    I graduated in December and passed my RD exam in March. Right now I’m working for two nutrition apps! One full time and one part time. I definitely never thought that’s where I’d be today. Part of me misses some of the clinical side of things, buuuut so far, I love what I do! Never let anyone tell you “community doesn’t pay” or “there are no jobs in community” - do what you love!!!! Thankfully, as an RD you have options 💕🙌

      Hello! Can I ask which apps? I’m looking to branch out a bit. I currently consult in long-term care/SNF. :)

      This is so helpful to hear. I am about to start my Dietetic Internship and have never really enjoyed the clinical side. I was scared that I made a huge mistake and rethought even going through with the internship. My goal is to work remote with a flexible enough schedule to travel while working. I still hope it’s possible, but we shall see. How have working for nutritional apps been? Were you remote? Thanks!

    I'm an older student going back to school to become a RD, and I just want to thank you so much for your helpful info and guidance! There have been quite a few times that I've had doubts about whether I want to continue down this path only because I am older, but your videos are really encouraging. I am a personal trainer but have always had a passion for learning about nutrition, I just get nervous about the whole internship part. Anyway thanks again!

      I agree. I'm a non-traditional student struggling to make it through my program. My university makes it so difficult to due to limited classes offered in undergrad programs. I'm hoping to find encouragement and advise!!!!! I work a full-time 9-5 job and take classes over my lunch break, jesus take the wheel!

    Some other nontraditional roles for dietitians might be: telehealth. Doing all or part of the consultations over the phone or internet. Another fast growing area is dietitians in management roles, whether food service or in food companies. Restaurant consultant is another, helping with training on food allergies, food safety, and healthy menu planning as well as organizing the menu for maximum profit. I considered doing this at one point.

I earned a bachelor's of science degree in Cell & Molecular Biology, but would like to become a dietitian and am now applying to post-bach programs to complete the classes I need and earn a second bachelor's in dietetics prior to applying to internship programs or combined master's-internship program. Hi Kim! Im currently a student in college studying nutrition and dietetics. Im interested in working with either school aged children (like in a school system) or athletes one day... but I’m not sure what those type of jobs entail. Also I know it will soon be a requirement that RD’s have a masters degree. I plan to graduate with my bachelors in 2021 (I’m actually trying to graduate early in the year 2020 if possible). Assuming that i get into an internship program right away and Im working as an RD before the year 2024 does that mean I’ll be “grand-fathered in” and wont need to get my masters? I can barely afford college as it is, I dont think I can afford a masters. Im debating on even changing my entire career / college path (like going to PTA instead) if it means I’ll require a masters one day. Im really big into health and fitness so I know I’ll be happy as either an RD or a PTA, but the schooling is so different. I just dont know if I’m wasting my time or money for this education... Thanks girl, your videos have been so helpful for me I really appreciate all that you do.

    • @KimRoseDietitian
      @KimRoseDietitian  6 лет назад +2

      Yes from my understanding you will be grandfathered in!
      I hope whatever path you choose you will have clarity and he content.

      @@KimRoseDietitian I have worked as an LMT for 12 years. Thinking of becoming RD. Threre was a Registered Dietitian at my spa that would do consultations with customers & advise eating plans as well as supplements we had from metagenics. So certain spas that have nutrition the products would most likely be locations to get hired. Or a hospital based gym where they can advise plans but I'm sure that falls under "community" right?

    • @sarahamelia9939
      @sarahamelia9939 7 лет назад

      Sometimes there jobs in hospitals as a food service tech maybe you can apply for those until next year when you apply for internships. Getting a masters can be expensive and might increase your chances to get an internship but it's not guaranteed. If you do decide to get a masters do one that is coordinated so you do the classes and clinicals then when you graduate you can take the exam and become registered.

      ajaxmuse if you don't get matched the first round you can sit for the DTR exam and if you pass you can work as a DTR and build up experience in the field. before reapplying for a DI I believe but look into it just in case I'm wrong.
