I can see you standing, honey With his arms around your body Laughin', but the joke's not funny at all And it took you five whole minutes To pack us up and leave me with it Holdin' all this love out here in the hall I think I've seen this film before And I didn't like the ending You're not my homeland anymore So what am I defending now? You were my town Now I'm in exile, seein' you out I think I've seen this film before I can see you starin', honey Like he's just your understudy Like you'd get your knuckles bloody for me Second, third, and hundredth chances Balancin' on breaking branches Those eyes add insult to injury I think I've seen this film before And I didn't like the ending I'm not your problem anymore So who am I offending now? You were my crown Now I'm in exile, seein' you out I think I've seen this film before So I'm leavin' out the side door So step right out, there is no amount Of crying I can do for you All this time We always walked a very thin line You didn't even hear me out (you didn't even hear me out) You never gave a warning sign (I gave so many signs) All this time I never learned to read your mind (never learned to read my mind) I couldn't turn things around (you never turned things around) 'Cause you never gave a warning sign (I gave so many signs) So many signs, so many signs You didn't even see the signs I think I've seen this film before And I didn't like the ending You're not my homeland anymore So what am I defending now? Thank you for this! Sometimes I find Bon Iver's voice a little too intense for this song, but sometimes I also appreciate the song more becuase of it. Now I can switch to this version if I wanted something gentler!
this is soooo nice!! Been thinking about a proper "duet" version ever since Dan put out his exile cover🥰🥰 ... and sang both parts at the same time, hehe😅 you did amazing!❤️
I get that!! But really, it's pretty seamless and you did amazing work, sounds really natural👍🏻🥰 I guess the hardest part to edit or mix right is wherever Dan's voice needs to trail off because he kind of intersected with the second voice that would've been Taylor's or Justin's part (I think he switches it a bit around in the bridge) and also adjusting Taylor's volume to level them both. But again, really nice work! These are just some details a person that listened to both the cover and the original over and over would notice, haha🫣😅😅
@@humanity_bear it wasn’t too bad to match the speed of dans vocals because he plays on beat very well so I got an a stage tempo from him and it worked then I pitched him down one I believe. For the other vocals I used only Taylor by taking the official acapella and filtering the lead and backing vocals and taking each bit I needed and mixing it 😂 Sounds like so much work but it’s not bad I’ve got a lot more edits like this one coming out soon too!!!

Thank you! I have some things I would’ve liked to have done better but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out

Bastille overdid it. I prefer Iver over this. Just saying....
