if all important conditions are handled properly. I can definitely use this technic once in a while. I could probably use this technic not only to get macro shots but also when I need some special image. Thanks a million!! 😍

  • @swagonman
    @swagonman 4 года назад +1

    When you remove the lens, you need to make sure the camera is on and DOF preview enabled (or half depress the shutter) when removing the lens. Otherwise, you’re aperture will be wide open and not stopped down. I’ve been doing this for some time now, but with a $5 lens reverse mount ring. It screws to the lens, but gives you a bayonet mount on the front. Then you can use the back cap as a lens cap regardless if the lens is mounted normal or reverse. It’s weird and cool.

    • @pal2tech
      @pal2tech  4 года назад

      Yeah, that's a good point. I wish I had actually also tested/included a reverse mount into the video. GREAT idea about using the back cap for the lens cover protection.

    What if I told you this is outdated? What if I said "First reverse your lens, THEN make adjustments"? Yes, you can reverse your lens and still communicate "normally" with the camera; aperture, shutter speed, even auto focus stacking. It cost more than a few pennies but I just got the Novoflex RETRO for Fuji X-Mount (FUX-RETRO):
    Perhaps you could do a "What if you had $400 extra: What could you get"? episode.
    This, the 1.4 teleconverter (for those with the right lenses), Viltrox lenses,...
    But, for really close focus stacked macro, the Novoflex FUX-RETRO was an eye-opener.

    It is a bummer that you (some) can't get equipment...although I use this technique all the time, but I have the proper equipment to do it properly. I have 2 reverse ring adapters that allow me to safely secure the lens to the camera-reversed. I also don't need to move the camera back & forth to focus. I just use the zoom ring on the lens.(I also use the 18-55 kit lens) My worst fear of trying to do this without the adapter is dropping the lens and or the camera. If I were to try to do this without my reverse adapter I would try modeling clay or even tape to try to secure the lens---somewhat I do a lot of macro in my 'retirement' and have found that for a fraction of the cost of a dedicated macro lens, I can achieve very versatile and variable magnifications using reverse rings or extension tubes, so much so that I am looking at a 50mm 'enlarger' lens with a reverse ring setup for a permanent macro lens. The 50mm enlarger lens cost $40.00 and the reverse ring adapter costs less than $20 !!! Beats paying $1200 for a good dedicated macro lens like the Fuji 80mm (I know because I bought the 80mm...then sold it when I discovered these techniques!!! Thanks Chris for bringing macro to your viewers...by the way, I LOVE that light, where did you get it?

    • @pal2tech
      @pal2tech  4 года назад

      Hey Steve!!! All great points and, yeah, as soon as this friggin mess is over with COVID-19, I want to get some reverse ring adapters and try it out. Some of my viewers literally cannot get any orders of anything right now. The light I'm using is the Aputure AL-MX, Amaran 128 LED Bi-Color On-Camera Video Light (amzn.to/2VfgZSS), however, I think that for the cost it's a bit high. You can get the viltrox for a lot cheaper: amzn.to/3aibsiz. It's not a fancy, but it's a great light and in fact is the one I have on all the time in the background of my studio that powers both the red and blue light behind me.

      Ok, you buy a cosmetic brush for make up... it had to be a syntetic one not real hair/fur. use the bulb/blower and blow through the hair of the brush, like 3-5 times... it will give it a very small static load/charge... now you gently “paint“ over your sensor... all the dust will get “sucked“ in the brush because of the static load... now you got the dust in the brush... do heavy stroks over your clean jeans or the edge of your table to release the dust... its a clean simple and gentle way to remove dust... some particle may be stuck to hard to for that technic but 80% cleaning i do just like that. If it does not help you got to do the normal version with wet swipes... there are many videos online how to do so... please leave your blower and brush im a zip lock bag if not needed.
