Everything is perfect about this film from the script, and casting to the magnificent cinematography and set decoration. It never gets old or dated. A masterpiece.
Yes!!! One of my great favorites. I agree.....it's perfect. And the mood.....the atmosphere.......the music. I bought the DVD and have watched it many, many times over the years....and will continue to.
I just discovered this film, May 3, 2020 on TCM, one of the world's great treasures. A fantastic dream journey, indeed! Wonderful music and Wendy Hiller
New found favorite. 30 yrs ago I was in Northern Scotland working on a film with Michael Livesey and he spoke of his Uncle being in this film. Today it was on TCM and I got to see it. But not the beginning which I just did. Will hopefully watch it tonight with my wife of 35yrs. thanks for posting.
As a descendant of the ancient clan MacDuff red, I love the idea of Scotland.. in any form. Wendy Hiller, before she became the matriarch character we all love onscreen, was quite a respectable cutie. And she gives Roger Livesey a run for his money a bit later in this delightful film..thanks ever so much for posting this treasure..
Blimey ! THANK YOU for uploading this wonderful clip ! A true British classic ! Top notch in EVERY dept: cast, script, music, photography, art direction, etc etc etc !! Two thumbs up !! :-)
My grandad played Kenny in this. Silver darlings to. We have them on dvd but never thought to look for any clips on RUclips till now for some reason. Wish I'd known him. Rip murdo, you had alot of faults but still were a wonderful actor I think. X
Another exceptional confection from Messrs. Powell & Pressburger, without a doubt one of THE most remarkable team of filmmakers in the history of the cinema. The Criterion Collection edition includes the marvelous 1994 documentary "I Know Where I’m Going! Revisited," which includes excerpts of interviews with Martin Scorsese and Pressburger's grandson (amongst others). Were I allowed only their films on my desert island, my only concern would be enough projector arc rods (and popcorn).
@glamfakir comming up on wednesday june 29 2011 this movie will be comming up on TCM 7pm central standard time, after thatr come 2 more scottish movies, brigadoon and let's be happy.
My favourite film. All of it utterly perfect.

This is the only moment set in Glasgow. The rest is set on the isles - and is beautiful.
marvelous film...
Thanks for uploading this clip. Can I find the rest of the film on youtube? It is a very interesting historical document for me living in Glasgow?
Thanks for posting this clip. Do they have his show in DVD?
I miss an instrumental version of this song which was uploaded by a Greek....

I'm afraid you'll have to buy the movie!
@HotVoodooWitch Am I the right David Cairns? Do I know any western forum? Not sure. How did we meet?
He died in Watford and she died in Beaconsfield - ah well it's a funny old world.
Gold digger who learns she has a heart! Brilliant!
I wish they would stop saying Kiloran the way they do in this film. Otherwise it is very entertaining and unwinds like a precision instrument.
I'm on your isle.
Davy, you son of a gun! I'm just now watching this on Turner! How are you? How's the Western forum?
