The video clearly shows that she claimed not to know he was an illegal until *after* he told her he was trying to get plates and registration for the vehicle she sold him. Where she became at fault, and clearly showed her stupidity on how serious this illegal problem is, was when she learned that he was an illegal and still tried to help him.

Sold a car,,,called the DMV and had the title flagged,,as soon as the the car left the driveway,,,good thing, next day car got towed in downtown SF, sat in impound for a month. Tow company tried to get me for a small fortune. I won.
Happened to someone I know but he had to pay 1,000 to get his car out.

I have stopped vehicles, that turned out to be driven by "undocumented" persons. The documents they produced as identification and driving privileges had been issued by the Mexican Consulate office in Orlando FL. Excuse me but the only one allowed to give out drivers license is the state agency that issues them. The drivers did not understand that driving on the public roadways was not allowed and in violation of FL state statutes. Plus they never had auto insurance or just barely had it in someone else name.
One of them read-ended my husband. The quickest call with lawyers ever ‘we can’t help you’ and we got to pay for everything completely out of pocket. Thanks, San Diego. No consequences to him and he was our neighbor!
All this is rather stupid. But the states (most) nowadays have bent over backwards as to not to offend the sensible migrant community. Just got my bill to renew my tags yet recent reports from my state estimate about half of the population hasn't renewed their tags! The topper my state asked over & over for extension on the Real ID, now sending me fliers to get/upgrade my DL to the Real ID! What for, when illegals fly all over the country with a simple paper saying "asylum seeker" Please!

I go with the buyer to the dmv to have a transfer in front of their cameras and their policies.
By law the DMV can't process a title without secure and verifiable identification.
I know someone who did this. Did not end well for them.

uninsured drivers should be automatically jailed. prison. i got 2 uninsured drivers damage my car! got nothing out of them , not a cent. police didnt do anything and they probably will drive anyway without license nor other documents

In Arizona years ago I sold a Chevy Astro van to a buyer.A couple weeks latter I received a letter from the INS.A vehicle registered to me was apprehended transporting UDIs(undocumented immigrants).The van had been stripped of all except the drivers seat.I was offered to pick the vehicle up after paying the 7 day total $1,050 storage fee.I passed.
How could she possibly sell the cat just like that?

Anytime I sell a vehicle I take the plates that are on my vehicle to the DMV and I let them know I sold the vehicle here is a copy of the bill of sale I am not responsible for whatever they choose to do with it they take it off of my name my account whatever they have in their system and I don't worry about it I don't care if they can't register it they can't get insurance that is not my problem if you don't know so you can't get insurance to register a vehicle and that's your problem it's not mine go sell it to someone

It took me 8 years to be able to buy an old car in the USA. But yet, I came here with my passport and a background check, and I had an US driving license, my own address and I wasn't afraid to go to the DMV and do my paperwork. Where did he get that money from???????

even if you take your plates they have the car and the VIN number. if it's used in a vehicular homicide or a crime switched plates won't keep it from coming back to you. I've bought and sold quite a few cars and had to show my driver's license or see there's. allowing an unlicensed driver to drive your car is a felony especially if they don't have insurance in most States

If you are selling your car to a person who doesn't have papers, how can you know If this person know the laws or even knows how to drive? He/ she will be driving a car without insurance, and what about if this person gets in an accident?

I guess it depends on the state you're in, only been in Colorado twice, during layovers at the Denver Airport while going to and from Sin City to visit by Aunt and uncle, so I can't say how Colorado DMV works. Here in SC where I live you cannot register a vehicle without proof of the State's minimum liability insurance, and you must show proof of insurance once a year when you renew your registration and pay the vehicle property tax.

My cousin sold his van to an illegal alien without a “transfer of title” form being completed. This migrant made an illegal turn in an intersection and caused a massive 4-car accident. My cousin was on the hook for $50k out-of-pocket.

This happened to me 10 years ago. I sold it to a Hispanic guy, he never transferred the title over to his name. Another 5 years pass, i got a call from the sheriff's office to come pick up my vehicle in impound. I told him I already sold it, and he said its still legally yours. When I got there, I found the car had been sitting for years! Tires were flat so I towed it home and re-sold it after applying for a new title.
